Welcome to the Team rh cult!! His disciples will shoot you down if you dare to diagree with their Master!!
I know , last week i was on te fb group every 2seconds panicking or posting but now ive gone quiet on there and not really looking. Richie just seems so aggressive and lacks common sense - and hes not interested in uncovering why people feel eating unhealthy is cheaper of pressurising the government to change things, no hes just slagging them off. Really annoys me.
Christ, sounds like it's got worse 🤦🏼‍♀️ if that's possible! They are really toxic. Denying yourself anything is literally diet culture, the very thing they take the piss out of. I stopped using his ridiculous methods of stressing over fibre and protein, I have counted my cals 100%, without walking a million steps a day and I'm losing weight very easily on a good budget of 1600cals. A lot quicker and a more pleasant experience, than his suggested 1800 cals and a bare min of 5000 steps.

It IS a cult and his members are so desperate to be part of the cool kids, not many will pipe up and say how they really feel.
It really is. They preach no food is banned and i really fancied a kfc. Been wanting it for 2weeks and posted on geoup that i was gonna have 1. A few members wers nornal and said enjoy, 1 said i shouldnt have treats until i nail my macros and once i nail my macros i wont want kfc anyway. So bottom line is i ahoulsnt have kfc. I did anyway.

I think to be fair some of the barshit advice comes grom menvers not rh but surely as an admin its his role to stop those discussions? When someone is stepping next to their sleeping child surely its down to him to say enough is enough? When someone is obsessed with getting their steps even when injured he should say something? He shouldnt be encoursgung people to get up earlier or go to bed later for steps - sleep is important!! When members post aboyt considering white rice in rit allowance he should say something, and when someone says they struggles with steps they shouldnt be called lazy! Ill do around 11k today. I had a day off and a lie in. I walkes to and from supermarket and its started to snow. I might go for a walk before bed as it calms me and is healthier than wine. Im gonna try and be more realistic- ive been drawn into members saying to step during lunch, step at break, step step step, that my work productivity has actually gone down and i hate myself for lying in and not going for a walk before work. This week im putting work first. Ill still do walk in lunchtime and after work but i aint gonna stress. Last week i went walking in the snow for 'steps' and almost broke my neck lol.

There are some supportive people too. What i dont like is being told to weigh wraps, crackers, breads, chocolate bars etc rsther tjan entering 1 slice or whatever. I understand weighing cheese etc but weighing out a ham sarnie yogurt snd can of coke individually just takes twice as long.
I do also think his tough talking as he calls it has a place but he takes it too far. Rather than mentioning chocolate starfishes 🤢 and calling us all lazy and deluded, he could make a post about how eating healthily can be seen as more expensive but hefes tbe benefits, some people spend xxx on takeaway, nd heres some tips if ypure on ypur uppers/cant afford leccy/ link to jack monroe, while acknowledging if you live a life of poverty not to feel guilty at seeking comfort through food. He (and many posters) come across as middle class people whove not had to struggle too hard; certainty bet RH has never walked 2miles in rain to and from ahop with screaming children, got ome and soaked lentils in a freezing flat only to have the kid refise to eat it and then cry at bedtime as theyre hungry. He just comes across as ignorant - yes all us fatties waste cash on takeaway and whine at the cost of blueberries arent we knobs ha ha ha.

Their protein powder isnt fab eiher. I bought a pack as struggling with protein and the fb group would have us believe its better than cadburys. I mean its alrigjt, and its not awful, but it tastes like those cheapo powders you use to make instant hot choc..certainly not as good as cadburys.

The plan i do like, but i think rh attitude is way off and he needs to take responsibility for what goes in the group too as it is dangerous

This thread has opened my eyes a lot. I joined team rh 3weeks ago and have lost 6lb so far, and tbf its not the plan im finding fault with. The plan itself of counting calories, protein and fibre goals and walking lots make sense.

Its tje attitude surrounding it i dont like. This week richie put a post up lambasting people for sayinf eating healthy is expensive. Cue people agreeing and telling us how cheap aldi is, how much lentils cost and its all laziness. I posted around how for some people eating healthy is impossible- food deserts, food and fuel poverty,,etc. I posted how the cost of porridge is beside the point - im lucky i can either walk or fund transport to a cheap shop, am lucky i have the fuel with which to cook, am lucky that if i screw up a meal its only for me and ive not got crying toddlers amd no food in the cupboard. I pointed out that most of us are ok cooking dahl for hours as aside from having the momey to do, we can look forward to netflix and a warrm home, our comfort can come from things other than food. I signposted george orwells the rd to wigan pier and why if youre poor youre more likely to eat junk. Got not 1 like but people sharing how chesp lentils are got a personal reply off rh.

