Lots of people who applied wouldn’t have got an interview. That’s just the way it goes.
Yes but this one had a guaranteed interview option that I clicked on, it plainly stated that if I fell under the mental health/disabilities then I'd be guaranteed a interview as they don't discriminate

Did you declare the MH/disability? As far as I understand all that means is they can’t not interview you because you have a MH Condition/Disability if you fit the job description in every other way. Not that they have to interview you no matter what (for instance, if you applied for a qualified position but didn’t have the qualification).
It didn't ask me to state what it was, just if I had one, they had a statement up saying they don't discriminate an if I had one then a interview would be guaranteed

So I applied for a job that had a guaranteed interview for mental health/disabilities under the no discrimination act

Obviously I didn't get a interview

Can they do this? Basically I was told that I wasn't right for it, even though I matched what they were looking for
Even if you match what they're looking for there maybe ten other people who applied that have a better match and they will shortlist potential candidates based on that.

The guarantee of an interview thing sounds like box ticking. Maybe they made an error in not calling you forward so contact them and ask them why.

How old are you??

your Dad is the person at fault here. He had deliberately defaulted on the rent and council tax. Is the lease for the property in your name or is it in your fathers/ mothers name?
im 20. lease is in parents name

It doesn’t mean that if you have a MH condition or disability that you get carte Blanche and go straight to the interview stage though.

Your parents will be liable for the debt. Doesn’t matter what your Dad says or what blame he tries to put on you. The court will come for him and your mum. It’s them that are in debt, not you. Your Dad is being completely unfair and utterly irresponsible here.

Well really they shouldn't do that then, it was they that stated they would 🤷‍♀️

If a job states there will be a GUARANTEED interview then sorry but am going expect one, it's not as if am in a city where there's 2000 people applying, am in a small run down town that I doupt they would have had over 30 apply

If there was someone else who met the criteria better than or seemed a better match than you, then it would have been a waste of both their time, and yours for them to interview you. Doesn't matter if there was 2,000 or 30 applications, they're looking for the best match.

not to give too much info but basically my parents are in debt, but are not dealing with it and have left it to me. my mum doesnt speak english and my dad doesnt handle the stuff. he for some reason does not pay the rent or tax etc as his friends do not pay it and have advised him to pay as well. he is rarley home but all the letters of home possessions and tax libality and courts come to me. most of the rent is payed by benefit due to low income but due to me not going into higher education benefits stopped paying for my share of rent and tax. due to covid being in peak and my social anxiety at it worst i wasnt able to find or look for a job. enforcement agents even had to come to get tax payments and extra pirce was added due to agent coming, my dad payed for it but blamed me for it. now the place that is supposed to be home is at stakes due to court hearing of repossesion, my mum blames me for not finding a job and paying it off and my dad is dismissing it. part of the rent is mine and partly is my dads as he earns a little bit more than recomended living wage so has to pay % of extra wage towards rent. but he is refusing to understand that and is saying all the rent is mine but i dont have anyhting to pay for it. i dont know what to do and incomes team arent really helping, how do i explain my situaton?
I am in need of serous help, enforcement agents came today, im scared what to do.
I take it you are an adult, personally I would move out. Do you have a friend or family to go to?

The tenancy is in your parents name, unless the added you to it once you were 18. If they refuse to take on their own responsibilities despite having numerous warnings there is little you can do. He is working, therefor he must understand enough to see that he is in trouble.

The other option is let them take it and you will be then classed as homeless and in theory be placed in temporary accommodation from the council.

Well really they shouldn't do that then, it was they that stated they would 🤷‍♀️

I think the phrasing is, you are guaranteed an interview IF you meet what they are looking for any any MH or disability won't hinder you. Say you were applying for a PA job and you couldn't use a computer, there is no point interviewing you as you cannot do the role.

Like I said it’s there so they can’t shortlist everyone, then kick off anyone who needs reasonable adjustments at interview stage. So if you fit the criteria you’re guaranteed an interview - but if you don’t fit the criteria you don’t get an interview. It’s so that if you have every Tuesday in therapy or you can’t walk up stairs they change the date or location etc.

