Due to a request in the Real life and crime thread.

Currently known facts:
•3 Little girls have unfortunately lost their lives in the attacks, with others still in critical condition
•They were attacked towards the end of a Taylor Swift themed dance class.
•A Justgiving page has been set up for donations to Alder Hey Children’s hospital where victims are being treated.
•Attacker was a 17 year old male who has been arrested and is in custody. Born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and lived in the area.
•A lot of subsequent events including a riot led by potential members of the EDL with police vans having been set on fire and at least one female officer with a broken nose. Other reports of a man wielding a knife wearing a balaclava near the vigil.

Anything else to be added please do so.

I have no words. What on earth has our country become. violent thugs targeting a mosque full of people, many of whom went to pray after being at the vigil, distraught at what has happened. I am so ashamed of what society has become. What a stain on those poor girls and their families. Heartbreaking

Just to note, the false identity being bandied around within a short time emerged from a US website. There are a lot of seriously dubious elements, both angry politicised individuals, fringe political actors/grifters and hostile foreign states (Russia, for one) whose state media and bot farms will signal boost anything that boosts a certain narrative - in this case, that the gaping mole who murdered three little girls was a Muslim doing jihad (which entirely remains to be seen) - or that causes division in some way within western societies. It's been the way since Soviet times - boost and fund ANYTHING that causes strife here, no matter the political alignment.

The small element out causing trouble in Southport are the same who boost Kremlin narratives about all sorts of things too - including Ukraine. The US and European hard/alt right is Kremlin aligned either for funding or through general stupidity.

My other thought is oh, god, the police van tipped and on fire, it's the Leeds nonsense all over again - a pattern is starting to emerge. Of course, it's summer - UK always reaches peak unrest in the summer months when there's more light and it's waarm enough to hang about outside and start stupid tit ... oh, and school holidays mean there are more than the usual number of useless dumbfucks ready to start trouble.

Correction to the beginning post: It’s a police van tipped not set on fire. Can’t edit it since it’s 20 mins past the posting. Apologies for the wrong information!

It really is all starting to seem very coordinated, I'm just not sure who the main actors are. Like, I don't want to get all tinfoil hat but it does suit the West to demonise certain other parts of the world, in an attempt to justify their brutal 'foreign policy'.

As my late father said about the Tottenham riots a few years back, it’ll be over when it rains. He was right, and it’ll be the same with this.

Oh, I don't think it's coordinated but a natural alignment of certain types and right now a huge amount of crap is started online to cause upset and strife in western countries. It can be ANYTHING the bots will pick up as long as it's divisive as hell.

The mole to my mind will have latched onto something to do that type of attack, some noxious ideology he's found online and mainlined into his veins as an outlet for whatever ails him. It's so specific though, little girls, Taylor Swift music .... could be an Abedi fanboy for sure .. or could be the result of the most vicious, murderous incel-type misogyny that's rife online these days and young lads eat up like candy. Yes, it started as an alt right thing too, aligned to white nationalism ... but recently a absolute heap of black men have been launching themselves as Andrew Tate wannbes too in the hope of picking up someone of those sweet incel dollars. Misogyny sells right now. Or it could be something else entirely, some personal lunacy beyond any ideology. All I know is now it's happened, various elements will pick up and run with whatever interpretation suits their cause before the facts are in.

Trufax.

Nobody riots in winter, in the cold and damp. Lightweights. It's basically no different from Saturday night brawling for a lot of the, a leisure/male bonding activity.

Sorry, I am probably talking in riddles, but this, for example, suggests it is funded by the West and western interests, rather than Russian - https://www.timesofisrael.com/why-a...oosting-a-far-right-anti-muslim-uk-extremist/

I really dont get why people are protesting? Yes what he did was wrong but targeting a group of INNOCENT people for one person's wrong doing isn't how we should go about it. This isn't what them families would want thats lost there beautiful daughter. They would want peace and time to mourn the loss of there child.

It’s a recognised phenomenon about the link between rioting and good weather. Unfortunate that it looks fine all week.

have you seen the clip (state) of the people “protesting”? Scumbags of the lowest intelligence using this as an excuse for mindless violence since there’s no football on at the moment.

I find it sickening, you can hear how much they’re enjoying themselves. It’s nothing to do with those poor little girls or wanting to keep kids safe. It’s just them wanting an excuse to spew venom & violence. They’re going live on TikTok marching down the street in balaclavas acting ten men, absolute fools.

I do want to thank the police for how they’ve handled today. They have tried their hardest to protect the people of Southport from these opportunistic bleeps who are so fuelled by hatred, they don’t even realise the long standing effects they’ll have on the local community. They’ll be onto the next place to attack and unsettle soon because these people will never have respect for the victims or their families, they just want an excuse to be violent. The scenes today should’ve never happened, those girls should’ve had the vigil dedicated to them in the most peaceful and respectful manner and these vile excuse for human beings couldn’t even give them that.

These people will go wherever they can create mayhem - any and every excuse.

What should have never happened was the attack on these young girls and their teachers in the first place - and then these people wouldn't have had the excuse to tack themselves onto it to tarnish it.

I think the problem is that the police/media didn’t give any reports about the subject for over a day. Which led to the rumour mill. They could have stamped it down within a couple of hours by releasing a statement saying they didn’t suspect a Muslim.

And what if it had been a Muslim? Would any of this have been OK? Why on earth would anyone expect the police to let the public know the suspect's religion? Within 24 hours, no less.

I don’t think it would have been ok but my point was the fact they let the rumour mill decide it was a Muslim because they released nothing. I’ve no idea of the religion of the attacker now either, that isn’t the point. The point is they said it’s a local man, then it was a Welsh man then suddenly he was the son of Rwandan migrants. By that stage people were riled up. I don’t have an opinion about the guy’s religion as I have no idea what it is but the point is it didn’t get reported to get the conversation shut down early on.
