I was scrolling down the comments under the latest video of Chateau Unwrapped. Sunday morning, lashing rain etc... You know haha.
I read a comment about Cat and how she's fun and bubbly etc and how nice it would be to have a vlog about her day at Lalande.
Cat answered saying thank you and adding that her days at Lalande are not very vloggable, mainly household chores and occasionally a cocktail cabinet to paint.
Comment posted four days ago. Her name's Cat Brooks.
PS No idea how to do a screen shot from YouTube...

@ChocLili thanks for the youtube comments - it seems we're not the only ones that have spotted Michael's penchant for fancy luggage!

@Calvignac that's very interesting! To do a screenshot on a lap top you press the windows button (with the four squares) and prt sc key at the same time. It's saved as a screen shot that you can crop. If you're on an i phone you do the same by pressing the home button and the off button at the same time. There may be an easier way of doing it but that's the only way I know!

ps glad there are other Gerry supporters on here!

Depending on the keyboard just pressing prt sc is enough. Some countries actually write Print in the language of the country on the key. Then you can paste the image into Paint or PowerPoint for example and resize/cut/modify (cutting out names, draw a circle ...) and safe it as jpg/png.

As much as I find the pressie-giving both creepy and perplexing, it does make me laugh that whenever an item of clothing arrives for Stephanie from one of the fawning fans it fits PERFECTLY.
Gerry did get on my wick at times but boy oh boy did I admire the positive messages he gave about managing his treatment etc......he was reassuring and positive and obviously very aware of how what he said could impact on other people who may face the cancer journey. He won my heart at that point and I will happily listen to all his puns ad Infinitum now. What he underwent won’t have been easy or comfortable whatever he says.....
I think he is a Credit to All Mankind and am willing to arm wrestle Isabel if she thinks different 😆
I completely agree with you. He is a brave soul & if the chips were down, I’d want him on my side. I think he’d be a fantastic loyal friend. I have no doubt he looks after Isobel in Framingham & keeps a caring eye on her. I really like Isobel - being half french myself I understand her rather abrupt manner, she must have been an amazing Nurse/Manager for the NHS. I’m sure she ruled those wards with a rod of iron. I have great respect for her work ethic then & now. She is immensely attractive at nearly 80 but no-one should mess with her ! Stephanie is an adult now & can handle her mother superbly & with humour, but for all she says, I’m sure Isobel’s distinct style cannot have been easy for a young girl to grow up alongside.

Cat is my favourite at the moment, her sense of humour is awesome, she's everything I love in a Brit! :D I think Stephanie's childhood must have been strange, caught between a pretty strict mother (she mentioned once Isobel stopped reading books to her at age 3 or 4!) and what seems to have been a day-dreaming, very idealistic father. I have huge respect for Isobel, but she would be difficult to live with. There are so many moments in the vlogs where people laugh off her rages as funny, but I don't always find them that funny, more frightening and uncomfortable. Stephanie and Gerry are adults, their mother has no right to chastise them as if they were little children, they can do what they want. I know a thing or two about strict mothers, and if I had to live with mine I'd probably lose my mind. But then, mine actually has learned not to tell me how to live my life as an adult woman.

A red flag for me was when Stephanie told us that from the age of three, she was sent on her own to France by plane, with her little tag around the neck, to spend all her school holidays with her grandmother.
Another big red flag was when Isabelle admitted that children were not her cup of tea.
All this was in their first videos.
Must have been difficult to grow up with such a strict model.

Yep....The old adage “ heart of gold but tongue of a viper”.... the old Matrons/ nurse managers were often like that...

@Calvignac I remember being sent alone, aged 8 or 9, to stay with relatives living in Germany. They hung a big sign around my neck saying Unaccompanied Minor, and I spent the whole flight worried they had muddled me up with a travelling coal miner and so there would be no-one at the airport to meet me.
Agreed, about Isabelle and her 'resting witch face'. I find the instant transition from grim to smiling rather disconcerting!

