That's interesting!
I also ticked the box about ED.
However I wasn't aware they wouldn't allow you to join if so (makes sense obviously)
But nothing was ever said to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ wasn't even asked about it 🤔
You're the first person I've actually seen mention this!
I’ve just checked the website and see they’ve now removed their statement about eating disorders. I can’t find it anywhere!
bottom line is they’re a business and they will never turn away income even if it means putting someone’s health at risk.

Interesting!
It's been a little while since I joined, nearly 5 years since I joined.
Wonder if it's still on the joining forms!

Crikey. No wonder she lost 5 stone in 4 months if dinner is about 100 kcals
She quite clearly has developed an eating disorder, it’s disgraceful that SW are encouraging this. Mushrooms and egg for dinner, watering down skimmed milk and not having a coffee and diet coke on the same day are huge red flags, as well as the 5 stone in 4 months obviously. Her posts also read to me like she might have some sort of communication difficulty (I might be wrong but if you read her posts they definitely don’t make 100% sense) so if she’s a vulnerable type of person that’s even worse. Her consultant can clearly see her social media so she should be accountable too.

Just seen this on her stories. Slimming World is a tit show, promoting eating disorders is a new low. I’m embarrassed I ever put money into their crappy business.

I wonder if anyone has contacted her to ask her if she's OK? It's disgusting how they virtually egg them on!

No way, SlimmingWorld would never do that! They just see her as a great advertisement for their business. Fast weight losses sell!

I didn't mean slimming world contacting her, I meant someone on instagram etc. But I agree sw wouldn’t because they would have to admit that there was a problem 😏

Hello, new to this thread. Just wondering, of the people on this thread, what is your opinion on SW? I've been a member on and off for years and I'm heavier now than I've ever been. Haven't been to SW since February. In your opinion, does it work? Is it a big money scam? Would you swear by it? Why did you leave?
I also think it's interesting that a few leaders left it and never mentioned it again, would love to know their thoughts on it now looking back.
I'm contemplating rejoining for the umpteenth time but should I just try something else?

It works if you stick to it…for ever and ever and ever! You’ve just said yourself you’re now heavier than ever. Why is that? Is it because when you’re “on plan” you feel restricted?
The only positive I gained from over 3 years of SlimmingWorld was learning how to cook meals from scratch. I recommend just calorie counting using Nutracheck! It’s easy, and you can eat when you want (in moderation of course) x

It's a waste of money tbh.
All they care about is your money. It works because if you do it properly, you end up in a calorie deficit.
That's it.
There's no magic behind it.

It isn't good for relationships with food.
Labelling foods bad and good. Synning foods that are good for you, like avacados.

As mentioned previously on here, you can have a slimming world version of a big mac for minimal syns/no syns. Yet it's more calories than an actual big mac which is 20 syns or whatever.

They don't encourage exercise really either.

Calorie counting would save you a lot of money. And easy to do on the apps. Tdee calculator will give you the amount you need daily 😊

As other have said it only works if you do it 100% but also you have to be mindful on the portions of free foods. But even though you see the plan and think wow I can eat all thos food free it kinda messes your head up when it comes to having oats and bread (sw bread allowance isnt bread in my opinion) in the same day. Or seeing food as syn vs free. No food should be seen as good or bad IMO. And ad others have said doing a fake away for free syns can be more calorific then the actual thing you wanted in the first place.
The only 2 thing s I like it for is encouraging cooking from scratch and pushing the fruits and veggies per meal for volume and lower cals.

If I were you, dont go back, track your cals and macros and enjoy life instead of feeling restricted on a plan that messes with heads big time

Yes I learned a few recipes actually that's about it!!! I remember I'd be on plan til weigh day, get weighed and for the rest of that day completely binge eat as a treat for being restricted all week. Then the next day straight back on plan.

Yes they never really promoted exercise which was a red flag. Making lasagne with quark instead of the real sauce I always thought life was too short for all those tweaks etc.

My problem is I've no self discipline which is why I think I kept going back, to be accountable, to know I'd be getting weighed and to aim for a loss. But I know a few who lost loads of weight and it's all back on now so what's the point in even going to SW.

I don't know many people that have lost weight on it and kept it all off.
I lost 10 stone and have gained almost 4 back. Because you have to stick to it forever really.
I much prefer calorie counting.
But my relationship with food is awful and was made worse joining SW

The consultants very rarely keep the weight off. That tells you a lot! You shouldn't feel stressed or pressured about making food choices. If SW makes you feel like that then I'd say avoid it and find another solution

Every one I can think of in real life or from social media who has kept the weight off after losing it at SW is either now calorie/ macro counting, obsessed with exercise or basically has an eating disorder and that’s how they keep their weight in check. The fact so many people keep having to rejoin speaks volumes.

Anyone follow shaun_fat_to_fit ?? Now I’m not one for criticising the occasional typo or spelling mistake but his posts look like they’re written by a 2 year old

I became genuinely afraid to eat bread/porridge for breakfast.. because what if I fancied a roll with my dinner 🙈🙈 I now see how insane this is .. but I think I still have a very disordered relationship with food.. I have a baby now and am terrified of doing the same to him so I’m trying to fix it while he’s still young!

The problem with any diet is that it puts certain foods up on a pedestal by making them something you should avoid because it’s got syns or high points or is a carb etc etc. that’s why so many of the slimming world community who jumped onto intuitive eating a few years ago failed massively because suddenly all foods are allowed! So they’re going to eat creme eggs and bread and pizza. Eating intuitively only works if you genuinely enjoy how a salad makes your body feel and see it as an equal dinner to a pizza. I haven’t followed slimming world officially for years and am only now just starting to see foods for what the are again. Eg I had a takeaway last night because we fancied one and I actually ate way less than I used to because I was full, and this morning I’ve woken up with a proper food hangover and it’s putting me off having one for a while. But old slimming world me would’ve continued with getting another takeaway straight after weigh day next week regardless of how it made me feel physically because it’s the one thing I ‘allowed’ myself to do after weigh in.
