Ah but you have to remember this is 'just a gossip forum' and as such we only have to come up with simplistic ideas about what we 'want', without any thought to whether it's even possible let alone any consideration of how it would work, what the consequences might be, acknowledgement of the current situation and definitely no attempt at understanding the complexities or nuances of the situation. After all it's not our job to come up with policies and solutions. We just bleat about things we don't like and it's up to the government to make them go away. And there's always the threat of more riots to keep their minds on the job.

Yeh, we should possibly do away with democracy altogether, or obviously exclude the numpties who don’t agree with some.
Shall we have a referendum to decide the criteria for who’s too thick and disagreeable to vote? How will we word that one?

You do realise referendums aren't the only form of democracy.

Honestly it's like us saying a surgeon is best placed to perform an operation and you turning around and saying "do you think a random member of the public is too thick to do it? Maybe we shouldn't operate on anyone ever if a member of the public can't rock up to perform a surgical procedure."

Is direct democracy always a good idea when the majority of people are ill informed about the issues they're voting on?

I know people who voted for Brexit because they didn't like the ECHR .

I think direct democracy is a bad idea and we shouldn't be asking the general population to vote on things they have absolutely no idea on.

I don’t think you can be responsible for what other people are informed on, people vote for whatever reasons they wish to or for whatever they believe in and that is a benefit of living somewhere that allows you that privilege.

Voting is not a skill, there are smart people who have awful political views, just like there are thick people who do.