In the members fb group theres a member with a poorly toddler who is knavkered after a 12hr shift and who is desperate to fall asleep bit instead she 'stops being lazy' and stands next to the sleeping childs cot doing her steps. Lots of replies saying how wonderful and dedicated that is snd how easy it would be to give into the laziness. I posted advising it isnt laziness just exhaustion and sleeping is important but no reply.

'Making up steps' whixh makes it sound like ot cant be fun. Ive been in to doing sat down workouts in between work calls and my focus isn't on work but on weight loss which is bad.

Someone posted about doing their ankle in and wanting to get steps in - i was the only person who advised rest and to not try and workout. Others were saying not to drop your steps.

Apparently white bread, wraps, mayo etc ate rit! And if youre having wine and choc of an evening thats 20pc rit you cant have mayo on your chicken wrap. Ffs.

The whole calories in va calories out yet if youre not loosing its cos youre not hitting your protein or fibre.

Im all for going for walks which i actually really enjoy, and even a lunchtime sat dowm workout is fun, but stepping up and down mindlessly or getting up at 6am to do walkie talkies? Nope.

I hate how its always laziness, no it isnt. I actually posted this in the group and got shouted at 😂 by other menbers as i said its easy to tell someone to work harder and do cyz when the person saying this has few commitments themselves.

I posted how scanning every single thing cor lunch was taking too lomg (usually whack veg in a pan, atir thru grains, whack in halloumi, seperate inyo 2 bowls then halve ingredients. So if 88g halloumi in pit i halve it and 44g per portion). Been told thsts wrong and i need to spend 10mins creating a convoluted recipe on wfp. When in reality the food is getting eaten accross 2days so does it matter if its 50g on both days or 60g and 40g? Apparently, yes it does

Richie doesnt seem to listen to membets who dont sgree with him either. Ive not looked st the fb groups so much as it was getting to me tbh

Ive paid f the year so im gonnakeep going and see how ido asi have already lost , but no counting medications or obsessing over fb
this is exactly it, it does work, but also, where is the joy in life if all you are doing is counting every calorie and not enjoying cake on your kids birthday or just getting up at 6am marching on the spot. They claim it’s a lifestyle change, and definitely some of it should be implemented, but extremes lead to it being unsustainable. I don’t believe it teaches you how to learn how to eat intuitively or manage your portions or healthy foods going forward. Just focus on calorie counting forever. Richie just diets and bulks endlessly and that is his suggested plan for everyone. But it is not healthy and no better than being obese in my opinion. I’ve never been overweight and just wanted some sports nutrition and they were trying to push me into body building and eating 3500 calories a day! No thanks.

Oh and i thought their protein powder was meant to be out of this world! 👌👌
But i forgot he isnt out to make a profit, he deeply cares about his members!...Yeah whatever!!!.

Also, because he sits back and doesn’t say anything he can’t take the blame. But he is spearheading it all. He’s also hired all ex members as coaches despite them not having proper fitness or nutrition qualifications. When I messaged them and said I’d had disordered eating in the past and was struggling “just follow the rules” when I said I had anxiety and had had a panic attack “send us a video of you using the callipers” vile. I smashed them up! Haha

He deletes anyone that stands up to him I think. Under the guise of “keeping things positive” toxic positivity and fragile masculinity. I know he reads these things because he’s posted before about people kicking off in “the forums” haha read it all and weep little man.

Im ashamed i got sucked in tbh. It wasnt a quick decision either ive been following on fb for 3yrs and liked whst they were saying. Im still gonna stay in as ive paid for the year and i am losing weight. Just taking everything said with a pinch of salt and continying to be a voice of reason on there.

I think its a clear sign of unprofessionalism that instead of addressing and responding to concerns or comments in a calm mammer , he refers to it as 'kicking off in the comments'as though people are toddlers and not full grown adults. Anyone who dares to want to watch corrie of an evening with a cuppa is told to 'stop fingering your bumhole to corrie and get some steps in' and low and betide you if you want to put your steps down. Having some tea now and im only on 10000 steps and am not bouncing like a demented person getting them in yay!

He likes to chuck in a bit of homophobia as he’s masking his own feelings I think. He’s gross. I was so upset about taking it so far. I nearly bloody passed out in the park with my child! I had to get home to get my blood sugar up. I want to know who their regulatory body is. I’m so angry honestly. It’s not our fault, they have good pr and they tell the truth about calories so you get sucked in, but they don’t tell you what happens next. Terrible people.

Forgive my igronance, I had to Google death grip!!
What the hell does Rachael, see in him??
I don’t feel like she has much personality left to be honest. I’ve noticed there’s less and less content from her, she seemed to be in loads of stuff about 7 months ago and now barely anything.

