Selling my car and can't find the service history for the life of me 🤦‍♀️ It's a '14 plate, I had it serviced regularly, I can find one invoice showing the service but the book is nowhere to be found. Have a sneaky suspicion my 4 year old nephew binned it when he was rifling through the glove box recently.

Am I totally screwed without this? I had it serviced at an independant garage (who have been hopeless, tried to call them, say they have no records.)

My new car is coming Tuesday and I'm worried I won't be able to sell this one and I'll be stuck!

You can sell it no bother without the SH.

I have a close relative who works with cars day to day. It's not essential but a car with a full service history is considered to be more valuable than one without. It's no biggie though!

Thank you so much - you’ve put my mind at total ease! Accepted I won’t get as much for it, I was panicking it’s not even legal to sell without.

Great help - thanks again!

Tablet help

I charge my grandchildren's tablets (amazon) when they go home and turn them fully off, but for some reason, they switch on and the batteries run down by the next visit.

I have all notifications etc off Any ideas on how to stop this? I know I could just leave charging to the day before they are coming but then I'm liable to forget

Make sure and shut them down after you put the charger in .

Maybe the batteries are done if they’re not holding the charge? My son’s lasts for age’s .
They are new. 😲
They do last ages when they are fully charged when the kids use them.. it's just when they are not being used they turn themselves on and the batteries run down within the week. so when the kids get here a week later and go to use them they are very low battery

I just wondered if there is a way to stop them from turning themselves on. I can understand if they were just on standby.

Don’t understand why they’re turning themselves on if they’re shut down? I know once I plug the charger into my sons it springs to life even if fully shut down but once I shut it down again it stays that way until it’s powered on again, maybe check the settings and see if there’s something there that making it turn on again.

I have found an article that has lots of tips to stop the battery from running low while not in use and apparently it's Alexia that turns it on.

One is a Samsung and no problems with that one

Thanks, Monga hopefully by their next stay I will have sorted it.

You can disable her in the settings

Glad I found this thread.

I have a query that I can’t seem to get definitive answer on google.

I am up for car insurance renewal next month, the renewal paperwork has come through and i noticed that i haven’t updated the occupation for the past 3 years, I’ve just simply rolled over. The profession type is still the same. Basically what’s on the policy is (I’ll use example rather than my actual so I don’t triangulate myself): e.g. ‘Administrator’, and then my actual job now is like ‘Administrative Officer’ at a new place. It’s the same type of job just a different title. I am not claiming, I just need to renew. Will I likely get penalised for updating it 3 years late? I’ve never made a claim and don’t need to, currently.

I know I can ring them and ask but I get nervous ringing up these places and it feels like they always try to find a reason to increase the fee/punish you, so I want to know what I can expect, first.

Basically what I’m asking is, has anyone else accidentally forgotten to update a very slight change to occupation, and were you penalised? In the context of having never made a claim/not requiring to claim.

Of course if I changed address, car, etc I would inform them but the occupation line is on about page 4 so easily missed as the title is so similar and they’ve always automatically rolled the policy over.

Some people get white lab coat syndrome with doctors, for me, it’s ringing up insurance companies

I had to update mine recently and was having an issue because my job didn't fall into any of the specific categories they had on the drop down menu. The person I spoke to said incorrect or outdated information can be used to refuse a pay out. In my case they said they'd just put it down as the closest option to it and make a note on the file. Basically to show I'd done everything possible my end to provide them with correct info.

My advice is that it won't matter that you haven't updated it previously, that time has passed now so don't worry about it (just don't tell them that bit). However, now you've realised then you must update it ASAP. You might be able to do this by setting up an online account so you won't have to speak to anyone. A job change shouldn't increase the premium and I doubt they will ask for the date you started the job.

Please don’t worry, insurance companies get this all the time! You can update it from your renewal date and it will be no problem, just say something like … oh I’ve just noticed this on my renewal paper work, is it possible to update my occupation so it’s more accurate. They won’t pass any remarks!!!

Thank you both. I’ve just mustered some willpower and have just sorted it via webassistant (as calling up is a hassle for me) and they didn’t ask for any dates. I also seem to have had 10 quid knocked off the renewal price too. I don’t know why these things always cause anxiety. I do read things but must admit, the job title escaped my notice. Phew, one thing off my list of things that are on my mind.

Glad you got sorted 🥰 I am the same with certain things too so you’re not alone lol the web assistants are so handy and give you more time to think before answering lol

Crows !! Of late 4 or 5 crows have taken to dancing up and down on my car, not only this they are taking the small smooth pebbles from the church path and flinging them around.
I couldn't figure out why the car had small stones on the roof but witnessed them yesterday, picking up and flinging the stones. I can only assume they think the stones are nuts and are trying to crack them ?!
