No I don't think you're being a cow. I think you should trust your gut reaction (I always trust it!) in the meet up that something wasn't right and keep some distance as you've already done. Time will tell whether anything develops between them, and it might be that you've sensed. As you aren't interested him in romantically then I'd just leave them to it, especially as he wasn't nice to you. It sounds like she isn't a trustworthy person either. I'd just keep it civil during work hours only - you've done nothing wrong x
I second this- it sounds like they've both extended the comfort of your boundaries despite you making it clear where they are and there's nothing wrong with reinforcing and withdrawing! Professional at work and that's all they get from you ❤

I have some coffee pods - not the standard nespresso ones but Lavazza ones - which I don't need anymore as the machine is broken. Can they be recycled or donated?
Either pop them in your local pass it on group, or you can get a free bag from PodRecycle (I think that's their name, they advertise in Aldi) to recycle them

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. 💗

Sorry to interrupt. Ive a question regarding disability discrimination, whether this is it and what I can do. Bit of background am being made street homeless in few weeks time. Urgently need help regarding this and eviction notice/what happens etc. The only person willing to help, according to advocate works for mind, can only see me twice as I don’t qualify for their help as not severe incapacitated mentally and have physical needs (there’s no tenancy help with physical disability here you’re just supposed to go live with family or friends).

Here’s the problem, because of my disability I cannot access the building where they usually see physically disabled. So mind have told me I must pay for somewhere else as they can’t see me anywhere else. My advocate has disappeared on holiday for a week, and told me they’ll apply for funding next week. To try and get ahead I’ve contacted charities today and they’ve told me no, mind should be paying not me, the last (literally five minutes before they closed) told me it’s discrimination.

First I’m not sure if it is? Second no idea how to put in a complaint so it gets resolved and doesn’t become really ‘wordy’ like this post; my mental health is really poor and I’m struggling to grasp thoughts right now, hence being wordy.

Thanks.

Is there a library or community centre in the area that might have a private consultation space? Whoever told you that you would have to pay to rent a space is mistaken I hope, I’ve never heard of such a thing where there’s a disability access issue involved. I can’t speak to the actual legality of it in the UK (and if it is illegal what your resolution would be) but it would be a very ill-planned way of delivering a service to put a cost barrier in the way of disabled clients. Sorry you’re going through this at the moment, hope you get a positive outcome.

Mind is monitored but this organisation. https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/guidance/individuals

However, I would concentrate on the issue at hand before spending time with complaints that will need to be referred and investigated likely being resolved well beyond the timeframe you have, plus there’s no guarantee it’ll be in your favour.

I recall from your previous posts this has been a long time coming. Have you spoken to shelter?

This person in mind works for shelter too as it’s too rural for them to come here - I cannot get to swansea for an appointment (their suggestion). There’s no community centre or anything like that anymore as they’ve been closed. When we did have them I did approach but the cost was far more than the room I’ve found.

I made the suggestion of them paying as much as they would for the other rooms as I cannot manage the full amount and I’d top up (as a compromise) but they’ve refused that. They are insisting there’s not an access issue (as they can manage the acccess but they’re not physically disabled) and I’m being “deliberately difficult”. They do not have my condition and I cannot risk falling and ending up in hospital (which was what happened last time before condition deteriorated this much).

In terms of complaint I was thinking more of contacting Mind Cymru and asking them about it? I don’t have any time left for complaints. My health is declining rapidly and need this sorted before I end up in hospital and trapped there.

To clarify: I’ve not been doing nothing with regards to the issues/finding somewhere else. It’s taken this long to tenancy worker to see me and I’ve been trying for months but she’s been off ill and then away for Christmas and is only part time.

Hoping this makes sense!

You could contact Mind Cymru and they may offer an alternative but if they’re making reasonable attempts to accommodate you, they’re not obliged to find a solution or provide compensation. They’ve already said you’re not entitled to their service.
If you were entitled, they can’t try to charge you to use a free service. It is discriminatory to not provide a service because it’s cheaper than providing an alternative, but they could argue that they’re not the ones charging.
“Service providers must make 'reasonable adjustments' to allow a disabled person to use their services. If they don't do this, they must be able to show that their failure to do so is reasonable..”

If you were entitled to use the service, What you’re experiencing could be indirect discrimination.

“To prove that indirect discrimination is happening or has happened:

  • there must be a policy which an organisation is applying equally to everyone (or to everyone in a group that includes you)
  • the policy must disadvantage people with your protected characteristic when compared with people without it
  • you must be able to show that it has disadvantaged you personally or that it will disadvantage you
  • the organisation cannot show that there is a good reason for applying the policy despite the level of disadvantage to people with your protected characteristic”
In summary, it may be discrimatory but it’ll take time and effort to prove it and you’ll probably not gain anything from it. On the basis you’re not eligible for their service anyway, I don’t think it’s worth pursuing.

I will try Mind Cymru as there’s literally no other option for help, ideally I’d be able to get into their preferred room, shelter worker actually wasn’t part of mind (hard to distinguish what exactly their job is) or to Swansea to see the necessary housing specialist but those aren’t possible unfortunately. To be clear the room they want to see me in is in a hotel, nothing to do with mind or shelter, so they’re paying to see others there but expect me to pay in full elsewhere, I do accept I’d need to pay the top up (£10) but they say no must pay it all.

Confusing.

Anyway, thanks, I think I see a way forward now in that I’ll contact mind cymru for some advice and not mention discrimination just see what they advise.

You can get back to whatever conversation I interrupted now! 😉

Bought a pack of laminate floor. Need 8 planks. Ordered a pack of 6. Should I cancel the order or pay for another pack for 2 planks?
I have a few planks leftover from my last room, same colour but they're less thickness and they probably won't click into a different brand.
I just don't want to pay nearly £50 for a 2 square metre porch 😒

Any computer savvy people, is this a good deal for a gaming pc? Am still a bit wary with the whole building one but seen this an figured if I can get into it then maybe I could slowly upgrade over time when needed an this would be ok to start me off with
I can't see the price!

Sorry, it's £1,699 not sure if that's good or not, I expect it to be a bit more than building because the shop will add on its own profits it wants, but is that way over priced? Or not bad considering it's coming from a store?
I think it's expensive for what it is! The CPU is 2 generations old now. Have you tried Ebuyer?

Could you reach out to a local college/community campus and ask for direction? I’ve known 14 year old boys that can build stuff like that for much cheaper and they’ll have more savvy know how too.

I've never heard of ebuyer so I'll have a look thanks

Not really, I tried some FB groups but it's just all mixed with some saying this is good an others saying no, there's no clear direction with anything because if one says get such an such another is saying don't

Is there nobody recommended locally? We have a guy local to us we use to build us pc's to spec. Very knowledgeable and he is honest too. We got him recommended through facebook

There's only one an it was on FB I seen it, unfortunately it's a small town so it's not like there's a ton of places, we've only got like 10 shops, but I just wasn't getting great vibes off this one I seen, it's a little over a hours drive away an there's like 6 reviews, it seemed strange for someone who's apparently got a few years building an selling to only have that few reviews

Have you tried posting on Reddit? There’ll be a wealth of knowledge on there

Honestly? Given you don’t sound that “invested”, it’s a small area and you’re DIY, I’d fudge it with mixed colours and then stick whatever junk you end up storing in the porch on top of the mismatch bits. It’s not like you’re spending £20k on a kitchen floor you’ll drool at. You’re only coming in the front door and leaving your wellies on it - not somewhere you spend much time.
