Has anyone ever used some sauce out a jar an then kept the rest for another time? Is it fine to do or would it go off

Folks are away for the week so I'll just be cooking for myself rather than all of us, I really like having lasagna an pasta bolognaise etc but usually I'd use the full jar for them, would I be fine to only use some of it an then keep the rest for another night, it would only be maybe 2 or 3 nights later so not for very long

I do that, it keeps for a while once opened. Also freezes well.

It should be fine but check the package for storage once opened. I’m pretty sure you can just put in back in the cupboard but some might need to go in the fridge.

Thanks, I'll definitely read an see what it says, I wish they did little jars that would be fine for one meal tbh, I don't eat processed meals an trying to think of what I can make for myself that won't result in waste is quite hard

If it's a ready-made sauce where you would normally use the whole jar then would have to go in the fridge.

You could make extra of the meal at the time and reheat it 2 days later.
Otherwise check the jar, usually keep refrigerated and use within 3 days.
But I hate to say it, a jar of bolognaise is processed food. There’s no difference in a jar of dolmio added to pasta to a good quality ready meal

I checked an it says to keep them refrigerated an use within 3 days so it's fine, am going make 3 different meals using them like a lasanga, spaghetti bolognaise an pasta bake an then there's no waste, am not really a huge fan of eating the exact same thing every few days, I prefer having a good week or two between eating the same thing

I know the jars are processed, it's the actual ready meals I can't eat, not sure what they use in them but they make me feel a bit sick, I think it might be the meat an whatever they use to prolong the life of it, the sauce jars though I can handle

I need advice on how to deter a cat from using my front garden as a litter tray.

I have a flower bed and gravel driveway.

A cat was using the flower bed as a litter tray so I was clearing it up and tried every trick in the book but nothing worked. Eventually bought some cat scatter spray and followed the instructions and it seemed to stop, until we went away for a week and couldn't keep up the spraying.

We came back to the flower bed literally covered in cat shit.

Cleared it up and started the process with cat scatter again but now it is shitting on the gravel too!!

I am at the end of my tether with it.

I would get one of them things that makes noise but the reviews are all bad. I can't see the cat from my office so I also can't spray it with water or whatever to scare it off.

But I am fed up of the front of my house being covered in shit, any advice appreciated. Thank you.

They hate strong smells like citrus and mint. So orange or lemon peel, mint tea bags, olbas or orange oil. Or by changing the texture, put bark or wood chip. My own cat uses ours on one spot by a light, I’ve filled it with busy plants and she’s moved somewhere else which is more suitable as she’s my cat I want her doing it in our garden not others.

If you see the cats, then use a hosepipe on them every time you see them even look at your garden. If not, get a motion sensor garden spray that will spray them every time they come into your garden. I have cats and I'm fully on board with anyone doing this to them if they go into their garden.

Or you can push plastic forks into the ground so the tines sick up, making it so they can't walk on that part of the garden anymore.

Unfortunately it's the front garden and isn't easy to get anything in it as it is a narrow raised bed sitting on stones.

There isn't a lot of space between the flowers and around the bed is solid.

They keep pooing on the sleeper or the gravel

I would go with the smelly stuff that Joe suggested then. Maybe sprinkle chilli powder as well.

It's a pain and as a cat owner, I am very sorry.

I just need to get something off my chest today.
My sister had a scan and found out her baby may have a genetic disorder. She’s currently in limbo waiting to find out more information and weighing up whether termination may be the kindest thing. I’ve never felt so useless in my entire life and my heart is breaking for her. I’m trying to be as supportive as I can to her but I can’t possibly understand what she’s going through, I struggle to find words to say to her. This waiting is killing her piece by piece and it’s so hard to watch. How do I keep her going? What kind of things are helpful?

Don't worry. I think my reply was a bit blunt actually when it wasn't meant to be rude either, I was just trying to be helpful .

What a horrible situation. I think just being there for her is probably enough. You don't need to say anything except acknowledgement of how shit it is.

The only other thing I can suggest is more a what not to do. A few years ago one of my children had tests for suspected Lymphoma. The wait for the results was torture. I spent a lot of time on the internet researching. Journals, studies, scientific papers, anything I could set my eyes on. Somebody told me I should stop reading things. Reading things was the only control I had and their comment infuriated me. So I suppose my advice would be let her do what she needs to do, whatever that is. Just be close and ready to listen.

What would be the best thing to do/say in this situation? Sorry if it is long and confusing.

I hated my job, applied for 2, got 2 interviews, got offered both. Happy days. (This was about a month ago)

The one I preferred required 3 references, all with 13 questions each. This took a while to sort out. I'd only had a conditional offer, and I was told after the referencing was all done I'd get a start date. In the meantime I didn't want to reject the other job, because if anything happened I'd be back to square 1.

The other job were aware my manager was on annual leave, but they kept sending emails pushing me to accept the job offer online. She said on Friday if I don't accept by midday they're giving the job to someone else regardless. I panicked and accepted as I was waiting on a message from the job I want.

Today I have had a start date confirmed for my new job at the company I want to work for, I've handed in my notice at the current job and now I just need to tell the other one I won't be starting with them..

Does this sound okay? I wish I didn't have to accept it but it was push push push.

I personally wouldn't use this phrasing, as it reads as though something bad has happened, which it hasn't, you just preferred the other company. I would be honest and say that you received another offer, which you've accepted, thanks for the opportunity... - I wouldn't say, "so sorry to mess you around" either, even if you feel that way, it's better to keep a professional and less personal front!
