They've only ever pretended to care about women and girls when it gives them an excuse to beat up / kill people of a different ethnicity. If 'helping' to stop misogyny relies on violence towards others, it's absolutely useless.

The state of them. They all look like they stink.

Yes I wonder this too @HockyRorror , feels like society has changed somehow. Purely anecdotal of course, but no one seems to want to discuss anything any more (Tattlers excepted). We all have differing views and opinions, and that’s ok, but why does the first response have to be violence and aggression. I am starting to feel like my mother who bless her, moved to deepest darkest Scotland to knit and “escape the madness” lol

Maybe if the government didn’t force multiculturalism on the country without actually asking if anyone wanted it tit wouldn’t be so bad

Lol have you forgotten what country you're from? It's almost as if you have forgotten the history.

Perhaps not appropriate to post here but:
I would like to acknowledge that today a ceremony is being held, in Northern Iraq, to commemorate 10 years since the Yazidi men, older women and children were killed en masse by ISIS. Also the woman and girls captured and sold into sex slavery, with some still remaining enslaved by their captives who remain active in small pockets.
I would also like to acknowledge the Kurdish female and male military who fought on the ground to destroy ISIS but remain stateless, without a nation of their own.
Thank you.

This country was built upon multiculturalism. People from all over moved here in different periods of time because we were known for being welcoming to minorities.

People were also encouraged to come from Commonwealth countries. When Enoch Powell was minister for health he actively recruited nurses from the Caribbean to the NHS.

Makes me laugh when any “protester” states proud Anglo Saxon, it literally means your ancestry is traced to German settlers you spoons!

So we need to determine the difference between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants come to the country via legal channels on a skilled worker visa or a study visa, and if working, pay the usual tax and NI the same as anyone else whilst they are here.

illegal immigrants arrive in the country either by usual channels or via small boats, making a claim for asylum pretty sharpish afterwards. An illegal immigrant claiming asylum or refugee status, will be housed and will be given £37.75 per week to feed and clothe themselves. They have no other recourse to public funds during this time. So no, they are not sending money home. The legal immigrants may well be, but it is their own money which they have earned.

In 2022 the foreign born population in the UK was estimated to be 14%. Net migration figures at Dec 2023 was around 685,000, taking into account over 500,000 people who had returned home either because their study or work visa had expired or because they were an ex pat.

A couple of links for you:

Are you forgetting the black (as it’s called) or hidden economy?
People come, or are trafficked here, to work in nail bars, car washes etc. (not to mention the even more nefarious ‘professions’). Paying off the debt to their smugglers via their work.
It’s not great for the victims of smuggling.
Who could forget the terrible tragedy of the Vietnamese in the back of the lorry.

The first great known migrations into the UK were the Belgae, a Celtic people, who displaced the Iron Age natives, this was of course well before the concept of the Nation State. The next three great migrations, we’re in turn the Romans, Saxons, and Vikings, all of whom arrived as violent conquerors. We of course don’t know if they were indeed welcomed but as conquest usually involves mass murder, grape, and confiscation of land it is perhaps unlikely. The next great wave came in 1066 with the Normans. Which resulted in the Harrowing of the North and economic devastation which latest decades. Again unlikely to be welcomed.

Following from 1066 there have been no successful military invasions of the UK. There were a number of Flemings arrived from the Low Countries in the Plantagenet period, who were moved to Wales, again probably not welcomed by the locals they displaced. Roma have been present for centuries, but even today are not universally welcomed, and there have been Jewish communities since the Middle Ages, subject to regular pogrom, which is one of Britains less than glorious inventions.

Anyhow a good potted history here.

Plenty of secondary sources listed there if you don’t trust wiki. But it is largely correct.

Tell me. Which of these major migrations were welcomed? And note the massive completely out of proportion increase in the last 100 years.

I personally wouldn’t equate an invasion as the same as immigration, but it does show that there is really no such thing as an English race, that’s why our language is such a hotch potch of different roots from many different languages.

Immigration from Carribean countries was actively encouraged and initially welcomed, Windrush generation?

I’m really not sure what point you are making with the boats, as I was specifically referring to the fact that historically immigration has been actively encouraged it’s something of a Straw man argument.

Because you were harking back to a different world. It doesn't compare to the immigration taking place today, does it.

Well, it sort of does because racists are awful to anyone they perceive as a different ethnicity regardless of when they arrived or where they came from. I was responding to a point about when immigrants have been welcomed historically.

Obviously here is only about opinions, but I am of the opinion that many of these protesters, who still represent a tiny minority of the total population, have hijacked the murder of these beautiful children to be aggressive and hateful to anyone and everyone they see as an “immigrant” regardless of their place of origin, faith or when they immigrated.
