@billybudd, while I am not at all a socialist nor communist nor Marxist, I do find his life and works interesting, and he did have some valid points. I'm a conservative, but believe more in common sense and people's rights vice whatever either political party's agenda is this week (they are either too far right or left these days.) I do think religion can actually be good, as it gives people hope, and should never be used as a justification for war (because if people are truly religious, they would respect each other's ideologies, beliefs, and be good citizens.) Thank you to the link to Harvey's lectures! I will look into them, as I always enjoy hearing other people's ideas!@T Rex, thank you for the Marx residence tip.
I have the feeling we haven't absorbed his message -- in my not-very-well-informed opinion, he's very difficult -- which is mighty secular humanism. How and why to be good to one another without a Mean Daddy God pushing you around. And the capitalism critique is mighty, as is the dialectical materialism, whatever that might be. (David Harvey has taught a graduate seminar in Kapital for 40+ years, and says he learns something new every year, and yet is still not a Marxist. In honorable sec hum tradition, all Harvey's lectures are free online.)The Chateau Diaries #313 Let them eat porcelain! They have to since the food portions are so miserly!
Unpopular opinion...I would have left Annaliese too. Cat and Dan make a far better couple. When have we ever seen Annaliese do anything apart from doing bad hair? She tries to lock him down with the children ( I know it takes two but if a woman wants to get pregnant she will manage it somehow )...tattle.life
In other news, dear one, I made your blueberry cole slaw the other night, with this buttermilk dressing, minus nearly all the sugar, some celery seed and lobster surimi. Absolutely scrumptious, thank you.
I am glad you liked the blueberry coleslaw! Here is the recipe I use, though: https://food52.com/recipes/18242-blueberry-coleslaw It has no sugar, but did add an extra tsp of honey and reduced the mayo (Duke's) to 1/2 C. No blueberries were cut in half!
