I'm not sure it really matters? Also, it's not always in your control as it's not always as simple as deciding to have a baby and it immediately happens xx

Exactly. My own mother has said to me “ oh it’s quite an age gap.” Well I didn’t plan on having a missed miscarriage and then being told it was a partial molar pregnancy where you are not ALLOWED to get pregnant for at least six months until tests say you are all clear.

I’m just happy I’m lucky enough to be healthy and pregnant again. End of.

There’s four years between me and my Brother and I couldn’t imagine a worse gap! I think it’s better to have 2 years as I’ve met siblings with two years between them and they actually talk! Go out together etc etc and the relationship seems more balanced, whereas with four years the older children is deffo the leader and the younger the follower/gets stomped on.

I have two girls, 13 months apart and my life is hell... it’s amazing but such hard work, they’re 1&2 but honestly wouldn’t change it for a thing 😊

Just under 2 years between my two boys. I had this idea that they would get along and be very close, but they both have autism and delays, and constantly rub each other up the wrong way. They do have their sweet moments together now that they are growing up a bit, but they’re few and far between. The good things about their smaller age gap is that they have similar interests, both love playing in the park, soft play etc so finding things to do together isn’t an issue, though they generally do their own thing once there. Also, when youngest was born, we used a lot of the things we’d purchased for eldest as we’d held onto it so we saved a lot of money.

I don’t think there is such a thing aa a perfect age gap; a lot will come down to their individual personalities, how they are raised, and obviously, additional needs and other factors.

Thank you my lovely. It’s a been a very tough road to get to this stage. I’m currently two weeks away from my due date.

It was the scariest time of my life. I’d never heard of it either until it happened to me. Worse still, as you know you are suppose to be notified almost immediately if it is a molar pregnancy to have strict monitoring. My results got left in a tray for four months before the hospital realised and I had a random letter asking for me to return for a consultation. Administrative error they said. Got the shock of my life when they explained it had been a partial molar and all this time I had been walking around, assuming I was fine and trying for another baby which I shouldn’t of been doing! Thankfully an emergency blood test showed I was all ok and they had got it all. To say it messed me up would be an understatement.

I won’t breathe a sigh of relief till I’ve got this little one in my arms.

Hope you are well now xx

I always find these ones Interesting as it varies on so much, what works for one doesn’t work for another.

My son is almost 3 and it’s something that’s started to come into my thoughts a lot. It worries me so much as there’s never a right time, we might not fall pregnant again and I also had obstetric cholestasis so v likely to get again. My job is hectic and I get v little mat leave so originally we wanted to wait til he was in school but now I’m not so sure!

I have a 5 month old ive been thinking this too

Theres a 7, 14 and 12 year age gap between me and my brother & sisters. I absolutely hated it. Ive always told myself if i have children, i want them close in age. Dont think i could handle 2 under 2. Maybe a 3/4 year gap 🤞

There’s a year and a half between my first two. They get on really well. Then 3 years between my 2nd and 3rd. 1st born and 3rd get on well. 2nd and 3rd don’t. 🤷‍♀️
I’m due to have my 4th next year. Here we have a much bigger age gap, my eldest will be 15 when baby comes. Though to be honest all have been really interested and supportive about baby. It’s also nice they will remember a lot and be able to more actively share first steps, Christmas etc.
I don’t think it matters about age gaps to be honest, I find it’s more when you have the energy and are ready to have another. That’s different for everyone.

I have an 8 yr old and have been ttc for two years. This is something that worries me, the age gap is getting bigger and bigger!
My oldest two were 13 and 15 when their sibling was born, and they have an amazing relationship,

2 years between my first two, then they were 13 and 15 when my third were born, they all have fantastic relationships, older two are the best of friends and there for each other, youngest has a different relationship with each of the older ones

There's 3 and a half years between my two, I found it great as my eldest was potty trained, at preschool a few days a week and able to understand why mummy couldn't always do everything straight away. There's just under 3 years between my sister and I, we clashed a lot growing up but we're bezzy mates now 😂

3.5 years between my boys which I thought would be perfect. But sadly they can’t stand each other and fight from morning to night! Not sure it’s a age thing or a personality thing but they have never got on and I’m not sure they ever will.

I have five years between my little girl and baby boy. It’s fab in terms of my daughter helps out (she is such a mother hen so loves helping) but now that my sons nearly one I’m starting to notice the down sides to a five year age gap - into totally different toys / activities, etc. If we ever have a third I’ll definitely have a two year age gap max!

4yrs 10 months. She was born in the July and he started school reception in the September. So I have one who's oldest in the year and one who will be the youngest.

14 years between me and my sister, we didnt have a relationship as kids as the gap was huge. We get on well now but not the sisterly relationship i see others have an i am envious of.

my daughter is 2 and hoping to give her sibling soon as I want them to be close and have what I didn’t have.

I have 5 years between mine, it wasn't meant to be that way but my body had other ideas.
When my youngest was born it was amazing, we would take my eldest to school and have all day together just us, I could give him my undivided attention during school hours. I am grateful now that I also had lots of quality time with my eldest before his brother was born.
However they're now 3 and 8 and its tough, they're into different things, they fight a lot!!! And my eldest will often say things like "remember when it was just us before <baby brother> was born, we did this and this without worrying about him"
I feel like he remembers lots about being an only child because he was so much older!
Ideally I would have had 3 years.

That said, theres 2 years between me and my sister, and 11 between me and my brother and we've always got on amazingly well. So sometimes maybe its luck of the draw rather than age?
