My Dad was a Scot, lived in Australia for over 60 years, and still had a broad Glaswegian accent. My friends used to think he was Yugoslavian and couldn't understand a thing he said!!

My very wonderful ex neighbors and still great friends are Glaswegian. June has a less thick accent Robert speaks and then says “ you didn’t understand a thing I said did you “haha , people just say yes . Some places here in Australia have very strong accents , Byron Bay and parts of WA for example

Every time I watch one of her vlogs, YouTube suggests the modern-day documentary "Queen of Versailles" to me. Jackie Siegel and SJ even look alike.

So... the update is basically about... Davey's plan for the gardens ? Do they think that Lalande is Versailles ?? Unbelievable but... so sad when you think of where does their money come from !

We learn also that the Chatelaine keeps on buying old panelling... With other's money of course (she need her "own" money for her travels in luxury places and for her fancy clothes/shoes/luggage/perfumes/wallpapers/candles/ etc etc

We learn too that Amaury (a big boy like him !) is sick. This chateau is a freezer for germs !

I still don't understand her Patrons. But each to their own. It's fascinating to watch.

The garden plans: many, many threads ago after Davey produced the first manifestation of his grand design, I remember commenting on here that it was akin to "Versailles meets the Hanging Gardens of Babylon".

It's a crazy, crazed scheme which will cost hundreds of thousands to implement. All the more idiotic when the facade of the entire building is in dire need of attention. Who knows what horrors and surprises lie beneath the crumbling rendering.

One could sense the envy SJ felt when she toured the gardens of Chateau de Puyvidal noted as 'remarkable' by the French government. I believe that she has been on a garden improvement mission since seeing that outstanding property. Stephanie was doing a favour reviewing and reporting on the property for the Americans wanting to buy a French chateau sight unseen. Two videos were posted in September 2021.

I agree with your post. It would be great for her to have some finacial stability, rather than relying on the kindness of friends.
Regarding the mental breakdown, I can only talk from my own experience, I would have loved to live without the depression and suicidal tendencies that followed with it, but it made me re-evalutate my life, what and who I am living for. I again agree FRK might not be as resilient to push through, but it might be healthy for her to finding coping mechanism that deal with the things which happened in her childhood.
Being dyslexic does not a bad florist make, that was never my point, I'm sorry if it came across like that. I do have a certain expectancy about her use of terminiology within the botanical realm, because she is a florist. E.g. to know it is called pine neddles; to know that Anna Fleurries painting was of nasturtium. I've seen her use correct names for flowers and plants, but sometimes she misses too. And I am saying this because a very limited vocabulary can eventually come across as juvenile.
I used to pity her, then when she left I was rooting for her, because everything seemed to go okay and she was standing on her own two feet, then the sob porn came and it was a let down - and I am not against people sharing their vulnerablity, I'm subscribed to The Cottage Fairy and she shares them all the time, the only difference between her and FRK, The Cottage Fairy overcame her difficulties. I'd really wish FRK became her own success story.

The whole garden thing Davy has planned for her is outrageous. Spending that kind of money on something that does not have to be there yet, as the HMN itself needs so much work done first, is truly evidence of SJ's megalomania. Her patrons should be extremely scared for what's coming their way as they are the only ones who are going to pay for it. The amount she is wheeling in at the moment pales in comparison to what she needs to make this happen, not just the construction of it but think about its maintenance. It's not just a one time thing too, she will need to be making an insane amount of money each month. She is already struggling to come up with content at the moment. It's just unsustainable, all of it. I think an intervention is long overdue and probably too late already: this woman is going to destroy everything she says she loves about her shittoo.
Her fans were ever so outraged over Sillymar and Tatts and their begging and I agree it was atrocious, but I find these fans rather hypocritical considering what their favorite charlataine is doing, not just once but for years to come.

The English garden will be a proper garden (4000-6000 individual plants) I thought it would be a low maintenance transitional woodland garden between the forest and chapel. It will need it's own gardener. The expense just maintaining it will be eating monthly a chunk of the donated funds. Crazy! When the money stops pouring in the gardens will be the first where to cut costs and slowly it will return to the state it's now.

She thinks her money grabbing has just started and she'll double or triple the amount in near future.

I watched, or rather listened to the gift grab and I've decided to punish myself by watching it again...let me finish!!!...and count every time they say the word "beautiful", then take a shot of something alcoholic with each time....I'll be passed out within the first 10 minutes.....

