Has anyone done an Extreme Day Trip away?

Basically get the first flight out and last flight back.

I'm thinking of doing it to Stockholm, as it is so expensive!

I would do the Hop On Hop Off bus tour, and a cruise and a nice lunch!

They’re lovely but bear in mind none of them have an airport. We did Skopelos and it was a ball ache by boat.

Yep. Palma, Bordeaux, Brussels, Edinburgh (many times!).

Me, highly recommend if you live close enough to an airport.
I'm considering an extreme night trip. Flight out afternoon, nightlife then back next morning, no accommodation.

Yep a few times. Palma. Barcelona. Brussels etc.

I won't lie it is absolutely exhausting but I've always enjoyed them. I did the hop on/off in Barcelona and a walking tour aswell. Had a really lovely day. Lots of cities have lockers centrally aswell to store valuables which helps.

I want to do a trip Helsinki, Tallinn and down to Vilanus (sp?) But it's awkward with flights.

If someone wants an easy, safe place to travel in Eurpoe Maderia is nice. Generally good weather. No beaches really but most hotels have a pool. Easy buses and plenty of taxis. Enough to keep you as busy as you want. Can do levada walks, nice gardens, cable cars, the taboggans (soooooo fun). Tours to other parts of the island. CR7 museum if you are into football and you can see his house (a former hotel) really not far from the museum.

December 2024 I did Tallinn and Helsinki, 4 nights, 2 in each with the ferry in-between. Absolutely loved Tallinn, it snowed heavily when I was there. I'm not a christmas market fan but the one in Tallinn is charming, small but set in the square in front of the town hall with christmas tree in the middle. Plenty of people milling about it but not at all crowded. I'm actually going back this year. Flying Luton to Vilnius for a few nights then coaching it back up to Tallinn for a couple of nights. Ferry to Helsinki and direct flight to Manchester from there xx

Oh yes! Very good. I'm a native Londoner and I still use it in my home town.

Cirymappwr is great, in London tracks train times etc perfectly and much more accurate than TFL journey planner. I used it recently when I was in Sweden and was good there too

Oddly, they pull their data from the TfL servers!

That's bizarre! I find tfl journey planner gives really bad recommendations a lot of thr time! It also doesn't update about issues as quickly as citymapper seems to

Citymapper is indeed fab, I use it here in London and it has also worked when I've been in Seoul and Tokyo.
