Thread for the incoming storm eowyn 😁
Currently a red weather warning for some parts tomorrow for extreme winds. Schools, nurseries and public transport are all off as well as several other businesses.

We've made sure torches are easy to grab, phones and devices charged. Work is cancelled as are schools so a day at home for us all.

We do lose power in situations like this so are prepared.

Hoping it passes for everyone with minimal disruption and no injuries.

It's quite scary isn't it? I have to work so I'm not sure what to have prepared, I'm kind of worried about leaving my pets home alone but there's people i work with who are leaving their children at home so I feel I can't really say anything

I’m in a red weather warning area. Working from home tomorrow (hoping the wifi goes off so I get the day off!)

The longest I remember loosing power for was 3 days and that was years ago. I’ve charged all the lamps, portable phone chargers & my switch 😂all the essentials.

I'm in the red warning area, we have a wobbly bottom of the garden fence so I put a couple of props against it. Just hoping the shed roof doesn't blow off 😬
Sray safe everyone, it's very rare to have a red warning alert.

The last one I had was the beast from the east but it wasn't in place until it had already started snowing so a bit apprehensive over how bad it's going to get or if it'll miss us 🤔

Good luck to all those in the red warning area. I hope the storm passes with no damage to your homes and local areas.

I'm in a yellow area but close to the amber area. It's currently very calm here at the moment "calm before the storm"

Will see what happens over the next 18 hours or so!

Definitely getting a bit worried here. We’re (Dublin) usually quite lucky with storms but this is our first red warning in a good while. Got everything charged and my gas hob for hot water. Hopefully won’t need any of it.
Hope everyone stays safe.

If you are in West, Central or SW of Scotland it won't be missing you, same if you are anywhere in North/South Ireland.
I think the winds will be pretty dangerous tomorrow, sometimes the warnings can be a bit overblown but a red warning is a definite worry.

In the red area. Transport cancelled, school cancelled, bins cancelled and local Tesco has been ransacked 🤣 oh and a rather nice alert on the phones that scared the bejesus out of folk! Been red alert since 10am but phones pinged about 5:45pm so if there was a nuke we’d be deed well before the alert 🫣 stay safe everyone - we survived hurricane bawbag, we can survive this 🌪

I cannot wait for the trampoline videos 🤣

See we get amber and yellow warnings a lot and although they are milder warnings, they are still warnings but nothing really comes from them.
The only red one I've had has been the beast from the east and my work closed down for it but we're staying open for this one so that's maybe why I'm cautious of getting too concerned about this one. I'm definitely worried about leaving my pets at home alone though

A question though, I've seen people saying your car insurance doesn't cover you for driving in a red warning but I work with vulnerable people who rely on me being there, I can't be off. Does anyone know if there's any truth in that or is it just a hype thing going around?

That alert was not the one. I got it through my Apple Watch and nearly jumped oot my skin 😬

I’ve just had an email about Tesco closing and all deliveries cancelled. That must have really pained them to make that decision. Glad for the staff hope they don’t lose out though.

Not sure if this link will share but I'm in Scotland. It's so peaceful right now. That red/purple area is the jet spikes of wind that are coming out way, about to jump into our low air pressure area with a huge amount of force.

Hope everyone has had the chance to secure everything and stay safe at home until it passes 🙏💞

I'm not long in from taking my dogs out and it's so quiet. I don't know if it's just in my mind because I'm anxious but it's just so quiet and eerie out there
