Storm Eowyn

My neighbourhood WhatsApp group has been pinging all day - flashing flying off roofs, big branches down, garages and sheds destroyed. Most recent is a neighbour a few doors up saying a big tree outside his house is on the verge of coming down - he's phoned emergency services but it's just to warn us.

My question is, about the dog! I thought it would have died down by now but I'm actually scared to go outside with him, but he needs out. What to do?
Our dog won't go out either, won't even go into the garden when it's stormy, try to find the nearest little patch of grass near your home?

We're just surrounded by trees round here (as well as roofs). Mine's normally a big scaredy cat, but was very brave this morning. He's scared of the dark as well though so I'm just going to attempt to get him out now I think.

I didn't take the dog out after all - by the time I'd faffed around wondering whether to, getting a deluge of WhatsApp messages telling me about all the damage, he'd done a big poo and wee in the living room anyway 🙈

Well that’s the lights out lads 😭 sitting like a spanner with my wee candles, the street is all out. Hopefully we’ll get it back soon

I’m know we’re supposed to be out of the red now, but am I alone in thinking it’s not died down at all yet?!

We’ve no phone lines, and trees down all over the place.

I had a spin class booked and I decided to cancel it as it still feels like the gusts are really strong and I don’t really fancy driving in it. Still hearing of trees coming down too. Studio still charged me a late cancellation fee though… 🙄 you think they’d be a bit more lenient in a weather warning.

My cat did a poo at the back door, not like her at all, it was very runny, dunno why she didn't just go in the litter tray, it's not like she actually has to leave the house to venture outside into the storm for a tit! 🤬
Cheeky sod.

Probably nerves - my dog's an emotional poo-er (and farter).

Me too. 😊

West Coast Scotland and it's much quieter here now although still strong winds. We've some damage to roof so that needs sorted.

Our small shops and takeaways are open and doing deliveries too. Crazy.

Shed’s in bits, 3 fences down did manage to move the cars so avoided them getting damaged. Think we might have issues with the roof I’ve got a constant weird creaking and dripping noise coming from a cupboard been up the loft but I can’t see any issues, but it’s driving me mad so think I’ll be sleeping downstairs tonight. Sky, Broadband and landline out this happened this time last year and took until May to properly get fixed, Uncle was really distressed earlier as he’s lost the roof off his garage, and some slates off the roof - he’s quite elderly and on his own so we were worried about him but the insurance company were fantastic with him and they’re sending someone out next week. Tomorrow’s clear up should be fun especially as we don’t know where the garage roof has gone 😳

Well the power’s back on thankfully. Sounds quieter outside now. I have no idea if there’s any damage to the roof but the fences are still up. Yellow alert here for snow tomorrow.

I’ve seen some absolutely wild videos including roofs coming right off.

I don’t know how many times I have had to think what day it is.
Certainly doesn’t feel like my usual Fridays. 🙈

I was watching BBC News channel discussing the weather, as the Earth warms by every 1C the faster the Jet Stream - (5km up above) becomes, bringing more powerful weather systems.
For this storm the Jet Stream picked up the unusual snowfall which had been dumped on Texas & Louisiana for the 1st time in decades, that moisture evaporated, pressure dropped low & winds increased to 250mph as the Jet Stream sent the storm across the Atlantic to us.