No the job was literally worded as

If you have MH/disabilities we do not descrimate an you will be *guaranteed* a interview, if you would like to be offered this option then please click yes

Like I say, it was them that said this, if a company cannot be bothered to honour their word then IMO they shouldn't be offering it in the first place, regardless of how many apply or if there was better out there they still broke that

and if you got an interview and weren't successful would you still be this vexed about it? I understand it's frustrating but you can either contact them and ask them why you didn't get an interview or you could just move on and keep applying until the right job comes along!

The Guaranteed Interview Scheme was replaced by the Disability Confident Scheme, if they mentioned they were part of this then I believe there are certain legal obligations. However if they haven’t declared they are part of this then I don’t think much can be done.

Obviously not, it's because they stated this an didn't keep their word, makes me think they just want to weed out anyone that has it since it's know in this town that MH and disabilities are discriminated against, there's even company's I know won't hire woman, calling them useless but nothing gets done

As you can see, it's all about making adjustments for people who are suited to the job. Unless you can hand on heart go through the job description and show exactly why you are the perfect person for that job (and have written it in your application) they haven't done anything wrong.

Again there are some exceptions, if you read about it;

Employers who have signed up to ‘Disability Confident’ commit to offer disabled people an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for the job vacancy, subject to some exceptions. The scheme is not legally binding.

It is important to note that there may be occasions where it is not practicable or appropriate to interview all disabled people that meet the minimum criteria for the job. For example, in certain recruitment situations such as high number of applications, seasonal and high-peak times, the employer may wish to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.

In these circumstances the employer could select the disabled candidates who best meet the minimum criteria for the job rather than all of those that meet the minimum criteria, as they would do for non-disabled applicants.

You have to remember, you are likely to not be the only person with a disabled person who applied so perhaps there was someone more suited. I know its a kick in the teeth but it is the job world. You are not going to get every interview or job you go for. It is a waste of everyone's time just to interview you for the sake of it.

Thanks, they didn't tell me why I wasn't right for it despite me not only matching what the were looking for but having advanced highers an experience in that job

Do you prefer your cat to be kept to the garden? An is your garden fenced?

I don't have cats, but I do have guinea pigs an a new rabbit, I also have a ton of wild birds come into the garden so to keep them all safe I have those spikes for the top of the fence, you can get like rubber ones, then along the bottom it's all mesh fence since there's a gap between my fence an the ground, keeps my neighbours cat from getting into the garden

Also you might not know this, but if your cat ever needs veterinary treatment an it's because the neighbours cat has come in, then you are entitled to have the neighbour pay because technically it was trespassing on your property, I know of people who's cats an dogs have went onto another's property an hurt their animal be told they need to pay the vet bill that their animal has caused
My cat likes sun bathing and sitting in the flower pots so i’d want her to continue that. We still get wood pigeons and other wild birds that come daily but she doesn’t bother the pigeons. Super rarely foxes.

There’s no fencing on either sides. Just walls which are theirs. The spikes however would have been a good idea otherwise. We’re also just keeping a much closer eye on her. We let her out for a bit whilst someone was downstairs then brought her back in.

Random question but my hubby and I are flying on Sunday and we've both got the new blue passports. Anyway my husband went to sign his and he's managed to put a big black smudge on it where he's signed. Does anyone reckon that could be a problem? Slightly freaking out 😵

I’m sure it will be fine

So I’ve looked for a work relayed thread and can’t find one and I can’t create one. But I need some advice on the following issue!

I’ve worked for a marketing for several years and the current account manager has been there for just under a year.

She was reported for bullying by another colleague because she refused to give her any work and any work she did do she criticised and refused to use it and both her and our comms manager started to isolate her and make no effort to speak to her.

I sit next to the current account manager and saw a message she had sent to our studio manager saying ‘we are both s**t and know f**k all about what we do and that we are scared to answer the phones which isn’t true since she asks me to show her how to transfer calls several times. She also spends her times applying for jobs and shopping whilst moaning about everyone else. The environment has become highly toxic and b***chy the point I’m ready to leave.

I don’t know whether to bite the bullet and report her for what she’s been saying and what she does only a daily basis which isn’t work but then at the same time I don’t want to look like a tell tale to the other colleagues but it would be her second complaint within a few months.
