There was a discussion on the radio the other day about how Vet prices have increased by 60% since 2019.
Around 6 large pharmaceutical companies own most of the UK's Vet practices & they constantly pressure the practices to increase their prices.
We've seen this here, our Vet used to be 2 guys with their own little practice, often they wouldn't even charge for a check-up, but one retired & the other guy ended up selling to a large company, prices shot up.

I know what you mean, we used to have a local vet, good as gold, wouldn't charge for a dew claw etc, we changed vets 3 years ago, over £500 to have our boy neutered (his testicles never dropped, and the thought of him maybe getting cancer) he's also been in for a dew claw, nearly £40! Haven't got pet insurance, we'd get a credit card if we needed it for him.

What a lovely boy, is he a staffie? I do miss having a terrier, but my collie won't entertain another dog, we've tried, but the love of his life (and mine) we had to tps 3 years ago, blimey I really miss him

Is your dog a Jack Russell?
Maybe just normal if he's had a busy day or a touch of arthritis?
Glucosamine might help.
Greyhounds usually end up with arthritis/bad hips late in their life, same with most larger dogs.

She looks good for that, I'd have said younger!

He's a border collie (I've probably mentioned my Jr on here, he was my boy I lost 3yrs ago)
He's quite a big collie, so am expecting issues with arthritis, my last collie had same issues, glucosamine is a good idea, think I'll defo get him some.

Have you tried Rescue Remedy for nervous dogs? I used to give it to my old boy and it helped a bit!

Our previous Grey used to get prescribed a sedative, she's trying to sleep & is more annoyed about the noise tonight.

My dogs doing my head in these last few days. He never wants to sit still. I'm ill and he just won't stay still I don't have the energy. My mum put his lucky mat somewhere when she stayed at my house and I can't find it to distract him for a bit. He has had his snuffle mat. He is currently lying still (finally) watching crufts, the dogs walking into the arena

Mine just got over 5 days of it, possibly from a germ picked up at the country park (muddy puddle drinking!). On vets advice I gave Pro-biotics bought from Amazon and a diet of chicken and rice although he only really improved when he kind of starved himself for a day (didn't like the pb paste on his chicken that day!)

He did drink some gross pond water so I wonder if that has something to do with it. Ive bought him some probiotics and gave him some tonight. Ive got loads of chicken boiling as well just in case.
I'm hoping he's just overdone it and eaten a lot of rich things and drank some gross water

Never tried a cooling mat, he's totally ruined and won't use a basket, a sofa or bed is more comfy for him! We do have slate floors so he'll sprawl out on them. I've tried the ice, he's not interested! He's always been the same about drinking since he was a pup, he's coming up for 7 soon, my other dogs never did this!

Ah bless. My girl loves being on the sofa and bed but she's good when she's too hot she'll take herself off to her cooling mat/her own bed.

Honestly wish there was more we could do for them when it's hot, it's unbearable for us so I'd hate to feel how they feel

The place on my arm I was thinking was just above my elbow on the inside or on the side of my leg above my ankle. Not getting it for a while so got time to decide I just wish I could see it in both places to see which I prefer

Could you upload a picture of your dog and the places you want to see it to ChatGPT and ask it to show you what it would look like as a tattoo? I dunno if that's possible or if it would even be helpful!

Ok, her toe has straightened by itself & she's walked around fine this week, glad we never took up the offer of expensive X-rays to be honest as it would have been pointless extra expense.
Animals recover so quick, always amazes me.

These all sound like good things to do. Maybe if he does start getting angry, put him down if it's safe to do so? So he learns that anger = not being held?

The treat thing might be a bit confusing because if he is angry and then people give him a treat, he might think he's being rewarded for that anger?

She means give him a treat before he is angry so if I have him they come over the give him a treat then ignore him so he will associate people coming over as a good thing. But yes I think I will put him down and ignore him if he does it. Thank you
He also hates brushing which I'm working on but he seems to do well then gets angry hopefully just needs work

That’s amazing. I think from your previous posts we’re in the same area, I’ve only ever heard good things about the local rescues. Mine was down west and I can’t rate them highly enough, they’ve been fantastic. Even now if I have any issues they’ll help with training.

That's really so good of them to still help you, shame most folks never think of rehoming, just want a cute puppy.
I'd soo love another dog, but the one we have won't entertain it, we've really tried, hasn't worked.

This is my boy, he's an 18 month old rescue Staffy x Lurcher. He's the most ridiculous dog, loves the kids so much, and makes us happy every day despite his shenanigans ETA his nails were in need of a trim here, have been cut since, despite his best efforts.

We try to take her every Saturday for a run now, definitely helps, she usually sleeps all afternoon & evening afterwards.

Thankyou, we haven’t made it too far from the house yet as he’s busy enjoying the new sights, smells and sounds and don’t want to overwhelm him but there is definitely a waggy tail and loves everyone he meets. He’s also starting puppy classes in a couple of weeks which I’m really looking forward to.

Haha don't worry, we've been taking daisy out for the past three weeks and only in the past few days have we actually made it further from the house. She loves to sniff everything and try to walk up people's driveways It's so lovely when you see that tail wagging though!

Puppy classes are great for them to get to meet other dogs, we've really enjoyed our first couple Daisy was absolutely exhausted after her first one, she literally barely ate her lunch as she was so tired and just wanted to sleep on my feet for most of the afternoon. So overwhelming for them but its definitely worth it, helping us to train her and get her into better habits.
