I believe they normally live at Percy's home (I guess their home now) in Pretoria (9 hours away from the beach house, I learned this courtesy of @Clara Burnett a thread or so ago). If you watch the vlog of when she went to SA 2 years ago, right before COVID you will see her tour of the beach house and the art Derek did specifically for the beach house. It's a very modern place. They bought an old run down house and did extensive renovation and addition to it. The vlog is also in wiki, in the section on the Jarvis properties.OH!!!!! That explains things!!! I did several similar classes quite some years ago, working through introductory, basic, intermediate, advanced levels and then short courses for weddings, Christmas, pressed flowers, etc They were very affordable. Our tutor (who as well as being a professional and skilled florist, held an adult education teaching certificate) systematically taught flower conditioning, wiring of flowers and foliage, preparation of containers, dimensions, heights and so on, use of accessories, designing and arranging fresh and silk flowers and working through one specific project each week. We too brought our own materials with us, although we could purchase some floral supplies from the tutor, like Oasis, floral tape, frogs, etc. and she would usually provide additional greenery for anyone who needed extra.Years ago I attended a floral arranging class offered at the local community centre and taught by a professional florist. Two hours every Tuesday evening for 10 weeks. A specific project each week with sufficient time for hands-on practice. This allowed time for you to also practice at home during the week f you wished. Students also had to bring some of your own supplies to class each week.
A much more logical and affordable way to offer a floral workshop. Marie should take note!
