Agreed. The loudest ones on social media think it will always translate to real life but when it doesn't, they start getting even angrier. The anti-racist protestors have organised themselves very well against these mats.

My eldest son lives in Manchester. He’s 34.

He was born in Newcastle but we moved down to Manchester when he was 8. His Dad is from Singapore and he has his skin colouring. I have told him to stay indoors today. What has this world come to. He is British through and through, has lived his whole life here. Today (every day I suppose, but particularly today) he risks getting beaten to a pulp in his home city because he looks like a ‘Paki’.

*edit to add that even if he was an immigrant it wouldn’t make it any worse, but hopefully people understand what I mean!

We were happy enough to have it post war when people were needed to start the country up. And we are happy to wave people off to other countries to make a new life. Like we wee happy for the immigrants to work shifts when Covid locked down nursing homes riddled with it. And to work in the factories when we wanted stuff to entertain ourselves. And everyone loved a cheap polish builder years ago when it meant the house got sorted quickly or a bathroom fitted.

I’m not saying that I’m the biggest fan of no skilled immigration when it means then that a family of twenty come over and don’t make an effort. But at the same time British people only complain when it doesn’t suit them and forget when we have needed or wanted to have skilled people here.

We always go and see the cruise come in, they always make a big deal of it and it’s always chocker and they do fun things for the kids there. That’s been ruined today by dragged up scrotes who want to spit their racist venom

I personally wouldn’t equate an invasion as the same as immigration, but it does show that there is really no such thing as an English race, that’s why our language is such a hotch potch of different roots from many different languages.

Every European language is a hotch potch of Greek, Latin and the native tongue of which ever Germanic tribe made a land grab in that are when the Western Roman Empire collapsed. I’ve never understood why people think this has some sort of unique relevance to English.

I’ve always understood, when being forced to listen to Black (Pseudo) History at university, that Caribbean immigrants faced everyday discrimination, casual racism, and the real threat of violent assault if they so much as spoke to a white woman. They were barred from certain housing and largely did low level jobs due to full employment in the population.

Are you now telling me that I was right after all and the whiny Black History professor was being a professional victim? I always suspected that.

Health and Social Care industries were absolutely on their knees during COVID and this is when the government changed their policies and actively recruited people and their families from abroad, in order to cover it. There’s been a fairly recent Panorama documentary about Immigration which discusses exactly this issue. Social Care in particular, was dangerously close to being declared unsafe by CQC in many, many sectors.

Im not denying that the immigrants in the windrush generation and others had to face racism, that’s kind of the whole point I’m making about racism. It’s not really a response to immigration, it’s rather a response by some people who need someone to hate and will look for any convenient reason that doesn’t mean they need to question themselves.
