I'm really struggling with my hormones and looking for advice on managing my emotions on the week leading up to when my period starts.

I feel like I spend 3 weeks of the month fine and then for a whole week I am fragile like a bomb and have complete meltdowns. I have gone to zero hours contract so that I can avoid working that week. When I used to work that week I would storm out of meetings, go to the toilet and cry, there is more but it's just so embarrassing!

Once I'm out of that week I always think that I wish I'd have just controlled myself! I've been to the drs before, read up on pmdd etc.

If anyone has any tips on dealing with emotions that week I would be really grateful I'm up for trying anything! I'm 42 and the dr said I'm too old for the pill (not that it ever made a difference in the past anyway).
Antihistamines the week before have been shown to help a bit. You could also ask for hrt patches. I was taking some April supplement called All The Feels, a while back, you might want to give that a go.

That's not strictly true, it depends on your other risk factors. BMI, smoker etc. did they say?
There are other avenues too, HRT or suppressants.
Have you looked at PMDD? It sounds more like that.

One of my friends had a coil fitted and says it was an absolute life saver. Took her right through menopause as an HRT replacement as well

Agree, it's approved up to 50 years old for contraception, if other factors permit. Back when we were teens , it was til about 35. There's also the mini pill which is sometimes suitable for those who can't take the combined

Another day, another delivery drama.

I was expecting a package today. At 6am, I received an email stating the package will be delivered today.

I checked the tracking at 8am and it said they attempted delivery at 6.10am this morning but it failed, so I have to go pick up the item myself at their delivery unit.

What? What kind of service delivers at 6am? What kind of nonsense is this? Surely this is a fake update because they can’t be bothered to deliver to this area.

I’ve never heard of any national post service delivering packages to private persons at 6am!

The dr said it was my weight. I'm 5 ft 2 and 9 stone 13 so only a couple of lbs overweight. To be honest the pill never worked for it anyway, I do think it is PMDD - thank you for the link.

The kind that takes the mick. I’ve had this happen to me. They swore blind they had attempted delivery minutes after it reached a depot - about an hours drive from me; where they told me to go. So I told them where to go - google maps, and explain to me how their driver managed an hours journey (it always takes longer due to issues with address system they use) in minutes and in the end they agreed it hadn’t been done. The driver, when they turned up had a right go at me. I’m disabled had zero chance of collecting it and, they had lied.
But no. I was in the wrong 🙄

I’ve had deliveries at really stupid times, really early and really late. But I’d say yours wasn’t genuine update.

Thanks!

Yeah, I rang their CS and they confirmed this update is not accurate.

Has anyone used period delaying medication before? If yes how did you find the experience and can you explain a bit how it works? Thanks 😊

I have used ultovan tablets before but they had to be prescribed. They worked fine I did however have cramps (which I don't usually suffer from). I suppose because the period was trying to start but couldn't. The tablets essentially stop your womb shedding.

I’ve used Provera a good few times. Starting 72 hours before your period due date, you take 3 tablets throughout the day. You continue to take 3 tablets a day while you want to stay off your period, and you can delay it for up to 17 days. Once you stop taking the tablets, you get your period in 3-7 days (my first few times I got it on the 3rd day, but the last few times I’ve noticed it comes 7 days later).

I’ve found it brilliant overall but I have noticed sometimes that the period that follows after the tablets is heavier than usual.

I can't remember what I was given but a few years ago I requested it as I was going on holiday. I was told to start taking the tablets a week before my period and continue until my holiday was finished. I had no side effects and my period restarted a few days after I stopped taking the tablets.

Thanks so much for the insight 😊 I shall see what the doctor can do for me. Typical I book a holiday around my period time, I didn't even consider it at the time 🫠 hopefully I can take something like that being in my 40s

Following up on this - I was told I won’t be delivered because they have no staff on this route & I will need to collect the package myself.

Unreal. How are these clowns accepting packages going to this route if they don’t have any staff to deliver! I paid a delivery fee to collect the package myself. I’m essentially doing their job for them while they’re getting paid!

Sorry for laughing, but that is absolutely ridiculous! They must have malfunctioned or it's a glitch on the system 😳

Makes me think of the jokes when they changed their name: Evri, because there's every chance you're not getting your parcel!

That’s as bad a parcelforce. I was given wrong information by post office and forced to use parcelforce24. It was for a Christmas box, so presents, some nice food for a terminal relative. I’m not totally stupid and posted it start of December. They sent it to Bristol via Glasgow for a start. Then it went down (and back up) the EAST coast. Eventually it got to a ‘local’ depot but they wouldn’t deliver it as I hadn’t paid for Saturday delivery. That I had posted it on a Saturday weeks before wasn’t the point 🙄 fortunately someone was able to collect and delivery it on my behalf (and it wasn’t in the depot they said it was either).

I complained and was promptly told to allow extra time due to Christmas as it’s a busy time.
Then they blamed the post office as they don’t do the area of wales I live in so never had it.
Did I know Christmas is a busy time?
Then they blamed road works....

Six months later (more comments about Christmas being busy) they agreed compensation would be paid (included in price not because I was being a pain)..

Money off my next delivery with parcelforce and, four second class stamps.

I wasn’t allowed the actual compensation because it was partly my fault for not paying extra for Saturday delivery.

I was so upset. Luckily she got it and loved it but as she was in a hospice at the time that was pure luck. Did they care? Nope.

Now I’ll pay anything to avoid dealing with them.
