Sorry but this post about Battersea parkrun really rubs me up the wrong way. This is still a fairly new parkrun and the team is doing their best trying to manage over 1k runners every single week. Yes, you have to wait a little bit to get your token but honestly, it is parkrun who cares about their time and whether it is off by a few seconds because people mess around in the funnel. This is a free volunteer run event, perhaps not the best place for a sense of entitlement.

Edited to add: they messaged her saying they are struggling for volunteers and now she is calling on people to volunteer.... Perhaps she can lead by example?
I feel exactly the same as you. Parkrun is a run, not a race - if you're complaining that your finish time doesn't match your watch, then you've missed the whole point of parkrun.

She deleted it and changed the story to say she wasn’t criticising the volunteers.

Urgh honestly who cares if they add a few seconds on to your 30 odd min parkrun?! duck off Charlie. I was a parkrun event director for several years and I’d have been SO pissed off if someone had done a miserable bleeping post like she had. Perhaps she’d like to volunteer? I haven’t seen one post of hers where she’s done that?

Criticising a free, volunteer led event on a public platform will not win you any friends.

How many times has she volunteered at parkrun? Couldn't see any on what I assume is her profile (but it also has her listed as SM??)

What did she say?
The initial post (which she deleted) was that her parkrun time was 45 seconds slower than her watch time because there weren’t enough volunteers as usual to manage the funnel and people were cutting across lines.

She should ask for her money back. Oh wait it’s not a race and it’s run by volunteers. Battersea is huge, she’s lucky she got a time at all.

Jesus wept, if she didn’t walk/run she would be a lot more than 45 seconds faster

Going to out myself here… but Battersea yesterday dealt with 1000 runners with an ambulance on the course. Give a tit if your time is 45 seconds out?! Hopefully the person in the bloody ambulance is ok!!

Honestly she moans about not having time to train and juggling everything now she is asking for advice to do an autumn marathon and swim serpentine. Why? Just focus on one thing rather than trying to start loads and then complain about being overwhelmed.

Remember a few years ago she had a post about doing an ironman, was quickly abandoned !

Next week she’ll be looking to book into a Hyrox.

I found her moaning about not being trendy anymore in terms of running clothes bizarre, also moaning the "trendy" loose shorts didn't work for her. Came across as pretty immature. It's ok to want to be fashionable but with age you start to realise you also want to be comfortable and become less fussed about others opinions. She shared a number of comments who were essentially saying this but her response was she wants to be both trendy and comfy. I think she's struggling with becoming older and what her purpose is, and it shows in her content.

Is she really getting that much engagement for trying on different gear? She’s always asking what she should try next. Her recommendations mean nothing to me.

Probably part of a beg for some running gear from a company trying to do trendy but comfy

Remember when she said she didn’t race enough last year? Announcements so far: do the superhalfs this year (she didn’t specify whether she intends to do all of them) starting with Berlin tomorrow, autumn marathon (Chicago do we think?) and swim serpentine.

She did about 20 more races than I did 🤣

So the whole superhalfs thing seems to be a PR gig with a company that matches runners with charities to get charity places for races, although she has not declared it as an ad that seems to be what is going on...
