The idiots who lived in my house before me used gorilla adhesive to stick a mirror that isn’t shatter proof. Cue me trying to remove said mirror and ending up covered in tiny shards of glass while the majority of it is still stuck to the tiled wall.
Any thoughts on how to get this off? I’ve covered the back wall in wd40 and white spirit in the hope it dribbles down, but it’s not worked.
nail polish remover worked for me in a similar situation - but a LOT of it (i think i went through two bottles and the whole room stunk for a while but it worked!)

We seem to have quite a few really large flies lolling about the house today especially upstairs. Does anyone know why this might be? It's not hot at all and we thought maybe something was lying dead somewhere but then surely they'd be buzzing around the dead thing? These aren't buzzing at all they're just sitting/crawling on the walls and windowsills or flying really slowly at about eye level. It's creeping me out!
We do have some fly killer which works but I feel bad spraying them unless I really need to 😅

Do-solv it / sticky stuff remover!

I have no idea what to do next with my car. It is a 2014 plate, Insignia, my partner chose it but it's actually in my name. It's got loads of modifications which were there when we bought it. He's had a few scuffs in it, scratches all over the front corners and there's a dent in the back bumper. There's also an electrical fault where the car occasionally (more frequently now) goes into 'limp mode' which leads to the car going dangerously slow on the slightest incline, or gradually reducing speed when driving above 50mph, requiring the engine to be restarted for it to temporarily resolve the issue. We've thrown £500 for a company to check it out and replace a valve in the engine which hasn't fixed the issue. We'd need to pay additional £50 for further investigation and then further money for more work to be done (and even then there's no guarantee it will fix the issue. As they have no idea what is causing the issue!!) In addition to this, the cam belt is due to be replaced, and the clutch is sticking. Plus all the cosmetic work needs to be done and we have been quoted over £1000.
Basically the car is slowly failing (as cars do) but I don't think the work needed is worth it and we are looking to get rid of it.
It is on finance, I have approx £2k left to pay on it which is about 2 yrs left. I'm interested in hearing what others would do in my situation. Sell it? We were going to go with We buy any car but tbh we'd probably not get very much for it.

Scrap it. Sounds like it’ll be far more than £2k for all the work plus you’d have the hassle of selling. Unless it was a mega spec new, I wouldn’t bother. If the mods are all after market, I really wouldn’t bother. Take what you can get from anywhere because you’re just throwing good money after bad to try to fix it imo

That's a kick in the teeth when you still owe on it in finance. Can you take any of the mods off to sell and try and recoup some of what you still owe? Have you tried looking on forums / Reddit / Facebook groups for the particular model to see if there are any common faults that might be an easy fix?

Personally I would keep the car especially as it is still on finance. The scuffs and scratches can stay but the most important thing is to get limp mode sorted out. This can be difficult to figure out because with modern cars almost anything can be the cause of limp mode. Is there a mechanic you trust that could investigate and not charge £££
The thing is you can scrap it but then you are still £2000 in the hole and you lose out on what the car would actually be worth. Where as if you fix it you could even out with reselling

I encountered a bit so pleasant situation at work and would need some advice:

I had a panic/anxiety attack out of the blue at my desk (these never happen in public). I was very quiet, so it wasn’t very noticeable unless you were watching. It rarely happens but it did because I was under a heightened level of stress.

A coworker saw me rushing to the bathroom and followed me. I told them it’s just stress related, nothing to be worried about and I would like for this to remain private. Next thing I know, 10 minutes later this coworker went and told the people in my team and my manager about this after I had specifically told this person NOT to mention it to anyone. They blew up the whole thing out of proportions.

My manager rang me and saw I was fine afterwards. I was just having a personal moment which is what I told the manager.

This came right after the announcement that I was put on the track to move up to the next level of seniority.

I’m really frustrated now because I told this coworker not to tell anyone about this because it wasn’t worth escalating or running their mouth over. They did the polar opposite of what I told them thus breaching a boundary of mine.

Now, I’m worried this may affect their decision to put me on the track for the next level because I’m afraid the manager will think I’m not ready.

What should I do?

Tbh there isn't much you can do about the situation. I would just keep my head down and carry on as normal. Probably mention to your manager that this was blown out of proportion.
On a side note keep treating the co-worker as you did pre this episode. I know you are annoyed but if you start acting like that it might count against you

Thank you.

I told my manager yesterday I was having a moment and I don’t want this to be blown out of proportions. The manager said it’s no biggie and we all have our moments including them.

Also try to think instead of your co-worker being an a-hole, it most propably stemmed from genuine concern about you.

Half the time there’s policies that you have to report if you think a member of stuff if struggling so they most likely were doing it from a place of concern. I hope you’re okay x

Yes, I’m sure it did come from a genuine intention and concern. I just don’t want this situation to follow me around and people thinking I’ll have a panic/anxiety attack at the drop of a hat which is the case at all.

Fair, but this was an isolated incident and they know it. There was no prior indicator of me struggling. Now, if it becomes a repeated pattern, it should be reported but a one-off when the person was otherwise fine shouldn’t be a cause for concern.

If they’re (coworkers/managers) are going to judge your ability, work ethic and results on one moment compared to the rest of your work history, well that’s on them. Go about things as normal. Sounds like your manager has already moved on. Do you have someone to talk to about your stress, though?

Not really. I am taking a few days off to recentre myself. Hopefully, it will help.

I need some advice about how to approach a work situation.

So I’m part of a little project of 5 of us. In the past year I’ve done everything for this project and even though it’s not that much work it’s getting on my nerves that they do absolutely nothing! We would never have a meeting if it wasn’t for me, let alone get anything sorted. I could run this thing single handedly.

Ive decided that in our next meeting this week I’m gonna say that I need the work to be equal going forward. I’m not the leader of the group (there isn’t one) so I feel really awkward doing that. I totally acknowledge that I’m one of those proactive people that just gets things done so maybe they think I like doing it all. But at the same time, if you’re in a team, how can you let one person do ALL the work? I would never do that to a colleague.

I do like these people individually and we get on. I just don’t know how to tell them to stop being so lazy? Help?

Maybe just assign yourself leader and tell them what to do ie Paul you do x and Mary you do y and at our next meeting we can discuss progress

Set an agenda for the meeting. Divide out parts of the project to go through and assign them to people with deadlines. After the meeting follow up with the agenda with deadlines. Make sure you email after every meeting with what was agreed. Ask that seperate parts are to be saved down by the deadline and then collate them. If a part is missing do not chase it. Let it be incomplete and highlight this person as having missed the deadline. Not sure on Excel skills but you can also create a tracker for separate parts of the project with people's names on.

Thankyou both 🙏, part of the issue here is that we are all at the same level and I don’t want to manage this or them. It feels wrong for me to tell them what to do because in other projects amongst our team we work things out as equals. It doesn’t help that none of them don’t even want to be on this project and were forced by our manager!

Ah that's so hard. Perhaps instead you could say " I think the best way is divide and conquer so I wanted to put myself forward for X part of the project?" And see if people follow suit?.
