Her son has had influenza a (I think) and now Rach is sick so it is most likely that and they go out knowing this and potentially get everyone else they come into contact with sick. All to go shopping! Considering their line of work I can’t believe she publicises this.

Not WKing, but I took it to mean parties til now have all been family because she's an early Feb baby - Prep, she wouldn't have known any class kids (not well), last year they moved to the new school, so started social groups again? So this is the first year where she's known the school kids to be able to invite them? Just how I interpreted it
