Anyone found out yet why Gemma.b slimming never loses weight? She said she was going to weigh in / check in last weekend and she’s not posted anything. How can you work out that much, eat 2000 calories a day but NOT lose any weight? None of it makes sense. I eat 1600 and don’t exercise and I’m losing so she’s either lying - or buggered 😂
i don’t see why she continues to track everything, she eats the same tit everyday and walks 15k steps (unless she just puts her watch on a dog lol - imagine!!)

I just wanted to say to those who feel like their head is in a spinner over SW v CC - trust yourself to calorie count. Yes I have days where I use my calories for junk, but I take a moment to notice why (eg, crap mood, husband annoying, it's raining, etc) and to notice how it makes me feel, and then carry on eating pretty healthily thereafter. I find myself feeling really sorry for those SW target members who are struggling and not enjoying life because they are so constrained by the plan and cannot trust themselves with CC - It has taken me probably three months of "staying the same" to get my head sorted, to learn to enjoy food again without any kind of anger, guilt, or general misery. That said, I still attend a weekly SW class as I literally have little else company wise, me time wise. Which is a trifle sad but nevermind! Please, just keep at it and take the time needed to trust yourself. I speak as an SW follower of a good 20 years!
This is a great post! Lots of soul searching and I was the same. It took so long for it all to click in my head. To get cheat days and days off and food treats out of my head. I actually cringe now hearing the word cheat meal or 'off plan'

Or seeing people punishing themselves, having a mountain of salad cause they 'had a bad weekend' not because they want to eat salad.

It is so easily done, even up to a few weeks ago I was doubting myself so much and even thinking "I can eat that on Slimming World" for unlimited pasta, and other ridiculous things. I think the thing to remember is that those who have the best long lasting success on SW are those who are limiting their portion sizes so as not to over eat or eat for the sake of it, those who cut out processed rubbish, and just eat healthy natural food - which can also be achieved via calorie counting, but heck yes I am also going to eat chocolate when I want to! I lost 3 stone via CC but allowed myself to get confused and in a muddle with SW, all because I just did not trust myself.

This!
I hit my personal target with SW back in March 2019 but this last lockdown I have struggled and lost my way with the plan.
I swapped to CC 2 weeks ago and said I’ll give it a month with my husband who’s doing amazing and loving it.
I must admit I’m really enjoying it and never thought I’d leave SW as it’s what I’ve done most of my adult life but I feel free and excited about food again and shopping is more fun and liberating too.
I’m weighing in at home on Sunday mornings and taking measurements as well as I go to the gym a lot and now trying to incorporate some weights into mainly wha5 was cardio for me.
I feel SW has brilliant basic principals but is a bit outdated now, especially the meetings which remind me of Little Britain show.

I remember an account years ago I really enjoyed, something like SWfifi, she was from Belfast I think. She disappeared from insta, though.
I used follow fiona too she had a little girl and seemed lovely.
She just disappeared.
Get and gem x and spanshee used like.

Never liked fopperholic or slimming world jsg or the Wright couple.

My experience at sw been pretty mixed .

10 years ago 1st joined after having my 3rd baby.
Was lovely group mostly old biddies.
The consultant was slightly overweight she could be witchy and blunt but never with me I used take my toddler and new born along 20 month gap was insane and it was next to oldest primary school time and location suited.
This i think was when they just introduced extra easy still had red and green plan.
I was breastfeeding so had extra hex a and hex b which made it bearable.
The old biddies used talk about their cruises and make fuss of my kids.
I was quite lonely and tired back then I enjoyed the company.
I lost 2 stone.

Anyway I guess when son was reception 5 years later we moved suburb live in city so many groups I joined a very busy sw group like 50 and consultant ran w back to back as well as another day.
Well it was totally different sometimes entertaining sometime scary.
The sob stories and tears when consultant asked people justify their poor weightless maintain or gain.
The uproar about bloody porky light sausages.
Anything that was free suddenly synned not sure if was mug shots or muller lights that caused uproar.
Occasionally I couldn't make one class so tried 2 others where consultants were younger and slimmer and they seemed better.
Our group was so big took forever get around.
I had to quit as completely screwed with my mental health.
I wasent losing much think lost less than stone 2nd time around.
The consultant looking back was pretty witchy and ruthless.
I would start fasting from tea time morning before class.
Not have anything drink take laxatives.
The toiliets were pretty full in hall just before weigh in so maybe others did the same.

Exercise aka body magic was frowned upon and the same old mantra well execrise puts on muscle which puts on lb which might be true if you competitive athlete not Brenda speed walking around the park.
1st time round I got quite into jogging.

Ask consultant help nothing tastes a as good as slim feels. You have try harder if you want it. Eat more speed have a sp day.
I think I got frustrated 2nd time round things I liked were demonised like peanut butter or cereal.

