But isn't that always the way? if you (plural) like a ringer, they elevate the series and everyone else is boring. If you dislike them, then they're a dancebot and 'Strictly has always been about the journey contestant'. We're all hypocrites!
I'm also sure people who dislike Dianne would prefer Chris if he were paired with Katya or Lauren. Similarly, If Tasha were with Nikita or Carlos they might be regarded as #iconic, especially if they brought out the trashy LI side of her (that clip

BIB I think this is part of my issue with the likes of Tasha and Pete, I’m not really sure why they’re considered a celebrity, same goes for GK Barry on IACGMOOH, they’re basically fame hungry ordinary people. Tasha must have a different personality for different reality shows. It is like night and day according to that dance vid, I have never wwatched LI btw. It is anyone's guess what she is really like but she is coming across as rather tedious with previous dance training.

I'm baffled by "reality" TV "stars" and the fascination with watching identikit people with little personality, intelligence or talent (with some exceptions) fake drama for the cameras BUT these show attract large audiences and lots of engagement so clearly there's something in them, it just doesn’t appeal to me.
It's not a new phenomenon though, really. Jane McDonald effectively became famous from reality TV, albeit a slightly different kind. Maureen from Driving School would have been through all the celeb shows if they'd existed during her "fame".
If ever we're watching TV and my OH does his usual 'who is that? Why are they on this?' I say the usual rule is they're one of three things a) reality tv star b) comedian c) dj on some radio station.
