I thought as much. No wonder SJ wanted to surround herself with people who take the pressure off of her and take it on themselves. We can diagnose narcissism all day long, but Isabelle is the stuff reddit threads about narc parents are based on. I thought it was interesting that one giant was the caretaker of the greenhouse and that ended up being the first thing restored for channel 4. Did Isabelle really involve herself in the garden then or is it all for show and free seeds? Also casts a whole new light on Isabelle simpering, "you ask too much of people," when it's her doing it. Some projection there. She ran the whole show, literally, when there I've seen my friend drop everything he was doing, just to help Isabelle with something when she asked, and she asked a lot. After asking him why, he responded it was easier to instantly give in to her whims, because the other option was to be subjected to her complaints all day.
Clara, this goes some way to explaining what has puzzled me since I starting watching the vlogs. I couldn’t understand how she (in one blog) stated she lived there alone for quite a while and yet the rooms were decorated, furnished, cleaned etc., and the B&B started. What was my puzzlement? It was because, apart from her few bits of machine sewing and the ‘painting’ gold edges on a door in her room (whist in pjs) I never actually seen her do anything constructive wise. She may start something - like painting mummy’s apartment - but then someone else finishes it off - Gerry!None of that, they are very loyal to each other. They cared excessively about the place and put their heart and soul into it, feeling grateful they were allowed to live there. SJ's lack of responsibility for the place made it tougher for them, because they would take over and feel responsible, which they clearly weren't. It was all based on friendship , but when the friendship proved to be one sided, that shifted the balance. Why would anyone work 18 hours a day for someone who isn't even a friend. As for financial contributions: yes, they paid for stuff, but only because they loved the place. In the second year of their stay they asked for a part of the B&B profits and SJ agreed, so it wasn't about money in any way. Her manipulation, by constantly playing the clumsy damsel in distress, charmingly forcing others to step in and do the real work for her, has been subject of many of our conversations then.
I think the kitchen is great! Was watching Michael's vlog where the Christmas spode plate broke and I was laughing to myself thinking brenda and the really crazy ones will be going frantic looking for one for him. He even went to mention for subscribers to send him a link. I think he knows and everyone knows that someone like brenda will search heaven and earth to get him one. Imagine how beloved brenda thinks she would be if she sent him the plate.
She is 100% searching around for one.
I've seen her on many other vlogs mentioned cause of gifts to Michael. So definitely hunting for the plate.
The vlog where Michael is fitting in the sink and Ryan is there. Michael starts saying how everyone has a vlog now even the dogs will have a vlog soon. Its true.
Apart from the mains ones Michael and Billy and gwen and Ryan. All the extra people all the family are making vlogs just to latch onto Michael's success.
I do like how his cottage looks with the aga looks lovely and cosy.
I agree with you on both counts. AuthenticMaybe, but the writing style is very different... if you are right, it would represent a fear of retaliation, which also does not reflect very well on CDLL.
When we talk about Dangerous Liaisons style moral transgressions I think of Stephanie tricking people into having sex or something like that.None of that, they are very loyal to each other. They cared excessively about the place and put their heart and soul into it, feeling grateful they were allowed to live there. I'm going to go track that down right now. She's a sweetheart. I think he recognizes it, but he could be nicer on camera. He manages to whip up a sense of humor for the chateau, and Annalise is wrangling their whole show with two toddlers to film him doing the "important" stuff we'd never see if she wasn't filming.Did anyway see the link Escape to Rural France posted when Annalise was an actress? I haven't watched it yet but plan to. I like Annalise a lot despite her overuse of the word literally and I wish Dan would be nicer to her when she's filming - it's painful to watch at times when she's trying so hard to engage with him and he is a bit grumpy. I still maintain he's the hardest worker of all the chateau people and spin off vloggers - apart from maybe Fiona with the leather trousers whose DIY ability and work ethic are incredible.
I have an ad blocker, so if I'm inadvertently contributing to any of these channels, at least it's ad free.As for the other person who called people ‘luddites’ watching for ‘free’ well these luddites do pay via YT. But I’ve now decided that I will unsubscribe (if I watch anything else) so as not to add to the ever increasing mountain of cheese, gin and wine at CDLL.
Tell me more. Tell me moreThat would be the Norwegian guy Ludwig, another workawayer that "stuck around" longer than expected. Lots of weird stories there too.
SJ always said she likes to wear her winter whites. This is valid also for lingeriebut seriously how pathological is that, regardless of you being a host or owning the house where the party is at
Nordic Weirdo SJ clearly likes to go ‘off piste’ now and again with her choice of men. Mason being the No. 1 exampleNope, Ludwig. He was nicknamed Nordic Weirdo, my friends told me, much to SJ's chagrin.
Superb analogy of the painting and the curatorEverything that Clara has shared has pretty much fit in my opinion. It’s like standing in front of a painting (or IG post) and thinking something is just a little off and then the curator swings by to point out a nuance and it all comes together. The clues have always been there.
She surely encourages it with others for the sake of dramatic things to gossip about afterwards. When we talk about Dangerous Liaisons style moral transgressions I think of Stephanie tricking people into having sex or something like that.
Thank you for that reminder. Indeed he is but truth be known, he’s merely a bit of an Odd Job Man. Irregardless of his self-employment status, she should be aware of his skills - or lack of.Just saying
Selmar is self employed - he invoices LOTL for any or all works done
It’s selmar who needs to make sure he has insurance - as he’s self employed
@Clara Burnett I'm not too well versed in the way Tattle works but wouldn't it say "new member" next to your name if that were the case? I don't wish to sound suspicious as I have found your revelations and insider knowledge fascinating, but I always like to get the full picture.
My mother in law always asks what I want for Xmas or bday and then goes and gets me something slightly different. In this case she would give me an Easter plate for example and say: oh xmas or easter who cares, don't be ungrateful. I imagine hundreds of cheap ikea Xmas plates arriving with comments like: I couldn't get the real thing but this one is lovely, too.~~~~~He gets a few offers to repair the plate on YouTube.~~~~~
Actually, one of his commenters said he had the exact plate and was sending it to Michael...
If looks could kill, diesel would be dead after the glare that Isabelle gave him in the grand salon. I saw it too and it sent shivers to my soulyeah. That describes a few bosses I've had, and I have worked for several local companies run by kids who financed the whole venture with their parent's money. People who own something precious aren't great at dealing with people who take emotional ownership of what they perceive to be their genius and their struggle, especially when they know they are letting it all go to tit. How territorial was Isabelle during all of that?
I have a wonderful friend who could not care less about my menagerie. She pets my dog (formerly dogs plural) with her index finger and immediately washes her hands. She's never had a pet, but she is great with kids. Oldest of four and not allowed pets growing up. It's a spectrum. I don't see SJ not being kind to animals, but I do see her mother not loving that Diesel is eating a treat on the carpet indoors.
I said a while ago...imagine Stephanie was a 45 year old good looking man who flirted with and slept with female Workaways in their early 20s. And maybe had dressup days and commented on how the Workaways looked, cooked, etc. And then filmed it all. And made money from it.I wonder if SJ got dropped by Workaway, because of her having at least one affair with a volunteer, and that is also the basis of the Dutchmen's moral questioning?
