I've never gotten a blister and routinely run half marathons and have trained and run for one full
I like the steigen no show ones because I prefer a thinner sock material. Cotton is a bad material for socks and make sure they're sweat wicking. Where are you getting the blisters?
on the bottom on the ball of my foot. I didn’t have this issue with my Adidas shoes so I think it’s an issue with the Hokas in particular, since buying them I’ve read a couple of bad reviews where people are having the same issue. Thicker padded running socks seem to help but when I get above 5k that’s when I start to feel the pinch on the bottom of my feet.

I did a 5km trail run tomorrow and currently soaking in the bath cos will need to go out tomorrow as well. I normally do Sat/Mon/Wed, but didn't go out yesterday. Cos of the weather.

Can anyone recommend me a jacket? I don't want to spend a fortune, but needs something lightweight, shower proof and won't just build up condensation cos I'm a hot runner...
I have a lightweight 'wind proof' jacket I got from Decathlon which is good. It was inexpensive too. I despise running in the wind. Last week because of the direction the wind was blowing in, the last 2km of my 5k route was running directly into it on a plain between two fields and it was absolute hell 😂 the jacket really does protect you though which I find impressive for how light it is! I should know being on the North West coast, can be quite extreme here at times!

Jacket is shower proof too although I don't bother with it unless it's absolutely pissing it down. I've just been for a run in the rain now in a sports t shirt, when I do wear anything more I always regret it once I've warmed up. Learnt this from doing a 10k once and it was like -2 and snowing, I put loads of layers on then spent most of the run trying to take them off 😂

Wow on the HR stuff. My resting rate is around 68BPM and average when I'm running is 176BPM. I'm 28, 5'6" and 156lbs (working on that number ) don't think I could run any slower if I tried seeing as I average 32 mins on a 5k. Feel like I'm mega unfit now :ROFLMAO:

Can anyone recommend a backpack for running? I’ve joined a gym that is closer to walk/run to than to drive so planning to run there and back, however I need to carry my lifting shoes and a bottle of water. Nothing too big, just needs to be waterproof and comfortable.

I’m after a small rucksack that has a lot of adjustability because I hate things flapping around when I’m running!
Ooh so I used to run to work (back in the day when I had an office) and I had an Osprey tempest which I loved. It was much bigger than what you’d probably need though but it was fully adjustable and really comfortable even with loads of stuff in it! I’ve got friends who rate Decathlon running bags as they are great value - if it’s just shoes and water and other small items you’d def be able to get away with a trail running hydration pack type bag.

Am just about to head off for my morning running having eaten some bananas and a couple of energy drinks. I'll be taking a drink with me in my bumbag just to keep me hydrated despite the cold damp weather.

Hopefully will try for another 10 miler. But because I live out in a small rural area we don't have proper pavements, and therefore have to use roads and tracks which often don't have lightening. So its important to be visible, and also not to wear headphones for listening to music (which often helps when running). But you have to have your wits about you, so no music this time

OH has his first marathon next Sunday. I’m feeling less than well today and I’m terrified I’ve caught covid again - despite being double jabbed and still mask wearing - or just a bad cold (there’s been one going around work which seems to take people out for about three days) and I’ll pass it on to him for next week. Bit much to tell him to sleep elsewhere and stay away from me?! 😂😬

I got injured in week 7 first time round. As the pools were open I went swimming instead but when I tried to run agai I picked a week 4 run and struggled. This lead me to start again and wee 7 again saw me injured. This time the pools were shut. I have been off running for around 3 weeks but managed the last of my week 7 runs first time back. I think the shorter time off helped.
I would try whatever your next one was. If you have to stop and walk so be it. Then next time try one a little easier or continue with the program depending on how you did
Thank you for this. I'm going to head out tomorrow and see how wellI do without pushing myself. Gutted to have got that far and had to stop! But determined to complete the program (mainly because my partner thought I would give up and raised an eyebrow when I bought off road running shoes....I will prove him wrong :ROFLMAO: )

Can anyone recommend a supplement or something to help with dodgy knees? Mine aren’t in pain but my left knee just doesn’t feel right, a bit clicky and uncomfortable. I take vit c, d and fish oil omega 3 supplements already

Are sprints are good way of building on strength/cardio then?
I don't know any science per say but I know for me doing 1 sprint run a week where I really pushed it to my absolute maximum on the sprints (back before last lockdown when I went to the gym regularly) really helped me feel like I could run further/at a better pace and be less breathless on my regular runs.

I just tried to send you a message so we don't spam here but it won't let me. Would you be able to send me one please?

Omg I know! So I'm in Aus so we're pretty open now but my motivation for home gym work puts during our months long lock down was non existent. You can definitely do stuff from home though. I can point you in the direction of some resources if you'd like?
I couldn’t figure it out either so I went on forum business and there was an admin post from June saying they’d changed the rules so only long term members can send PMs 🙃 ah well xx

Good luck to both of you! @SpiceWeasel xx

I’m going to have to make a doctors appointment because this happens regularly it’s putting me off running longer distances tbh 🥴
Def get it checked out but remember that exercise (particularly running) really gets the digestive system going so it could just be that! Also, if you are anxious, that will go straight to your stomach xx

I did (not in 60 mins like they said but 70) but not bad considering at the start I couldn’t even run 2 mins without struggling! I used to run a few years back but ended up with a nasty kidney issue which stopped me and I never got back into running. I used to go to the gym a lot pre lockdown 1 though and did spin classes/weights/the step machine. But hadn’t done anything from March until November when I picked the app up!
I miss this machine so much. I’m still recovering from a knee injury and taking it slow. Managing to do a couple of 5k’s a week on the treadmill. I’ll take that for now until the weather improves.

I have had PF for about 6 months, just slowly trying to run again, have done two lots of 3k over the last two weeks, as opposed to 15k a week.

I have always worn Asics but for some reason at the start of the year I got a pair of Mizuno. In my head, Mizuno ruined my foot.
Anyone else had a problem with Mizuno?

Ooh I wonder if this is what I get. My pain is a little lower though.
I find when I get knee pain it's because something else is wrong and the pain is referring to my knee. I'd definitely recommend seeing a physio if you can (and then doing the exercises they give you 😂😂)
