I really want to get into running and have tried to before but I can never find comfortable trainers so my feet end up hurting so I give it up. Can anyone recommend some trainers that are good for flat feet that are a reasonable price?

Can anyone recommend a good sports bra? I’m a size 10 34D if that helps

Been slacking a bit the last week or so.. well I say slacking I’ve been a busy bee 😂 did 5.5k tonight in 31 mins and on Saturday 29 mins.. gonna try and do a 10k at the weekend I’m dying for a good stretch

Ive used these sports bra’s for years, good value and such a good price feel very “secure” when out running 😂

I'm not really feeling that safe about going out at the moment so I'm trying to maintain my fitness in the house... bike intervals are a killer! I personally hate the gym and having all those sweaty men around and people looking at you 😂 there's always that weird Gym Smell as well!

I have the flabbiest bingo wings going on so I'm trying to turn some of it into muscle. Also I have no boobs and apparently growing your pecs can increase your curves? I'm there honestly.
I mean they won't grow them but the firmer muscle underneath can help them stand out more.... Or just embrace the no boob life like me lol (I should point out it took me several years of crippling body image to get to this place) but I hardly notice it any more and it makes running and other sport so much easier!

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I’m not getting any faster? I go running about 4 times a week, usually a 5k (or the odd 10k but they’re so hard!). My 5k time is about 28 minutes, which I got about 2 months ago and was so so happy with, but now I just can’t get any faster and it’s really frustrating! If anything I’m getting slower? Anyone got any tips?
I’m the same as you

I ran just over 5 miles (8km) yesterday in 52 min (10 min miles approx) .. I normally do 3 miles in 27 mins.. not impressed 🤣 I obv struggle in the wind

I’m also too competitive I share it all on Strava so compare myself to other people constantly

Yes! Flap your arms around regularly when you’re running… I find that helps me so much!

also, I swear by my microwave wheat bag, 2 mins in the microwave when I get back from a run helps loosen my shoulders
I’ll give that a go, thank you! I’ve noticed that when I put my phone in my sports bra during my run (😅) that I tend to hold whatever arm is on that side of my body closer and move it less which causes muscle pain in my shoulder, so I feel like moving my arms around would probably make a big difference as you say!

Hello! The weather is getting better so I'm going to start running on my lunch break in the park

Any advice for stretches before and/ or after?

Thanks I’m doing a half marathon in august so got a goal to get me moving haha. I’ve been having gels whilst running which really seem to help me. Maybe psychological maybe not!
I’m sure you’ll do well too - the app really does work it’s magic.
Is that virtual or in person? I've been tempted to sign up for some kind of race to give me further motivation but unsure with the logistics of it all.

Honestly if you're getting it mainly for workouts I'd get a garmin. You'll get much better tracking, some smart watch features and you won't be locked into the Apple ecosystem.
Thanks, I’ve seen loads of people with those too so I’ll definitely have a look :)

Side question does anyone know good sports-bras for running? I’m mostly running in some high impact ones from VS but anything more than 30mins and the straps get really uncomfortable.
I’m quite big, so most I’ve tried so far haven’t been very good. They need to offer A LOT of support 😅

Could someone please recommend a 20-30 minute home work out please, trying to find something that doesn’t involve to much jumping up and down as I live in a top floor flat and don’t want to annoy the neighbours.

I just tried to send you a message so we don't spam here but it won't let me. Would you be able to send me one please?

Omg I know! So I'm in Aus so we're pretty open now but my motivation for home gym work puts during our months long lock down was non existent. You can definitely do stuff from home though. I can point you in the direction of some resources if you'd like?
Thank you, that would be great 😊

What are your feet like?

Ran for years and my feet are just a mess of callouses and blisters no matter what shoes - it is just the volume of running I do. Bit sick of it now and softening them up even if it makes running harder lol. Surely I'm not the only one with bad feet?!
My feet are soooo bad!

My feet as a mess, lots of callouses, blisters and my big toe nails often get bruised, turn black and fall off  I'm running my first marathon later this year and worried about my feet already. Fear I'll lose all my toe nails and finish with tons of blisters!

Does anyone have advice for increasing leg strength/speed? I'm up to running 30 minutes plus now in Z3, but just literally cannot get my legs to move faster even though I'm not out of breath... it's really frustrating as I want to try and push myself more but my body isn't letting me!
I started doing stair sprints recently and I think that's really helping build strength in my legs. Maybe also try running with someone who is just slightly faster than you to try and keep up with them. I just ran my fastest 5k and it was because I was running with someone ever so slightly faster than I would normally go but I felt compelled to keep pushing on to keep up with them. Joining park runs etc are good for that if you don't know any other runners as you can scope out someone in the first few minutes of the run who look like they're going at a good pace for you then follow them and try to keep up with them!

Speed work/interval type training, eg running as fast as you can for 0.5 miles, then walking for 1 mile (you can obviously alter the distances) is also meant to be good but I've not personally tried that yet. I'm planning on starting to try speed work stuff next week so will report back!

Also more generally I would say just give yourself time and keep at it. If you want to go faster I'm sure it will come with time, I've been running for about 3 years and have only managed to start increasing my pace in the last couple of months. And you know what if you don't get any quicker but enjoy it and/or get benefit out of running then so be it, not everyone needs to be super speedy :)

It’s weird because I feel like I’m going fast when I run and I can’t push myself any more, but my pace is so slow (about 5’40 per km) and I see other people I know running it between 4-5 minutes per km. I don’t seem to be getting any faster with time either. Has anyone got any tips because it’s starting to get me down!!

To be honest you're best to go for a proper shoe fitting at a running shop where they can analyse your gait and recommend the type of shoe that will work for you. What suits my feet might not be what suits yours, currently I have New Balance 860 V10, which are stability shoes. I love them, but you might not need a stability trainer, so they might not be the right thing for you. Definitely worth investing in a good pair of trainers though, they're pricy but they are the only equipment you really need for running.
Thank you.

Non-essential shops are closed at the moment, but I will look into it at some point. You're right though. I was looking at various reviews and for the same shoes, some people said they are fantastic whereas others said they are terrible.

I think I should go back to one of the apps. I'm just running and pausing when I need to then running again, but not sure that's working for me.

I've got compression socks for when I run in shorts. It was the run on Thursday that pulled it i think when I was running in leggings cos it was wet 🙄

Any tips for pacing? I always think I set off too fast. I can consciously slow myself down, but then find I've sped up again after a short period.
Afraid not with pacing. At the moment I run at my natural pace and slow down when I need to. Sometimes I do find myself running to the tempo of whatever is playing in my ears.

Calf wise make sure you stretch them and warm them down properly. Like I said mine are big and hurt like buggery when they are sore

I’m after some advice.... I’ll try & keep it short!!
Last summer I started the couch to 5k all was going well for the first 4 weeks or so then I got shin splints 😩 so took 2 full weeks off & went back slowly but still kept getting them gave up 😢
I’m desperate to start again but really scared they will come back, any tips on what I could maybe do to avoid getting them again ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated ☺
