I wonder how this is going to go when he goes to school and they cannot take him out for a quick trip every couple of weeks.
She’ll be thrilled! Easier for her to travel solo if she has a legit excuse not to bring him.

She’s such a miserable bore. Everything about her is miserable. She complains about everything! I also looked at her Strava and she doesn’t even really run anymore either so she may we well close her whole IG account as it’s completely pointless!

I might be too sensitive here, but I don't like how her son is described as "overactive" on this story. Toddlers are supposed to be active! The "over" here suggests he's too active for Charlie because he doesn't just fit into her old lifestyle

And her hospital work is one day a week, not much balancing needed there

This makes her sound way more impressive than she actually is 😆 and no way will she be running a pb in 3 months time unless she does some serious graft!

That wording has really ducked me off today! So far from the truth it's unbelievable!!

I felt the same when I read it. He is a toddler, no adjective needed!

A handful of races in 2024? I feel like she did more than five races in October alone!

She probably means a handful that she actually paid for…
or a handful that she ran, doesn’t she run/walk them all? run/walk is a great strategy for beginners, injury come back etc. but she’s been running for years, done loads of marathons, is relatively young, able bodied, has a gym to train in……yet still run/walks all the time

I used to (years ago) find her pretty inoffensive but at the moment she’s grating a lot. Maybe it’s because it’s still dark, or that I’m ill but she’s coming across as so tone deaf. Constantly promoting expensive races abroad, moaning about no time to exercise when she has an £££ gym at home and has a pt, now she’s going on about doing the Serpentine swim (£60 for only 2 miles).

That isn’t even taking into account the multiple trips away.

I follow an influencer who used to live very near me and yesterday announced she wanted to get a job (😬). She said her paid promotions had dried up and she wanted to change her life. She was stressing out because she had looked at her feed more objectively and it wasn’t what employers would want to see represent their company. I just thought it was interesting because I wonder how many of the likes of these running influencers actually think about what they post in terms of future employment?

I doubt any of them think about the future, they just assume the free ride will last forever. Or they have rich parents to fall back on. Who would employ Charlie? She spends half the year abroad and struggles to work one day a week!

I feel the same as you, I used to think she was ok, were a similar age and were a similar pace etc and she seemed to be balancing things (nannying/studying/running) in a relatively realistic way.

I suspect she's keeping her hand in with the NHS as a long term insurance policy which is quite sensible, although I don't think she actually would need to work.

Influencing is one of those things that is a potentially ok platform to switch into a career, but it depends what type of influencer and what type of career. Someone like Charlie, even without her current "employment" I think wouldn't find her feed a hindrance to employment, and probably has some good examples of pitching/selling/organising etc that might help with some jobs.

I think also that a lot of influencers come from money anyway, which his how they managed to have such an aspirational lifestyle, so actually it's not the end of the world if the partnerships dry up.

Some people have their flash in a pan moment and earn a reasonable chunk, but not enough to live forever on, then disappear and assuming they haven't done anything too egregious on the net they will probably be ok. That pacer guy who felt someone up on the job even seems to have found other employment and seems to be sing pacing stuff. Even Jack Monroe seems to have found some sort of work that isn't twitter.
