We’ve changed the bedding together today which is unusual as we normally do it solo whilst the other fights for their life with the toddler. It’s caused a bit of a tiff, so I’m putting it to the internet to decide who is right:

On your duvet there are usually seams running across the length to break it into quarters; should they be horizontal or vertical on the bed?
It depends where the label is.

Mine is superking and the lines go horizontal. First time I changed the duvet on this bed I thought they'd go vertical but it was all askew so had to re-do it so the lines were horizontal

Has anyone used a styling service like Stitch Fix?

I’m in a real predicament as I am returning to work from maternity leave at least a size bigger than I left and I feel like I just don’t know what to wear. I just had a look on a few sites and I came away feeling overwhelmed. I feel like if I try and dress myself I’m going to look frumpier than I need to and I just feel a bit lost at this point.

thinking if I sign up to one of these subscription sites they’ll at least be sending me some current styles I can give ago, but I am not sure who to go with, I think there’s another called lookerio or something?

I have 2 duvets (winter/ summer) they are both different! I've a king and just put the longest side horizontal and that works

You may get a better response from another thread that’s on here. Something like, “things you can do to make yourself glamorous”

Absolutely don't recommend a service like that. I've tried it and my friend has tried it and it's super hit and miss. I asked for a jumper to be included in my selection and all they sent were 5 different jumpers. Was a complete waste of time.

John Lewis has a PA you can book. They are very good and work within your budget. I've cheated a little before when I used them by letting her pull clothes and help me style outfits and then I've gone and bought it cheaper else where once I knew what styles to buy

Thanks, I don’t really have time to spend with a service like that unfortunately and no JL locally.

Do you have a local M&S. Most places are really helpful if you ask a bit of advice. I recently went into a River island to buy clothes for my 16 year old nephew. I just asked the coolest looking SA in there what's popular and what to avoid and he pulled stuff for me that my nephew absolutely loved

One of the residents in my building owns a bulldog. I walked into the building and the dog was unleashed as it walked towards me on their way out. I’m honestly super stressed out because I’m not a fan of dogs in general, but an unleashed bulldog in an apartment building is a big no. I’m honestly worried for my safety as these dogs can be unpredictable.

A bulldog or a pitbull? Bulldogs are notoriously gentle, funny and friendly. I'd be surprised if it was aggressive

Honestly I would bring it up to building management and ask that all dogs stay leashed, I think that’s a fair ask and it helps the safety of people and the pet. I lived in a small estate years ago and one neighbour always had their dog loose. One day the dog (a big breed) ran towards a child who was part of a family visiting the other house and the dad jumped in front and kicked the dog extremely violently. It was a bad situation for everyone, I don’t think the dog had bad intentions but the dad panicked at seeing a large animal run towards a toddler. It’s safer for everyone for animals to be leashed.

Where’s the opening?
having re-read this seeing other replies, I must have odd duvets as mine are small squares, king size

Can anyone help me regarding a hen party? Do you have to get everyone a gift bag?

I’m maid of honour and it’s a night away with hotel, travel and activities. I’ve also paid for the bride. I’ve paid for card games, accessories for bride to wear etc and everything is adding up quickly! If I have to get gift bags it’s going to be a lot of money as there will be 16 people. It’s really making me worry as we don’t have loads of spare money.

We’re also paying to travel, hotel stop for the actual wedding plus of course wedding gift and everything else involved.

Please someone tell me I’m not a tight a for not wanting to do gift bags? Or if I am being tight can someone please give me suggestions of what I could give people?

Honestly I think gift bags are starting to become a thing of the past, been to many hen parties an I think there's only been two I've actually been giving one (which tbh went in the bin) at my SIL hen party we didn't do it, we figured we'd paid enough an it wasn't needed as we had paid for the game stuff an got prizes for "winners" an had put some money behind the bar so people could have a drink

Honestly I think you have paid enough an people won't mind if they get one or not, I know it depends on what you are getting for the bags if you done them but personally I find it pointless, the stuff I got I wasn't interested in an I wasn't keeping it around the house for the sake of it

definitely not, I agree with above they are becoming a bit of a thing of the past. Maybe bring a case of cokes/fanta’s and a few packs of Panadol/anti-nausea/vit C for the next morning, I think that would be appreciated more!

It might be easier with Stich Fix, but John Lewis also offer free styling with no obligation to buy.
