I'm very disappointed in Sir Keir for going on holiday. It's the type of thing Boris would have done but I expected more from Sir Keir.

Starmer hasn't gone on holiday and Downing Street says that he isn't going in at least the next few days. He's at Chequers and yesterday he held a meeting including the deputy PM, home secretary, justice secretary and policing minister.


It was Cameron and Johnson who (initially at least) refused to cut short their holidays during the 2011 riots and only did so in the end when Theresa May made such a mess of dealing with the situation.

The Army is not equipped to provide policing of criminality, wouldn't want to even try and it would be a gift to everyone from Reform through to 'Right Said Fred' who are claiming that the riots are a 'false flag' to support the introduction of martial law at the behest of the WEF and Klaus Schwab.

I would rather poke my eyes out with hot knives than read it but the amount of made up bull I hear people spouting that do read it is unbelievable, so yes, I believe that the rioters bought into the propaganda too.

I couldn't find the tweet I really wanted to share but it was an example of the over saturation of how all immigration is bad and all immigrants are evil that has flooded all our media over the past few years which goes a long way to explain these riots are happening. The fact that immigration has been over simplified to all immigrants = bad is whats ridiculous

What do you think would be the impact on the infrastructure if we stopped immigration? As I said before the issue is 50 years of people being told (and being stupid enough to believe) that immigration is the reason why working class areas are deprived and that immigration is 'unchecked'.

So what is the best course of action? The police look totally overwhelmed, I'm not sure how much more they can do. Maybe the army would scare them off?? Or equally it could cause things to explode even further!

It's just been 4 days and I think it's a miracle no one has been killed so far but at the same time people have been absolutely terrorised, communities destroyed, someone being killed isn't the only bad thing that can happen.

I'm just at a loss as to what should be done. Surely the answer isn't just to let them have at it.

Let racist bleeps know that they are tacitly approved by the government in power (which is what the Tories did, pandering to them) and they only become more emboldened.

They must be called out at every opportunity. As we can see in general and of course from some dubious "characters" on here, they really don't like it when that happens.

I've just been reading the Wikipedia article about the 2011 riots. If it's anything like that this time, we've got a way to go. As I recall there was little that could be done to stop the rioting. It just petered out. We need it to start raining.
