People have no bleeping patience and want information that police won't have instantly. It's utter stupidity.

Add in the murderer is under 18 and it's even more difficult for police to give out any personal info that they do have.

Police have to abide by legal procedures or risk any chance at further action and conviction in a court of law.

The problem these days is people jump to the court of social media and convict or conversely, declare someone innocent of all wrongdoing when they don't have the full picture, or often any real information at all.

The problem is though that the police have deliberately concealed identities of people and things have gone unreported so I can understand why people are annoyed. Were they right to go out rioting? Of course not. But they could have just said that they thought it was a minor and that would be the end of it.

It was reported by the authorities almost immediately that a male had been detained and that he was 17. Nothing more than that. They can’t also immediately go “and he was/was not brown and he was/was not Muslim” - do you realise the backlash that would also cause? Especially if it turned out not to be correct. Within hours there was false information and a false name being spread online which is what fuelled THIS race-fuelled rioting. That’s the people of this country’s doing, not the police. It’s nothing more than a repugnant desire to be vindicated and an attempt to politicise a tragedy to suit an agenda of racial profile. People are bleeping weird.

It’s a recognised phenomenon about the link between rioting and good weather. Unfortunate that it looks fine all week.
Bring in the water cannons and ‘let it rain’.

I think the problem is that the police/media didn’t give any reports about the subject for over a day. Which led to the rumour mill. They could have stamped it down within a couple of hours by releasing a statement saying they didn’t suspect a Muslim.
While I get your point, I don’t think the police’s priority would be letting the public know in terms of the subjects ethnicity. They said it wasn’t terror related and no other suspects were being looked for. They even released gender and age. If they had come out straight away and said ‘it’s not a Muslim’ there would have been uproar they have mentioned that and been accused of being racist.

They literally cannot win whatever they do.

These absolute pond life are a stain on our society . Thick ignorant racist thugs, who couldn’t care less about the murder of these children.

They were obviously out for a night of pissed up thuggery!

I’ve lived in Liverpool all my life and moved a 15 minute drive from where this tragedy took place just last month, I have never in my life been more ashamed of Merseyside. The fact that 3 beautiful children have died is an after thought for all these racist scumbags who wanted an excuse to go out and do what they’ve done. The amount of them I’ve seen on social media and heard in the street the past 2 days is vile. Imagine holding a vigil for all those who have been involved to then turn it into riots asif the area hasn’t gone through enough heartbreak and upset. Absolute animals

I don’t think it would have been ok but my point was the fact they let the rumour mill decide it was a Muslim because they released nothing. I’ve no idea of the religion of the attacker now either, that isn’t the point. The point is they said it’s a local man, then it was a Welsh man then suddenly he was the son of Rwandan migrants. By that stage people were riled up. I don’t have an opinion about the guy’s religion as I have no idea what it is but the point is it didn’t get reported to get the conversation shut down early on.
But how should they have described him? My parents are Australian immigrants who had me shortly after arriving, but I’d describe myself as English. To say anything else would be racist, surely?

Why did nobody riot or protest when Lucy Letby was convicted of killing all those innocent babies? One whiff that this is potentially someone who isn't white British and it causes this. I feel so sorry for the families trying to grieve and who are hurting so deeply, and now their streets are full of this tit.

Same here, Irish parents but I describe myself as English. Well, I am English.

My guess is he is probably an incel. I work with children as young as ten (Year 5s) who idolise Andrew Tate. Obviously that is just my assumption, however, I don't think the thugs would be interested in that narrative.

I seen a news article shared yesterday that is now hidden that linked as the killers dad. A man who moved here in 2002 making the killer a british citizen. The article was the dad at a martial arts club, a catholic who works full time here and probably pays more tax then half the scrotes out in the streets drinking cans of lager smashing up police vans. That won’t matter to them, they’ll look at the colour of the skin and automatically run with the fact he’s ‘been brought over on a boat’. This is about getting justice for them poor kids and the others who are still in critical conditions in hospital, what are they achieving by taking 22 police officers off the street and causing so much damage to the area over false information they’ve heard off bleeping Tommy Robinson

The police haven’t done anything wrong, there are very strict laws about what can be said about criminals or suspected criminals under 18 years old and the police have to follow these laws. They can’t just come out and start saying stuff to prevent morons from jumping to conclusions and rioting!!!

Just to note, the false identity being bandied around within a short time emerged from a US website. There are a lot of seriously dubious elements, both angry politicised individuals, fringe political actors/grifters and hostile foreign states (Russia, for one) whose state media and bot farms will signal boost anything that boosts a certain narrative - in this case, that the gaping mole who murdered three little girls was a Muslim doing jihad (which entirely remains to be seen) - or that causes division in some way within western societies. It's been the way since Soviet times - boost and fund ANYTHING that causes strife here, no matter the political alignment.

The small element out causing trouble in Southport are the same who boost Kremlin narratives about all sorts of things too - including Ukraine. The US and European hard/alt right is Kremlin aligned either for funding or through general stupidity.

My other thought is oh, god, the police van tipped and on fire, it's the Leeds nonsense all over again - a pattern is starting to emerge. Of course, it's summer - UK always reaches peak unrest in the summer months when there's more light and it's waarm enough to hang about outside and start stupid tit ... oh, and school holidays mean there are more than the usual number of useless dumbfucks ready to start trouble.
Agree with all of this except Times Radio on twitter say the name started in Russia

If the police stated an ethnicity for the 17 year old (or any other accused person) it would be seen as an official dog whistle by the knuckle-draggers.

Not normally a defender of the police, but they were absolutely under attack last night from these dickheads. They didn’t seem to have the kit to defend themselves sufficiently, and I felt sorry for them!
I hope these dumb ducks out rioting are identified by their employers and sacked!

It'll take a while to go through camera footage but I've no doubt the majority of them will be tracked down and charged over the next few weeks. Especially if they arrived by train.

I’m sure the police had intel regarding the EDL’s intentions and released the small details they could to try and reduce the tension.
Not likely to work as events over the last few weeks have riled this particular brand of thug to fever pitch, with this heartbreaking tragedy the final, but very misguided, catalyst.

I'm a strong advocate of deploying a water cannon on these racist mutants when they kick.off.
