Not normally a defender of the police, but they were absolutely under attack last night from these dickheads. They didn’t seem to have the kit to defend themselves sufficiently, and I felt sorry for them!
I hope these dumb fucks out rioting are identified by their employers and sacked!

why didn’t the police go in with batons, dogs etc in leeds? They stood back and let it happen bus and car burnt out but they were a soft touch and did nothing . In fact they ran away …

Like I keep saying, it's not just the "far right" that is being manipulative in this. I wish people would wake up to it. I have been told to go kill myself by lefties more than I ever have by any right winger. I also have experienced more damaging misogyny online too from them. Right wingers just tell you to go back to the kitchen, I can handle that and laugh it off, those on the "left" tend to be a lot more demoralising and dehumanising. Just look at the comments on this very thread, one especially using the threat of male violence to get a person they didn't agree with to shut up.

It also didn't escape my notice that I was the only person to call it out.

The "far left" is every bit as abusive as the "far right" and every bit as capable of drumming up hate and violence.

Also, I don't remember seeing anyone on the "far left" looting shops, beating people up and setting fire to cars.

Just to note, the false identity being bandied around within a short time emerged from a US website. There are a lot of seriously dubious elements, both angry politicised individuals, fringe political actors/grifters and hostile foreign states (Russia, for one) whose state media and bot farms will signal boost anything that boosts a certain narrative - in this case, that the gaping anus who murdered three little girls was a Muslim doing jihad (which entirely remains to be seen) - or that causes division in some way within western societies. It's been the way since Soviet times - boost and fund ANYTHING that causes strife here, no matter the political alignment.

The small element out causing trouble in Southport are the same who boost Kremlin narratives about all sorts of things too - including Ukraine. The US and European hard/alt right is Kremlin aligned either for funding or through general stupidity.

My other thought is oh, god, the police van tipped and on fire, it's the Leeds nonsense all over again - a pattern is starting to emerge. Of course, it's summer - UK always reaches peak unrest in the summer months when there's more light and it's waarm enough to hang about outside and start stupid shit ... oh, and school holidays mean there are more than the usual number of useless dumbfucks ready to start trouble.

As my late father said about the Tottenham riots a few years back, it’ll be over when it rains. He was right, and it’ll be the same with this.

This makes me think they have evacuated everyone (hopefully) and they’re taking the approach to leave them to destroy the building (which isn’t right) rather than fighting back and it turning into a violent clash where police/rioters will get harmed. I don’t know how long they’ll allow it to go on this way until they do push back though…

A police station has been set on fire in Sunderland. What is their point? Destroy the police infrastructure and make police officers leave in droves the profession? That won't make the UK safer. It is as if they are trying to create a political crisis.

Terms such as fascist, narcissist, racist, complex PTSD, far right etc are being used inappropriately and incorrectly, daily.

We should be able to challenge political decisions which affect our lives without being labelled or placed in boxes.

A problem is that many people do not have a clue how the political system functions in this country, how to bring attention to an issue with either the civil servants or the MPs, councillors etc, how to offer potential solutions or get support to do so.

So, people seek to do so in a way that gets press attention. Over which there is zero control because our media and press have their own agendas (advertisers mainly) and, just like the police have suffered huge budget cuts, lack of training, and so on.

I am not far right nor racist. However, if the basic infrastructure of a country is struggling, or girls are being groomed and raped, or knife attacks are on the increase, or mental health crises are going unmonitored, you should be allowed to drill down and start to find the causes so you can treat the problems, without being labelled at all.

After all, how are we going to solve what is wrong if we do not know what is causing it because we aren't allowed to talk about it, for fear of upsetting somebody?

It’s a shocking mess this country is in.

Part of the issue is 2 tier policing …Martin Daubney from GB news was arrested for taking photos of the police/crowds yesterday they let him go when he told them he was a journalist and a few police recognised him.

he said the police were v heavy handed kettled people in and had full on riot gear…

Contrast to the Palestine protests which he also covered and he said police wouldn’t arrest anyone even when chanting anti Jewish slogans, making threats with their faces covered and projecting on to Big Ben …

He said it’s a polar opposite how they dealt with the protests…and he has been at both as a journalist.

Likewise in Leeds police backed off and drove off in their police vans …

it needs addressing and is being mentioned continuously…it is adding to the problems of which there are many …this is adding fuel to the fire and people have had enough

Is this going to be the new "not all men?". I hate when people centre themselves in the middle of a tragedy like this. It's pretty obvious that no one is blaming him being autistic for him going on to murder children. They are simply reporting fact.

Depending on how much being autistic impacts him it will affect his trial. In the case of Brianna didn't they have to have "reasonable accommodations" for the murderous shit boy to make sure the trial was considered legal and fair??

I have many thoughts about the symbolism and the rhetoric around all of this too:
A) The British flags being flown by mostly white men at these protests. What message is that sending to anyone who is British but not white?

B) Britain is obviously one of the few countries that has the value to not murder people

The ones who keep saying this is a Christian country piss me off. Just because you eat Christmas dinner and Easter eggs doesn’t make you a Christian. I would love to know what their favourite Christian quotes are when they are trying to burn down a mosque.

Just been watching someone live in Liverpool and people have brought their kids along, they’re showing babies in prams literal newborns and in the same breath saying stuffs being thrown at them Why the fuck expose your kids to something like that, have kids not just lost their lives?? I understand why people need to demonize someone guilty of something so terrific. It's a human way to cope with the idea that those kind of things happen. But it doesn't help to prevent other mass murders to happen. By demonizing someone people are comforted in the idea that they have nothing to do with someone like him. I strongly believe murderers are a product of society. They don't come from nowhere. We can only address those kind of crimes if we try to understand what has happened. What were the missing safeguardings?

This teenager used a knife for his crimes but the method is not that different than shooters targetting kids in schools in the USA. They all have a similar profile: young men that are often isolated and introverted. Why is this happening more and more? Why suddenly young men decide to plot the murder of young children/strangers? Their ethinicity doesn't seem to matter much as there no link has been found but somehow people want to focus on this. I guess it's because people need to be able to say it's not one of us. It has nothing to do with us. I don't agree. Those mass murders are the symptoms of something going wrong in the fabric of our society.

Another point I think is important to discuss is why are we more horrified by this tragedy than by the fact that every few days a woman is murdered by their partner. Hundreds of women are victim of feminicide every year in the UK. But I don't see rioters in the street or far right wing activists being outraged by this. We live in a culture where women and other vulnerable people are fair game and not much is done to change this.

As for for revealing the identity of the criminal I am a bit unsure what's best to do. I remember that a few years ago when there was a wave of terrorist attacks in France, it was suggested that those terrorists were enjoying to have their names in the medias, to get some "fame". French medias then toned down to not give them this. We should investigate the profile of mass murderers and if they enjoy being "famous" we should take away that from them.

They are probably not using an adult photo because people still watch the news, read papers etc in prison. He would be a sitting target. And im not saying protect him, but the prisons service is underfunded. If he died it’s an investigation, maybe a closure and the family would no doubt sue for what happened, even if they are mad at what he did to those kids…… the media are at times sensible in what they share.

If they can’t print a photo of him as a 17 year old - don’t print one at all.
