I was wondering what people’s thoughts are on hifi bars. I want to know if people like them, I have missed them and wondered if anyone can suggest alternatives?
They are selling them in Iceland shops.

I prefer them over Alpen but preffered the Special K bars you could have as a B choice.

I like them but certain ones give me a banging headache cos of the sweeteners and stuff in them. Been ages since I’ve had them but the carrot cake and lemon drizzle ones were bad for it. Everyone is different though I just react badly to things sometimes. I like the Fibre One popcorn bars which I think are still a Healthy extra? Not really been having them since I’ve been home all the time!
A big thank you for the suggestions. I’ve added them to my shopping list.

The first slimming world group we attended the consultant was always complaining about money and how much pressure slimming world out on her. For the family holidays in 2017 onwards we joined a different group and there was a huge difference. The consultant was friendly and very knowledgeable she like ones mentioned on here warned people away from the sweetener based treats and try and include syns on more flavoursome food. When the kids were at home, as soon as a pack of biscuits were open they would be gone so I understand what the consultants mean.
The good consultants make slimming world either a great experience or a bad one. The members set the atmosphere. I remember a young lady called Sally who said she was always really on plan, everything made in batches and meals set for the week. My old counselling offices for a contract were above a Subway sandwich shop and I saw her there almost every lunchtime. Every slimming world member has a member that stretches the truth but some of the Instagram slimmers are really dishonest and I don’t know why the feel the need to be dishonest and have these large ego’s.

Anyone seen these on Instagram...?! They post stuff like this and claim it’s slimming world. Really annoys me!! Also they deliberately do “sharer” meals or have food for 2 on the same board to give the illusion of even more food. Really pisses me off!
Aye I mentioned them up thread! Beige beige beige and they try and make it look posh by slapping it on a plank of wood 😂

Need carbs tonight so having wholemeal pasta with mushrooms and a creamy sauce made with garlic, thyme, stock and a bit of Philly lightest. Gonna work out 2 syns per portion. Will have half my bowl full with broccoli on the side sprinkled with a tbsp of parmesan 😊

ETA I hate seeing huge double burgers in the name of SW. There is just no need, one will fill you up!

Been following this thread with interest. I used to do slimming world and lost a sizeable amount but then got pregnant and piled it all back on last year with the stress of being a first time mum in a pandemic. Agree with others here who say the plan isn’t bad and these Instagram accounts are misrepresenting the plan. I have thought about going back to a group when they’re allowed but I’d probably have to take my kid with me and don’t really want to expose her to diet culture this young. Currently going the calorie counting route too.

Enjoyed reading all your posts and hearing your good and bad experiences. Personally I’ve lost weight years ago with slimming world but I put it back on again (and more) when I stopped. Back then I went to group every now and again but I found the group way to cliquey and I was always sat on my own (lol). The consultant never pressured me but tbh she hardly ever bothered with me. I lost 3 stone in total and put it allll back on again. I started following it again in august last year but at home and I really stuck to it, lost a stone and started following all these big SW insta accounts. They provided me with a lot of inspo and tbh it kept me on track because I was giddy that I could eat all that tasty food and humongous portions and still lose weight. I counted every syn and piled my plate with ‘free foods’ and started to get disheartened when I just wasn’t losing. I was maintaining and sometimes even gaining. I couldn’t understand, I was following the plan and was eating the same portion size as these insta accounts. I went to the doctors to have my thyroid checked, that turned out fine. So it’s took me to read this thread to realise that the reason I’m not losing is because I’m basing all of my foods on what the SW accounts eat and their portion size. I’m kicking myself over it and feel like a proper dafty. So today I’m going back to basics and I’m going to weigh my free foods to stop me from overeating. No more biscoff spread and all of these low syn puddings that these accounts claim to lose weight on.

i think a lot of it comes down to that a fare few of them are probably at their maintain stage now but that doesn't come across to people that follow them, ie. they don't share that they are in the maintain stage, they overemphasise how low syn something is but it's overloaded with sugar/carbs making the calories quite high and there's barely any speed which we know is a vital component of a sw loss.

they are pushing how tasty all these recipes are, then we get disheartened when we follow their recipes and aren't losing the weight we thought we would

Welcome to the thread and don’t feel like a dafty! Your story proves that the big SW threads have a lot to answer for. They fool people into believing that their warped version of SW will work. They know that a mountain of chips or a sugary bowl of baked oats with biscoff spread will get likes, not an honest healthy meal which actually follows the principles of the diet. It makes me laugh that they are now all calorie counting, like sheep all copying each other.
I’m glad you have realised the truth about the big accounts, although not every SW instagram is bad. There are some with smaller followings who are helpful! I’ll try and find a few for you x

If you could post any helpful ig accounts please?!
I have dipped in and out SW myself and I’m on the road back to doing it all again, I tried after having my little one and out sooo much pressure on myself that I knew I was down to 9st (waaaay before I had my little one) but still wasn’t happy.
I know now looking bad that’s never gonna happen and in fact when I was starting out at 11st 4lb after my little one was born, that was actually my happy weight where I could enjoy life knowing I was doing it very healthy.

I agree the insta pages are appalling and I hate most of them, the skinny syrup etc, sauces, seasonings etc make me feel ill with how vile they look.. I think SW is a good plan IF you follow it correctly, personally I know it’s just healthier eating but for me I like the accountability and my consultant is absolutely wonderful..

Weight loss without the ego is something I love to see! You have done very well. You should maybe have a look at providing tips of how to keep an ego in check after such amazing weight loss.

Ah that’s kind, thank you! It’s so true, it’s almost like click bait when you think of. People see nice food and well presented and they’ll click on it. I do follow some smaller accounts who are good and just make standard lower cal meals. When I first followed SW in 2014 there were no such thing as these accounts! X

I don’t use Instagram an awful lot for weight loss advice as I find some of the bragging members patronising or egotistic.

Vidlerjon seemed to be quite stable with a nice weight loss.I am sorry for not knowing his full Instagram name. There was a nice account by Jessica who had lost a lot of weight and was very honest with what she shared. I can’t remember her name or if she is around.

My pet hate account was Big Ben to slim Ben for his awful ego and also markrsmith99 my daughter followed him but find he is always showing off.

Should call herself “essentially.diabetes”
That’s appalling 😂😂
Please can you stop using terms like that please. It is incredibly offensive. You wouldn't say to someone with lung cancer a joke about cigarettes so please stop. Sugar doesn't cause diabetes. There is a whole thread about this. Not just aimed at you, I have seen others post about this today.

I hate these ‘influencers’ sharing their breakfast baked oats with a tit tonne of chocolate on top claiming its healthy and pushing bloody protein world porridge oats.
