OT but isn't it amazing when you think about it how, before the internet, things like this still spread around? Like presumably we all grew up in different places but everyone heard this rhyme as a child, I lived in Australia for a time during primary school and it was also a thing there...... someone told me what that really meant when I was 27 years old... Same as you I thought it was a jolly children's rhyme. How naive

Thought it was a person because it was always read on the news as, “Sinn Fein, Paddy Ashdown, Tony Blair” etc. I never questioned it until I saw it on Reddit earlier. Turns out, I’m not the only one.