I don't miss Hifi I hate alpen lite and fibre 1 bars. Some ib group were typical bingers they would go mad certain products.
Scan bran cake grim.
Anyone used hate tasting buffet where you brought random things.
I did home made ferreo Roche with toast and choc was odd.
I hated quark.

looking back 1st time round was ok lovely group slightly crap consultant.
most old biddies used it as socal club and were clearly overweight for years.
seemed less commercial then.

2nd time round awful group. Horrible consultant. Also at time was following lots sw huns.

Anyone cringe when saw sw ball pics at Princess towers.
If they made magazine they were celebs.
Miss slinky or man of the year at group felt like popularity contest.

After sw couple years later joined we.
Consultant still large spent ages slagging off sw which was practically opposite.
I just couldn't get into points I always felt hungry.
My heart wasn't in it I quit.

These days im calorie counting slowly losing which due to sw past I keep thinking its not enough.
Only 1 sw insta hun I still follow who bless her failed at sw so many times after a big loss is calorie counting and doing well.

I think if you live off frozen food, ready meals or takeaways it can help some.
Big portion sizes fake foods and binge syns is issue.
But im a good cook i can cook lovely meals from scratch quite healthy.
Booze and snacks my downfall.

I am trying to encourage my son to join my daughter and I to slimming world groups when they reopen. He’s put on 13lbs over lockdown he says. I told him to follow Vidler_jon, snaresky lad and the free food fan page. I am not sure of other good ones who follow the slimming world plan effectively. Those guys are large accounts with their own views. I am keen to get others to follow
Worst thing my mum ever did was to take me to a slimming world group. She meant well of course but it totally ducked up my health and the statistics literallt show that almost everyone will gain what the lose (and more!) have a look at sustainable weight loss to help your son and don’t get him started on a diet otherwise he will be in that cycle that it seems every slimming world account is at the moment (lost loads and all gained back.. beingbrittany, swfeebs etc) x

I have a bit of a SW v CC with myself atm.

mom nervous to “take that leap” with CC if that makes sense and really nervous to try something new.. anyone that can give me advice with this?
I don’t want to just go back to SW again as I don’t stick to it longer than a week and it causes me to binge massively which I’ve never had before starting SW..

2 weeks tomorrow for me since I jumped on calorie counting and I’m loving it.
Still mainly eating from scratch as I’m grateful to SW for that and I enjoy eating healthy but I feel excited over food again and not restricted.
Eating everything I love including houmous, nuts, peanuts, avocado, brioche buns - all this on SW I’d feel guilty or restricted or have had to use a HEB or syn it.
Honestly I’m gutted make the switch sooner

Ultimately you need to make the decision for you. There are no rules with CC, you learn pretty quickly if you use your calories only for chocolate youre starving.

What makes you nervous? I can try to help. For me the benefits are being able to eat normally if I want to have cereal or porridge for breakfast and then a sandwich I can.

I find for breakfast and lunch I eat v similar things really so once Ive tracked them and got them in to Nutracheck its less time consuming over time to track. Also once youve been doing it you will get a feel for what fills you up / what meals work best for you.

I had a great day nutrition wise yesterday and I woke up and didnt feel hungry at all today but other days where I know Ive not made the best nutritional choices I can see that Im hungrier.

The basic principles of SW can be applied, have veg or salad with your meal when you can as veg and salad are a high volume low cal food.

It can take time to get your head around calories and not either being over your cals or really under at the end of the day. Initially when I first started I was still v much in the SW frame of mind and wouldnt want to use cals on things like butter or oil or salad dressing so would find myself with loads of cals left at night but Ive got myself into a good pattern now aiming for around 300 cals at breakfast 400 - 500 cals at lunch and it leaves me around 850-900 for dinner, snacks, milk. This works for me perfectly but youl get to know your own body, when you feel hungrier, what type of meals you have and how they correlate to calories etc.

Youre welcome 🥰 I will say for me the weight loss is slower calorie counting but Im losing actual large. I lost weight every week at SW because I would starve myself before weigh in. My eating was absolutely disordered.

Now that no food is off limits I dont want it as badly. I can have 1 chocolate bar and be satisifed. With SW Id eat the whole pack cause Id have been over my syns by 2 so have the duck it attitude. Whereas now even if I do go over my daily cals I have the knowledge to know its the end of the world. I dont purge the next day I just carry on. Knowing that to truly gain 1 lb of large you need to be in a calorie surplus of 3500, I know that its not possible to truly gain weight if I do go over my cals a little.

Hey, you should definitely join us on the weight loss and healthy living thread, quite a few of us are calorie counting on there 😊 I’ve found it a great source of advice and support!
