A. I'm not that surprised. I always found the "I love my wife" persona a bit cringy and too much. I've seen people mention that it came off as over compensating and something they've experienced with their cheating ex-partners

B. This seems unpopular but I almost get the sense that they possibly had an open relationship? Ariel's statement is a bit odd and not just because she's basically saying that they will work on the relationship. The story from Reddit also seems to suggest that Ned often flirted with other people in front of the guys and they didn't bat an eye. Just... odd. It's almost like they're mad that he has done this with an employee

C. I've seen people put a lot of weight on the 'consensual relationship' part of the statement and saying that a workplace relationship can't possibly be consensual. I wonder what people's opinions are on this?

Reddit peeps seem to think that 'consensual relationship' is lawyer speak (because she was an employee). It looks as if the TGs have known for a while, he was edited out of one of the most recent episodes (phone it in) where you can tell from the backdrop that they've cropped him out.

I have no doubt the whole ordeal has been expensive, especially if they had to buy Ned out (which is very likely) but these guys are far from poor and the money will likely be made back fairly quickly because everyone for the next few weeks will probably want to see if anything else has been said

I'm sure their sponsorships won't be affected too much because they kicked Ned out fairly quickly once it all went public too

I understand being angry but making it so public seems a bit extreme to me? I do wonder whether he felt like not enough was being done to remove Ned and that’s why he made the choice to go public with it

eugene's rage is so clear oh my god. honestly think they've handled this really well, he was officially signed out of the company almost two weeks before things blew up. obviously they can't unfairly dismiss alex bc of the power dynamics but how often they mentioned the rest of the team in a five min vid shows they clearly care about their staff and their wellbeing. upcoming sponsorships that they're still contractually obliged to post though ... awkward

So SNL did a Try Guys skit. It's not very funny TBH and minimalises the whole thing (probably because Ned is friends with an SNL writer)

It's crazy how much they're minimising what Ned did! It's also interesting how this sketch is emphasizing the "consensual" part, just like Ned's statement. Maybe he's really worried that he might get into more trouble for the relationship having been with a subordinate?

I feel like Buzzfeed probably has a financial stake because employees must have something in their contract like 'this has to be exclusive to us', so if you leave they essentially own the copyright to shows produced with them? (I could be wrong but I think an ex-employee mentioned something like this before, about how you don't really own your ideas there) Maybe the only way they could do it was if they agreed for Buzzfeed to have a stake. I'm guessing thats why none of the other ex-Buzzfeed staff continued their shows (especially when Kristin and Jen still work together/everyone from Ladylike also left).

I did always think it was weird that they were able to continue Try Guys on their own and even keep the name. This makes a lot of sense, Buzzfeed would never have just given them the copyright for free.

Ooof. I also suffer with RBF much like Eugene, but I actually really respect him for showing his clear upset and rage with Ned. So often, especially professionally, we are told to keep our feelings inside and not to allow them to dictate decisions etc. But Eugene is clearly betrayed and enraged with Ned and by Ned's behaviour - I'm glad that's clear to see. I certainly don't read the video as any kind of performance from the three remaining chaps - I don't think any of them are that good at pretending, tbh!

For me, what is wildly apparent is how disappointed they all are in the length of time this was going on for, but also how long they have invested in their company and brand and what Ned's actions have done to both of those things. No wonder Eugene is absolutely apoplectic, they have put close to a decade of work into this. I would be seeeeething.

isn’t eugene also a child of divorce himself too? i could imagine this hitting him a more personal level too, and thinking about the children affected, so i fully get his level of anger, his voice was so flat like he was trying to keep his cool.

it is crazy that, in terms of how they talked about the backstory, that it was ned who pushed to start their own brand etc, and it is ned who has basically blown it all up.

looks like she decided to stay with him then- I mean that’s her choice,she doesn’t need to justify her reasoning behind it to anyone, but am a tad annoyed that Ned got his cake & ate it too.
