Human babies are born about 6 or 7 months premature in an evolutionary sense, to accommodate our superior brain power compared to other mammals, as any longer would make it impossible for the woman to fit her child through her birth canal, which is why the young of most mammals and especially our nearest match - primates - are far more capable and aware and can run, graze, and are aware of surroundings than human babies.
I thought it's mainly because of the fact that people are bipedal which limits the size of the birthing canal in comparison to quadrupedal animals

The Maldives, the Netherlands, the United States
I’m pretty sure that those countries official names are without “The” in front of them. Like how the UK is announced to everyone during Eurovision or the Olympics as “The United Kingdom”.

This is so interesting, I have always thought how ill designed humans are to give birth. Cats etc can manage it alone yet for women there are so many difficulties and complications

Now a child has died of herpes, is this a new thing? I don’t recall this happening before

If you’re talking about the article I think you’re talking about, I think the headline is quite misleading. The boy was extremely poorly, he had leukemia which means he was far more susceptible to illnesses compared to a healthy person.
However it’s not a new thing either, there are quite a few documented cases where babies have ended up with viral meningitis caused by herpes simplex 1 after being kissed by someone with a coldsore (which is why a lot of people say they don’t want any others touching or kissing their babies). It’s rare ofc but it can sadly happen.

when i first read that I was confused as I thoughth you meant gladiators the 90s tv show :D
that’s what I thought too 😂😂
Speaking of gladiators, isn’t it meant to be coming back soon? I know there was an updated version on Sky 1 in the 00s with Kirsty Gallagher but sure there was also another one meant to be in 2022/2023….🤔

Don’t think this is new, babies are very susceptible to becoming very sick from cold sores which are extremely infectious if making direct contact, like a kiss. I think because they haven’t got immunity in their short-lived bodies to fight off the huge attack on the immune system like adults can. I’ve definitely heard of it before.
