Thanks, I never know if ghosting is the right thing to do but in this case I can’t see an alternative
I don't really see an issue ghosting if you haven't spoken in a long time. I suppose it's not different to changing your number and not giving her the new one

I used to think of her as family so it feels like quite a big decision for me, and I also recently saw some thing about ghosting being an immature reaction, so I wasn’t really sure. I guess everyone does it.

Honestly I think ghosting is only immature if you have been talking with them then suddenly ghost them, or you agreed to go somewhere an ghost

This I feel is different because you haven't spoken in a long time an did have a little bit of a fall out before it, both of you have kindi moved on since then

I don’t think you are exactly ghosting, you are putting boundaries in place and letting the natural end come. People cannot force themselves on you especially if it’s done when it only suits them.

OH paid a plumber to do some work. He did half a job and said he would be back the following day. Never arrived and said he got his days mixed up and he would be here Sunday. Again, never turned up. OH rang him yesterday and he said he can’t get here but he would call today. Not turned up again and ignoring my husbands text. We’ve paid up front for this - any way we can get our money back at all? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Unless you have a contract then sadly I think you might be screwed, without paperwork then it's a your word/his word thing an he could easily just say he's done an take your money

You could talk with citizens advice, but again if this was all done just by agreement then there's nothing legally you can do, you could also put online that you paid an he never done anything to try an see if that will get him to pay some money back but be very careful with wording so it doesn't backfire

But next time it's best to get some contract formed an signed, if anything goes wrong like this then you have that to fall back on as you could do a small courts claim

My brother is an alcoholic. His illness is escalating. Last night at 2am I was woken by a loud knock at the door. My other brother opened it and it was two women who said our alcoholic brother had collapsed and was lying out in the road. He was In bed all day, then walked to the pub at six this evening, back on it yet again. I’m so bleeping sick of it. I hope every pub shuts in this awful bleeping country. I don't think there’s any advice for me, I just needed to vent 😔
Sorry you're going through this. It's a horrible, horrible disease.
There is help out there for those affected by someone else's alcoholism Al-Anon UK | For families & friends of alcoholics if you feel it would benefit.

So confused. Letter says attend jury service tomorrow morning but I called the phone number they gave me for an updated message (was recorded Friday) says wait for a call from them on Monday morning too see if I need to attend Tuesday. Do they always make it this confusing for something so important? Do I stay home or go??

from the information you gave i’d stay home and await a call like they said. I hate stuff like that, i’d be up all night worrying about it

When I done jury service they told us to ring the number for updates as those would be the most recent. Told us to ring every morning aswell before driving to court to make sure was still required

Try not to worry but I’d have thought it’s on them if they left that message. Try ring first thing tomorrow too.
I've just listened to the telephone msg again (4th time) and now it makes sense 😄
They will ballot in my absence on Monday and call me if I'm needed for Tuesday 😅

Got a new job as a receptionist/admin, is there anywhere online that does nice clothes at a good price? I've gotten some things from shein but won't know till they come if they are any good, I did try the shops today but there was hardly a thing, doesn't help all I've got is a new look an Matalan

Am a bit lost on what I should be wearing, don't really want to be in black trousers an a plain top everyday but obviously am not going to show up in jeans which right now is all my wardrobe mostly consists of, so any sites that sort of group things up will help

I wouldn't buy a lot until you have been there a week or so and can suss out what everyone else wears and buy similar I.e. if it is more formal or a bit more smart casual.

Maybe get a pair of black trousers and a couple of tops that you can mix up with other bits for the first week or two.

I think dresses are great for work - you don’t have to coordinate an outfit- just pop it on. Add a jacket, blazer or cardi as required.

I've got quite a few work bits from Tu at Sainsburys. You can buy in store but there's a bigger range online, and often offers like 20% off dresses.

Thanks I'll have a look at Tu, we don't have a Sainsbury's but I'll try get out to one, I have enough for maybe a week or two if I rotate things, but eventually I'll need a better wardrobe, it's my own fault really for not having invested in a decent wardrobe an just lived in jeans an t-shirts 😅 or I'd probably have had some nice tops an bottoms I could have gotten away with for the first while