Well, what a surprise, another reason why the restorer can't start! And why is he doing the electrics in the chapel? Presumably he's not an electrician. Surely she should get someone else in to do the electricity before he starts working. The whole patron vlog was a waste of time. They've heard about the garden plans before. It was all because she can't claim that much at all is being done in the house. The whole garden thing is enormous, will cost an absolute fortune and most, if not all, of the patrons will be dead by the time it gets done if it ever does. In the meantime, there is no heating or efficient plumbing stem in a crumbling house! There's no excuse for her stupidity and procrastination about spending other people's money on what she sees as boring things but which are vital and yet she carries on spending on baubles and fripperies. It also makes me mad seeing her dancing around checking up on others working while she does virtually nothing. If I were Ian's wife, I would not be very happy seeing him having to crawl around like that when he must be over 60. Interesting that she called him a mole; I wonder, could that be in two different definitions of the word?

My crystal ball tells me that she'll get all of Davey's stuff done and then not hire more gardeners to maintain it and it will go to tit. What Kirsty was doing today, trimming the hedges in the enclosed garden, will have to be continuously done or it will be overgrown in a very short time. But that's kind of her modus operandi isn't it? There is so much going to rack and ruin in that "wanna-be chateau", (read farmhouse here).

If I were running the farmhouse as a business, I would have daily meetings with the staff and would not have to run outside and ask them questions and suddenly notice that the holly tree had berries - I would have noticed the flowers first, and known that there would be berries. SJ is a moron and the more I watch her ( like on the Patron video I watched here a while ago ) I see she is so like my sociopath ex husband, talk talk, bla bla smoke and mirrors. Makes me want to PUKE that her rabid fans cant or wont see this. ( well lets perhaps be fair, I was the same ) OH WELL

After watching the patreon video I am shocked, really shocked by SJ's audacity and patreons lack of challenging her. The farmhouse is uninhabitable presently with its heating and water issues. There are 30 outstanding projects, not including the gardens. The garden discussion shown was just fantasy land drivel; topped by AN UNDERCOVER CARPARK in a field in the middle of nowhere, with solar pannelling on the roof! Imagine irrigating all that garden.

This all started with funding for a survey for a bloody lake she drained herself. And the lake was barely mentioned.

And she has commenced buying up random pannelling for the rest of the chateau.

SJ has an illness or an addiction - shopping combined with hoarding. As Clara said - it really is time her family stepped in or she will end up with an unsaleable, uninhabitable farmhouse with 60 acres of dug up land with a camper parked in its woods (note how she referenced Selmar - how will he drive in and out?)

Kitchen old stove :

From the 1st of January 2022 on, coal and fuel stoves will be forbidden in France (global warming etc). The French government is putting in place schemes and grants to help people to switch toward a more ecological heating (pellet, condensation boilers, etc, etc).

If I'm correct, our Chatelaine did mention that she'll get a new stove for the kitchen ? Didn't she say that this stove will be given to Marie (Nic's Marie) ?

Or is it the other newer stove ?

I took it to be the newer one.

Getting there with the garden takes years but you have to start somewhere . Looking great the plans of Davey ! just one thing watching the video, not that important but caught my eye, that kitchen cupboard , the big one could need some paint on the doors and spode door knobs !

We’re in a major debate about it in the house. I think it should be repainted, but it’s the original 19th century paint so some of us think it shouldn’t be repainted. The fierce debate continues!


I think Stephanie’s generosity in saying ‘we are so blessed’ with the things that can be attained. I agree with Stephanie the follies & mill can be in the far future as everything is so costly it’s best in my opinion to pace yourself.




Or……instead of stone towers, Stone Gazebos. Four stone pillars for the corners, with a tower roof and maybe low, bench height (for seating) stone walls…..it would be absolutely lovely to sit and have tea or a cocktail overlooking the lake…a romantic meal for two or a cosy place to sit and read a book or a romantic place for a couple to stand and exchange their vows or a place to place long tables for lakeside dining………some lights strung about….saves the cost of all the stone for towers and is more useful then two enclosed towers.
Love the garden plans!!

I loved seeing the garden plans all laid out. Looking forward to seeing the update on all the projects next week as there is alot going on! I'm loving the Christmas diaries but I would love a regular chateau diaries occasionally.
All looks amazing! I’m loving the Christmas videos even if I’m a natural grinch . My only change would to be maybe once a week a bit more of traditional chateau diaries (not a criticism I just find it more interesting!)

So…how’s that downstairs loo coming? Selmar is gone so who is installing the toilet? Why are we seeing Davy’s plans again? This was already shown a couple of months ago. Also, Amaury still had his mustache which was shaved off at the end of November. How long ago was that filmed? Why can’t we get an update on the paneling that he is currently working on? Are there no regular Chateau Diaries during Advent? I’m getting really concerned that your patrons aren’t getting any answers to any of their repeated questions. This definitely didn’t seem like an update to me. Just another long video looking at Davy’s plans. Again.

