The police use a computer system called HOLMES. (Home Office large major enquiry system).
A computer system used to manage serious and complex crime investigations. It gives senior officers a real-time view of live operations to help them decide how to best use police resources.
I watch so many crime documentaries and I’ve never heard it mentioned until today 🤯

Thanks to the Rant thread, today I learned you can buy "travel candles". Mind blown there's candles that are for travelling only. Here's me thinking I'm a rockstar having noisy wick candles. Didn't realise I could have one in ASDA with me! 🤣🤣🤣

It’s mad to think some of the treatments or supplements etc that we take these days will be considered this bizarre in a hundred years too!
There's a programme called horrendous history which I was watching last night. They used to use cocaine during surgery but stopped because it's addictive

But sticky rice is a different variety of rice
Sticky rice, also called sweet rice and glutinous rice, is used throughout Asia. This round-grained rice is immediately recognizable by its sticky, gluelike texture when cooked. It is the total or near absence of the starch amylose that makes sticky rice so sticky. Offered in long-grain and short-grain varieties, sticky rice is used in both sweet and savory Chinese dishes and is most often steamed. Sticky rice is more expensive than regular white rice, about double the price.

Other types of rice contain two types of starch—amylose and amylopectin—and the stickiness of the rice depends on the proportion between the two. While a higher amylose content in long-grain white rice (19 to 23 percent) means it will turn out nice and fluffy, the lower amylose content in short-grain white rice (12 to 19 percent) causes the grains to stick together. Sticky rice, on the other hand, contains a maximum of 1 percent amylose and a very high concentration of amylopectin, making it very sticky when cooked.

If someone is having difficult climbing a wall, they’ll say something like, ‘this wall doesn’t have perches.’ They’re not saying “purchase.” 🙈

Whilst animals are being discussed, (Some) Hyenas actually enjoy a cuddle (from those who know how to handle them). Personally they freak me out, strange looking creatures. :D

I've found out today that the series of books I've been reading and enjoying are written by Harriet of traitors fame (highly recommend).

You can change the motion field on Ring doorbells. Mine’s been going off constantly due to my autumn wreath lifting in the wind. Serious first world problem, I know.

Children of identical twins are siblings not cousins genetically. As the daughter of an identical twin this had fascinated me.
I think I mentioned this before but I have some double cousins in my family (a set of fraternal twins married a brother and sister). I was reading something similar to you that the family’s kids share the same amount of dna as half siblings

That the fi in WiFi doesn’t actually stand for anything. I’m going to start asking people for their IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence password from now on 😂
I've gone a bit nostalgic and started watching Buffy series 1. In one Internet based episode they kept referring to e-letters, which made me think who/when decided on e-mail.

My new (not cheap either) waterproof trousers aren't very waterproof.
Maybe they work for incontinence. I'll try weeing in them if I remember later on.
