They are still known as Undertakers aren't they? I wasn't aware the term had been phased out. It's one I hear/use regularly. Maybe this will be my 'today I learned'Not today, but only recently did I think about why funeral directors were once known as Undertakers <dense>

There’s a firm I know of who are funeral directors but not undertakers. I.e they handle the ceremonial side, cars, flowers, venue etc but not the body and coffin which are dealt with by a separate undertaker.
