I was in a car accident today, my child wasn’t in the car and it was at less than 30mph, does anyone know if I should replace the car seat? Google seems to think not but my gut says I should, am I just being paranoid…

That is residual anxiety from the accident. That car seat will be absolutely fine. BUT if it will help you feel better then replace it if you can afford to

They always say even if baby wasn’t in car seat to replace anything that was involved in an accident. Hope you’re doing okay x

Thank you for your replies ❤ I had only just picked up my new car from the garage at the time so that was upsetting, and then I was so anxious over the whole thing. My son was on the verge of needing the next stage car seat (he’s just crept over the weight limit) so I think I’ll take the opportunity to replace it. I might not “need” to but I’ll definitely feel better, and if the insurance will pay for it then bonus!!
Edit to add: physically I’m totally fine! Emotionally I’m a bit of a wreck!

I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or if I’m overreacting and seeing this the wrong way.
I’ve been in my job for 5 and a half years, working 9-5 in the office, my colleague could work from home 2/3 days a week had a laptop, mobile phone and printer. Covid hit and I was given the opportunity to work from home with a laptop but I used my own printer, my own phone bought my own stamps etc for postage.
Since then I work in the office 9-3 before I pick my son up from school (lunch break) and then work from home until 5pm or later. I often take post outs home as there is just no time to do them in the office.
I will be leaving in October and going on maternity leave and they have employed my maternity cover, they have ordered her a mobile phone a laptop and a printer and allowed her to order any stationary she needs and she can also work from home 2 days a week.
I queried why she gets given a mobile phone and was told if you come back you can have hers.
Am I just being silly I just don’t think it’s fair!?

You should find as many receipts as you can and ask for reimbursement. It is indeed unfair but it might be too late now.

This. Get an itemised bill for your phone and work out the ratio of work calls to personal calls and bill them for the percentage. Stamps would be much harder, but stop doing that now - they should be providing stamps. We don’t work for fun, we work to live.

Did you ever ask before or ask how to expense your phone calls/toner/postage seeing as they made other arrangements for your old colleague and now your temp replacement? I’m not saying what’s happening isn’t unfair to a degree but sometimes managers aren’t the brightest folks!

I asked about a phone during covid and got told to use my own, I said to my colleague how come my replacement is getting a phone and the response I got back was when you come back you can have her phone. I just don’t think it’s fair that the last nearly 6 years there has been this expectation I had to be in the office a lot never got given these options and all of a sudden they have hired my maternity cover and she gets given these things straight away. I was always expected to juggle childcare yet my supervisor spent months at home because she got a dog!
 
Oh I’m not saying it’s fair at all, just without the context it was difficult to know if they’d just blindly assumed you were fine absorbing the cost or whether you’d actually flagged it before. It is unfair and poor management, I suppose it’s up to you what (if anything) you’d do about it.

I was going to ask the same thing, your replacement probably stated they were not prepared to use their own phone. Sometimes it is a case of who shouts the loudest and if you continued to use your own phone and covers postage costs they let you. Stand your ground. Submit some expenses and stop doing it.

My advice is yes, do. There could be invisible fractures to the plastic, even at low speed. It's not worth risk.
