I did really well on slimming world and I gained the three stone back and I do think I had bad influence from sw insta and I'm starting to wish I never encountered it.

A lady in group last week told everyone she gained four pounds, but her only off plan food was a packet of fruit pastels that her child didn’t eat. She blamed that for the gain and the consultant agreed, backed it up, then gave a lecture on the syn value of chocolate and sweets. Why do consultants not challenge the obvious? Their stupidity could be so mentally damaging.

That is just ridiculous. Sometimes I think when you consider a treat can help weight loss as long as in calorie deficit because your cravings can be managed rather than not letting yourself have the ‘treat’.

Shocker! Slimming World hasn’t wasted any time promoting Miss Disordered Eating 2022! She clearly has a problem if anyone at Head Office had bothered to look at her IG 😌 They’ve also failed to mention how quickly she has lost the weight or that she has eaten little to no carbs/not followed the plan 🙈

You have to question someone who feels they have to state they didn’t have a Coke Zero and a skinny iced latte on the same day.. What exactly would be wrong with that if you did? That would be a maximum of 115 calories total 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is not something anyone should feel guilty about, or feel they have to clarify!

They don't give a tit. They want to sell the dream to chubbers that they too can shift 6 stone in 6 months eating what they want because thats what gets people joining.

I’ll be honest and I think this thread will simply repeat the same things over and over and that is because nothing will change. There will just be a new bunch of people with photo shoots and articles written about them and the business will just carry on making money. I do think the Insta SW thing is slowly dying off but it’ll take a while and then it will just be TikTok and video after video of rubbish cooking.

I agree I think SW Insta will die off but SW itself won't go out of business seeing as most group members in my experience seem to think of the weigh ins as a social event and don't actually seem to have any intention of ever hitting their target weight!

100%. been a target member for 3 years - I do a lot of half marathons which definitely helps, I just like the free weigh in. My club shut down and I’ve recently joined a new one, they all pop along on a Saturday morning with Costa’s in hand. The consultants definitely missed out on being popular at school and are using this as their time to relive their youth. Caught mine slagging off a member to another member. Professional.

I used to be a weigh lady and got told off for saying someone deserved to gain weight. I'd been discussing Biggest Loser with a friend in a cafe and got dobbed in! I couldn't remember what I did on a weekly basis never mind what anyone else in a group did.

Well done! I like running too and find it really helps. The first group I went to was mega cliquey with the consultant and the girl who did the weigh in, who as you say definitely missed out on being popular at school, she thought she was some sort of celeb PA to the consultant and would park right outside the door at the church hall like some VIP making it really awkward for everyone to walk round her car. They both thought they were Thelma and Louise but it was more Patty and Selma 😅

The second group I tried the consultant was really nice but the group was absolutely huge and she had three back to back Saturday morning so she struggled to remember your name etc and if I stayed to group it took an age to get round everyone, and you always get the one person who won't stop banging on about something!

Every time I have rejoined I always think 'right I need something to keep me accountable' but then very quickly get sick of having to drag myself to a weigh in, when I'm capable of doing it myself at home for free. In a way it's a bit of a comfort blanket.

There’s a section on the website about SlimmingWorld and eating disorders and it states that anyone with a history of an ED will not be allowed to sign up. when you fill out your details in your joining form there is a tick box if you’ve ever suffered an ED. I ticked it and described my situation. My consultant didn’t bat an eyelid and allowed me to join. Unsurprisingly after 2 years I had relapsed back into my ED habits and almost got hospitalised!! My consultant still encouraged me to stay to group (to encourage me to eat correctly). Consultants are NOT trained in supporting or managing disordered eating. My consultant used to just suggest me adding in more healthy extras (not syns though god forbid!) I ended up putting a complaint in to SW HO about how they shouldn’t have allowed me to join if they stand by the statement on their website…I never heard anything back from them. Shock!!
