Does anyone know of any cases where the parents actually won?

e.g made it all the way to surpreme/human rights and then won?

I can't think of any. The closest is Glass v UK where the mother's instinct was actually right and her son didn't die, she had a physical fight with the medical team as well, but the legal point was different because the hospital didn't seek a court order to withdraw treatment and basically just did it without telling her (which is not right, and shouldn't have happened). I won't link the judgment because it was an ECHR one which is dire to trawl through but this is a lay summary:

Why on Earth are people sending Archie gifts to the hospital? It’s not like the staff don’t have anything better to do Of course.

Im not being funny, but I would think this was very creepy if I saw this!

WIth the back and forth it seems like the judges are basically agreeing all the time with the hospital barristers, and continually questioning / checking the Battersbee barrister. The writing is on the wall.

I know what you mean, I’ve seen it in other court cases too so don’t think it’s specific to this one. Maybe because they are essentially ’arguing’ against each other. I think judges also lose a bit of patience if they are not making valid points or make bizarre ones, like the family’s barrister saying the judges use of the word burdensome was wrong because Archie isn’t aware/can’t feel pain.

Burdensome to the people administering it surely? It can't be easy for those poor doctors and nurses, the abuse they are getting, not being listened to, all the while having to care for a poor boy who is literally wasting away. It's so sad for those people too.

To my ears the family's barrister sounds like he has given up / running on fumes now. He knows he's talking balls. The judges know. He knows the judges know. Hence the "unfortunately if the judges, with a heavy heart etc..."

Yes one of the judges also said about burdonsome to nursing staff too. The female judge seemed astounded he would even argue the point on burdonsome.

These judges are definitely challenging the family’s barrister a lot. I don’t get the impression they have heard any valid arguments that there was anything wrong with the Hayden’s judgement.

I think this barrister is struggling to be honest.

I admit I struggled to follow a lot of it but I will be really surprised if they win the permission to appeal. However even if they don’t, poor Archie will still have to suffer whilst they then go to Supreme Court and maybe ECHR too.

Be nice to think the SC and ECHR could just send an email "nah, we watched the YouTube video. Not happening. No need to pack the monkey for a trip to Strasbourg."