Stephanie said in a recent birthday vlog that her mother never buys her a present for her birthday & her mum was there & confirmed this? I find this odd not buying your child a gift,

Brilliant - I have never heard that saying. The scariest teachers at school were often the kindest at heart - you usually found this out when you were no longer in their classroom .

Does anyone here watch The Positano Diaries? More stripped back and less frilly....but sort of the same visual feast and warm fuzzy feeling....
The woman who does that has a Patreon but is quite firm in her vlogs about boundaries etc......I notice she follows SJ........
yes, I do & I love it . It’s so interesting , a real window to another world . She’s very natural and unaffected . I like her and her family a lot from what I see . Positano seems a most in beautiful place 😍

Hi everyone I'm new here - it's so refreshing to read the comments from like-minded people who share the same observations about the characters at Lalande. I've been watching the Chateau Diaries from the very beginning as a way of getting through lockdown and it's become addictive viewing! I much preferred the the older episodes and the interaction between Stephanie, her family and the volunteers. Stephanie is lovely and non-judgemental obviously quite wealthy, educated and accomplished. She has a beautiful singing voice and such expressive hands. Marie seems to be quite subdued now and it's a shame because she appears to be such a lovely gentle person and gifted florist. Cat is a breath of fresh air, an absolute asset to the mix, so funny and hope she stays around. Isabelle quite a formidable lady! Hanni, well.....such strange behaviour/gestures from an obviously intelligent woman. Finding the gift unwrapping rather distasteful/embarrassing and absolutely agree with many other comments that it should end - there must be a charitable organisation who would be glad to receive all those gardening gloves, hats etc., It's true, those dresses always seem to fit perfectly - the one with the hood was an absolute stunner - very brave of Stephanie to try it on! Stephanie and Michael used to have such a lovely rapport in the earlier episodes but it all feels a bit strained now. Thought that an earlier comment (sorry I can't remember who it was) about having a chateau board game was hillarious! Love Dan the gardener, Annelise and their lovely little boys, Selmar, Diesel and Natti. Not sure where all this is going but it's certainly very entertaining!

Welcome @Silver Ash (and indeed anyone else who's recently joined). I remember my excitement when I first found this forum - it was almost as exciting as when I first discovered The Chateau Diaries. The great thing about being on here is that despite us all being massive Stephanie fans, people do call out odd behaviour (which is a real no-no on youtube or one of the La Lande dedicated facebook pages). In fact I now positively welcome any odd or shady behaviour on the vlogs, youtube comments or facebook pages as I know someone on here is going to have spotted it too and say something funny about it.

@soll my heart goes out to poor little eight year old you worried about being mistaken for a miner!

Another thought just occurred to me, if Stephanie ever uses @Lululime's Lion Tamer's Chair/phone comment to fend off Isabelle when she's filming her in a bad mood, we'll know that she or someone at La Lande is reading this!

I’ve found that a scroll through the Cadeaux at the Chateau YouTube comments is great entertainment and perhaps a little insight into some of the more ardent ‘fans’ out there.

Quite a few “I sent my gift in August but I haven’t seen it” ones. Also praise for the wooden sign was effervescent - I can appreciate the work gone into it but the end result doesn’t excite me much.

The best bits are these. After a number of comments about the out-of-focus camerawork (shock - on a homemade video!) a fervent defender stepped in;

A war of words also ensued regarding Cat’s alleged mishandling of the precious gifts;

:unsure::ROFLMAO:
Lol at the rabid fans stating that Kat should be "scolded" for roughing up curtain tiebacks! I really have heard it all now LMAO. Have they never seen the way couriers and shipping companies bounce packages around the world, lobbing them from truck to truck etc. Kat daring to touch a thread of tie back for 2 seconds is outrageous to the Gift Gestapo! The amount of investment that total strangers have in all things Lalande is frightening!

Agree! 😂 If they can’t handle Cat “trashing” their sacred gifts, they shouldn’t send them. Heaven forbid the gifts end up discarded in the barn