Randomly ... I bet he’s got death grip. He is certainly enough of a misogynist to be one of that gang.
Omg I had to Google this. I had an ex with this problem! He reminds me of him a lot! 🤣

Ita the self deprecating i find worse tbh. Members saying how theyre lazy or full of bull excuses, how they need to fix the duck up, how they need a kick up the a, how they need tp get steps in reagrdless, ots just the constant beating up of yourself. And RH does nothing to stop it. In fact he encourages it with his rsnts.

Still in shock and anger thzt he seriously thinks eating healthy is cheap fpr everyone includong those living in crippling poverty

Exactly. The asking for people to hold them accountable. Accountable! Like it’s a crime to not get 15k steps or eat a couple of extra biscuits. I think it’s why they get away with it, as most people will quit, but blame themselves for not “grafting” hard enough. So feel like they have only themselves to blame, when actually it’s all based on lies that it’s actually sustainable.

Finding this thread has been eye opening, I thought it must just be me that was the problem. I’m loathe to post as he’s just using this forum for content ideas (as a side note, content has taken a nose dive since they got all the January diet crew in, no videos, no graphics ripped off from The Fitness Chef etc), but I feel others might also find it and save themselves the heartache of exposing themselves to this.

I joined in 2019 and my eating is now so disordered, I’ve ducked my mindset up so much - AND I’m 1.5 stone heavier thanks to all the binging I’ve done. I stress so much about macros, steps, nutrient dense etc I don’t know what to eat any more and I spend everyday getting stressed about it and binging as I think duck it. Don’t get me wrong, calorie deficit works. Of course it does. But, not everyone can cope with that level of obsession - as an all or nothing person, being told to weigh every slice of bread, cold tablets, vitamins, weigh food you’d left on the plate to remove from your total, eat your calories even if you’re not hungry (the one that he really pushes) just made me completely neurotic. People being told if they’re not hungry but have calories left, eat a packet of ham, make a shake. What about just don’t eat as you’re not hungry?!. In a past life, I was a healthy weight, I ran marathons. Then I was hit by a car, recovered, then had a baby. My body has taken a literal beating and I just wanted to get healthy, now I’m worse than I’ve ever been and can’t see a way out.

I also struggle with the inconsistencies and the bad advice. Weighing everyday, sure I get that taking an average and just seeing it as data can be useful, but I also didn’t want to weight myself in front of my 1 year old daughter every morning, what kind of message is that giving her? When I said as much I basically got told to weigh at night “if it is such a big deal”. It really upset me as I don’t want my daughter thinking she needs to assess her body every day of her life, she doesn’t need to see this obsessive tit so early yet I’m basically lazy/an idiot if I don’t.

Another fun fact. At my calories, 1700, if I add 3 workouts a week it bumps to 1800 but protein goes DOWN. Someone rightly questioned this as surely you’d need more protein for muscle repair - but asked if maybe the additional carbs were for energy. Basically a solid nutritional reason. There isn’t one.
It’s basically because that’s the way MFP percentages work. So their nutritional advice is based on a one size fits all computer generated number, not what is best for your body, or the circumstances you’ve entered. Comments on that post were shut down, obviously, can’t dare point out the obvious.

Criticising Slimming World, then making some disgusting cottage cheese, weetabix and flavour drops combination - that is exactly what they do at SW!! Why is it any better if you’re doing it under the guise of macro obsession? Eat mad food combinations just to hit the numbers.

Having meltdowns and rants while telling his members that no one cares how hard their life is. Showing these ridiculous drawings of pen trackers. I mean.... I’m not a 15 year old boy. It’s crazy I gave this company money. Sorry for the length of this... so much anger right now.

Oh darling. This was my biggest fear for people. This was where I felt I was heading. I was literally sobbing because I didn’t know how to eat anymore as I couldn’t get the callipers readings right. I ended up panicking and thinking I just don’t know how to eat anymore. Since the weekend, I just stopped tracking and stopped “smashing the weights” and started doing workouts I genuinely enjoy from boxing and bubbles, pop sugar etc and I’ve actually lost a pound. I’m just desperate for my periods to come back after starving myself for so long.

That pen tracker was vile. I think they really appeal to the lowest type of people. It’s juvenile. I agree with the setting a bad example. I’m all for my son seeing me workout but not the weighing everything including myself. I was doing it in secret before he woke up 😔

I’m trying to take elements from it, more protein and fibre in my diet, but just trying to eat what feels right. Not pushing myself to stuff food in when I don’t want it, not having a day where I consume a huge amount of carbs. Just eating what feels right for my body. I hope you can find a way to come back to yourself.

I can recommend following all of these for self love and deprogramming some of the bull advice.

The irony of this is that he was all slagging off the government for their terrible meals that they’d sent and bigging up Marcus Rashford (is that his name?) for his free meals programme not long ago. So what is it? People need help or they don’t? 🤷🏻‍♀️