#1 I thought they were waiting on coving before they could finish the bathroom, otherwise Selmar would have done it.
#2 I didn’t think Davy’s plans that were seen a while ago were anywhere near as detailed and easy to follow as those today, at least not to me. Did they say that these plans are the ones to be presented for approval to the French governing body?
#3 As for Amaury’s beard, either he’s bristling with hair follicles and testosterone, which he may well be, or that part was shot last week. Wasn’t Stephanie waiting on an update (Davy’s?) before releasing her 1st of the month video? I can’t remember what the missing piece was about.
#4 We got 3 videos today, that’s a lot. Cadeaux was edited, not live streamed. The Advent is filmed and edited daily, and it looks time intensive. She’s also signing the patron cards.

Which is all to say that I don’t expect a Chateau Diaries during Advent. I don’t want to see her wind up in the Hospital during the Advent series. Again.

Woah…everyone chill! I have questions- no harm in asking questions! Someone has asked about the downstairs loo on almost every post. I’m genuinely curious now that Selmar is not there. I’m pretty sure a toilet and sink can easily be installed without the coving being done first. I expected to hear from Amaury about how the paneling was going in the grand salon (even if we don’t get to see it yet, as it seems like it might be a big reveal once it is all done). I was seriously confused about the new paneling he was showing us. Merry Grinchmas, Patrons!

Stephanie started filming the advent a while back. And Phillip edits Cadeaux. People get all defensive when people ask questions and painting Rosalind as being a grinch I too enjoy regular vlogs in the middle of Advent. If I had to choose I would choose the daily vlog. I'm not huge on xmas myself. yes, I am Christian. But I started watching Chateau diaries because of the Chateau and everyday life. I miss the vlogs

The downstairs loo is waiting for the coving (though Amaury and Dan are chomping at the bit to install everything!) because I feel it’s more sensible to do it in that order. The architect contacted a plasterer for me this week, and I’m hoping to hear back from him soon
I showed Davy’s plans again because I found it so much easier to envision the whole garden by seeing it on paper, and I thought that many of you would feel the same way. But I added it to the video rather than making it a stand alone video as we have seen the plans before (though there are new changes on them now).
Amaury was filmed last week just before the blessed removal of his mustache He’s on holiday this week (which is why he hasn’t been in many advent videos yet). But the arrival of new panelling is an important update for patrons, and I’m very excited to show you all!
The Chateau Diaries are continuing throughout advent, once a week on a Thursday (last week was on Tuesday), and in tonight’s episode you will see an update on the work in the grand salon.

So…if you wonder how come she loses subscribers each month it is because she kicks them off of Patreon herself for asking questions. I found that my account has been removed for bullying and harassment and yet, she still took my $5 for December and ALSO replied to my questions? You can see my obvious “bullying and harassment” above in the questions that she replied to. She replied to me and then banned my account. Yes, I’m the grinch. If anyone can please explain to me how I said anything that constitutes bullying or harassment, I would appreciate it!
Now I have to decide if putting a stop payment on my $5 donation for the month of December is even worth my hassle. I didn’t break the rules…so I should be refunded 3/4 of my $5 payment. I just don’t know if it’s worth my time!

I might start a new tradition when I decorate my tree, Pink champagne. I usually have a mince pie and a coffee.


She said on Instagram that she had lived in England 9 years and had residency. I think her English is pretty good, there are just a few words she struggles to pronounce mostly ending in "th". She probably uses the nearest English word to describe something she doesn't know the word for. This is not unusual.
The English "th" is difficult for non native speakers to get right. I admire anyone who had the courage to move abroad and speak another language, we all have to learn. My school French gets me by when I travel in France and I'm glad nobody mocks me for it as my pronunciation must be awful

Some English born and bred folk cannot pronounce th... there are many that replace it with an F. One of the chasers in the TV program The Chase says Fink instead of think.

Actually, at the beginning of the Patreon video she says that the chapel restorer hasn't begun to work yet because his trailer was broken or some such so he still wants to do it but can't start yet!...Whatever...

I watched, or rather listened to the gift grab and I've decided to punish myself by watching it again...let me finish!!!...and count every time they say the word "beautiful", then take a shot of something alcoholic with each time....I'll be passed out within the first 10 minutes.....

Sincerely doubt that that particular chapel restorer will ever get the job done. Time to look for another restorer. Excuses, excuses, excuses!

He is the old restorer I think. He was never going to be free. He is about to retire and it will be his last chapel (if he ever starts/finishes)

Ain't gonna happen!!
