There’s a section on the website about SlimmingWorld and eating disorders and it states that anyone with a history of an ED will not be allowed to sign up. when you fill out your details in your joining form there is a tick box if you’ve ever suffered an ED. I ticked it and described my situation. My consultant didn’t bat an eyelid and allowed me to join. Unsurprisingly after 2 years I had relapsed back into my ED habits and almost got hospitalised!! My consultant still encouraged me to stay to group (to encourage me to eat correctly). Consultants are NOT trained in supporting or managing disordered eating. My consultant used to just suggest me adding in more healthy extras (not syns though god forbid!) I ended up putting a complaint in to SW HO about how they shouldn’t have allowed me to join if they stand by the statement on their website…I never heard anything back from them. Shock!!
That's interesting!
I also ticked the box about ED.
However I wasn't aware they wouldn't allow you to join if so (makes sense obviously)
But nothing was ever said to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ wasn't even asked about it 🤔
You're the first person I've actually seen mention this!

It shows that they are not reading the forms, they are just grasping the sign ups. Was this the paper form in class?.because other plans online won't let you go ahead 😳

Yeah, I signed up in class!
Never thought anything of it.
I presumed it was allowed as nobody ever said anything!

I went to the slimming world group with my daughter and she still has the text message on her phone from the consultant saying she should rejoin before her due date and after the birth weigh in, the awards that she will gain will kick start motivation to be a target member again. I can’t tell you how annoyed I was for multiple reasons. What about the normal people just trying to lose weight by healthy eating habits and body magic? It’s like she was actively being encouraged to cheat. It’s that mentality that is off putting about slimming world but that is consultant behaviour led, not by the plan.

I would like to think Slimming Word office would not encourage that?

Well if they don't take action when people do complain about behaviour such as that, they are sending home the message that they are not only ok with it, but they don't care as long as they are being paid. That's absolutely horrendous! 😳

She ignored it and has since quit. She does something now called cross fit but I have no idea what that entails. I can cross stitch, that is as far as I go.

It’s a shame an experience like that has put my daughter off slimming world as we used to go to the groups for something to do and then go out afterwards. Since covid there is not enough people, no atmosphere and no good food ideas for me.

Cheat the weigh by giving birth??? Wow that's low for a consultant to even think of doing let alone asking someone to do it. Jeeze its frigging sick is what it is

Ps crossfit is a type of training, mixture of Olympic lifting, power lifting, gymnastics and cardio. Quite high intensity. Most often done within a crossfit gym aka a box/crossfit box. It's actually a really fun type of training, like a big exercise class but better, you should join her one day as you can scale all movements

The consultant is just a bit strange, she is someone I can’t quite work out, a little socially awkward I would say.

At almost 57 years old I think that would be beyond my abilities now. I’ve already gone through knee replacement from my younger running days.

The consultant I had when I joined a month after giving birth was supportive and asked me if I felt I was ready especially as I was breastfeeding. I said I was and she did check on me to make sure I was having my extra bits (extra healthy A I think it is). That consultant has since left because she was fed up with SW! Shame that good consultants are wheedled out

I went to a slimming world group while I had a visit to Yorkshire and the consultant was really warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The group was really nice and the people were very chatty. I think that people from Yorkshire are generally very friendly as opposed to where I live. A good consultant makes all the difference. I think slimming world should do member satisfaction surveys, we used to have them and be rated as staff members so should all consultants.

Completely agree, before mine closed my consultant was such an angel, he understood things like with exercise muscles swell so you will weigh more afterwards for a few days, he was good at nutrition too, he'd never let anyone miss out on a treat, or a night out. He was the best and I miss him so much. It showed in the club too, nice people, supportive. The one I've moved to is competitive and who can be besties with the consultant. Weird.

It’s all about the money they can make they don’t care if someone is hospitalized as long as they made some money out of you.
It’s absolutely shocking that they don’t give a tit. I hope your in the mend now.

She’s also watering down milk to make her Hex A go further.. there are no words. 100ml of skimmed milk - 37 calories. SMH.

A lot of them eat like this! Dressed up as SP days! Or Success Express

Then they wonder why they put the weight on so quickly when they eat normally

That can't taste good either!
Skimmed milk is weak enough as it is, personally, nevermind watered down! 😂
