Allow yourself to eat what you want.
You may gain some weight initially but you have to get the good and bad foods ect out your head first.
Once you allow yourself to eat what you want, you stop craving the foods you'd normally restrict and knowing that you're allowed them if you want them, you probably won't over eat them because you know it won't be the last time and that you can have them again whenever you want.
Once your mind starts adjusting to it, you'll eventually lose weight.
It's a long process though and it's very hard to basically let go.
Thank you. It’s difficult as I did lose a lot then gained it back. All that effort and it is just so hard to come to terms I got much healthier then completely ruined it all. Now I am back at risk, incredibly overweight and struggling to find the mindset but I’ll keep trying.

She has always been rude from what I remember.
Overpriced tat! She’s bringing out more stuff now like bottles etc because planners and slimming world in general are not popular anymore! As I said, I used to like her stuff. She was alot cheaper then. Then I posted about fox planning doing 50% off and getting a few diary’s and I got a message which she deleted straight away, but it showed in my notifications.. when I mentioned it to a few people on Instagram they said they same, and it’s not been the first time it’s been mentioned on how rude she is. Im sad Tory from fox planning stopped doing her planners etc and it’s more gifts now, would have loved her to be more successful than Charlotte and her p husband.

I was all for some of the small businesses but I just had to unfollow them all.

I used to like her but definitely think she’s one to watch. I remember her going to home bargains and raving about their £3.99 material caddy you could keep your planners in then next thing she’s bringing PP branded ones out acting like she’s just come up with a new invention! I also find it contradictory that she talks about booking holidays on a budget, money saving tips but then flogs planners for a tenner that you can get in home bargains for £1.99! I bought a food diary when I first started SW and the quality was tit, I’ll stick to the HB ones thanks.

I never even used the free ones in the handbook so was definitely not buying anything.

So sorry you’re struggling with it 💔
I would recommend separating “sorting your relationship with food” and “losing the weight” in your mind. Sorting your relationship with food is more important, and if you manage to do it it’s likely you will start to lose weight anyway. I recently had my ‘wake up call’ when I weighed myself and was heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant. SW allows me to overeats, and puts certain foods that I love on a pedestal so I end up binging on them.
I’ve been off it for a while now, and just eating little bits of what I fancy and here’s some examples of things I’ve been able to do in the last week:
- not choose a big chocolate chip muffin for breakfast from work, despite them being put on and free, because I had a big dinner the night before and didn’t feel particularly hungry.
- eating 3 slices of an oven pizza with salad when having a sharing meal with my family, despite there being loads of other sides and some leftovers, because I really fancied something fresh to go alongside it not just stodge
- Make massive portions but actually put some back because I’m full, rather than eating it all because I’ve given myself the calories/syns so I need to eat it to know what I’ve had.
- opened a bar of chocolate, had two squares, then put the rest back in the fridge

Old me would’ve taken the opportunity at being “off plan” and shovelled it all down anyway.
And I’m still overweight! But I know that I’m on the right track to feeling better around food. And in a year or so if I’m still at a weight that’s higher than I’d like to be, then I’ll start adding more veg so I naturally eat less of the higher calorie stuff, or maybe even will start exercising haha. But right now, healing my brain is so much more important.

What does everyone think of princess planning
overpriced, overhyped glorified pamphlets.

I do not understand why people feel they need a £45+ item to write down what they eat. They've liked my posts on the gram, made a few comments (clearly after a sale) but to be honest I'd rather stuff wasps up my a than give those horrendacunts a penny.

and to whoever asked why sw has never featured me, I'd be here all day explaining why. Top of the list would be image. I don't have the look they like to promote and I couldn't think of anything worse than being dressed by someone else to fit into the sw way of doing things. I've been accused of bullying by them because I recreated a picture beggy ben and a muller light so they pulled a feature on me that they had written up, but when I asked them why harry pickard is allowed to go around bullshitting people about his make believe 8 stone weight loss in slimming worlds name, they told me that "we cannot control what people put on their personal instagram accounts"..but they obviously monitor it as my case proves.

Very little diversity in that magazine.
Alot of pretty white women, a tiny mens section at the back, and never seen a heavily tatted, bearded man in there because that's obviously not the look they want...when that's what alot of us women swoon over, not going to lie, might sell more mags if they did 🤣🤣.
Can't stand slimming world.
Glad people are now wising up.

sorry how much 😳 £45 for a ‘food diary’ I don’t spend that on my annual diary! People seriously have this money to waste in the current climate? I’m doing something wrong!

'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results'

If you have lost weight with SW and gained a shitload back why do you think if you do it all over again the results will be any different?

You can excuse (as I have many times before I broke the cycle) and say 'its not SW its me the plan works I lost 6 stone 5 years ago'
If you gained back 7 SW has failed you.

SW indoctrinate you to blame yourself for the plans failings. This is why even when you're losing overall and stay to group they go round and ask the reason you have gained on week.
Sometimes there is no reason could be hormones, stress, you've exercised more, the weather etc.
But a consultant will insist its sometime you've done.
If you say to a consultant you don't know why you've gained 9 times out of 10 they'll start reeming off reasons for a gain
'Did you eat your healthy extras?'
'Did you weigh your healthy extras?'
'Have you gone over syns?'
'Are you eating all yout syns?' (yes, they will say this a reason for a gain if you say you're not).
'Are you eating free foods? Eat more free foods!'
'Are you eating speed? Eat more speed!'

Then they expect you to choose one so you can be blamed.
After months if not years of this indoctrination if you start gaining back you'll look to these reasons as being the cause of your gaining and blame yourself.

Reality is its not eating 5g extra of cheese on a monday and eating 18 syns on a sunday making you gain back.

Its because -
-Its because SW don't teach portion control
-SW create a toxic atmosphere in groups where you compete to lose the most weight to win awards such as miss slinky, so some people start restricting which ducks your metabolism.
- they promote calorie dense foods like pasta, potatoes and rice as unlimited
- They don't address psychological reasons for over eating.
- They don't truely want you to lose weight. They're not dieticians or personal trainers with professional interest. They are a business that relys on return custom. If everyone that joined SW reached target and kept it off the business would make no profit.
Even when consultants seem to be encouraging you to lose its so they can stick you in the local paper at target or advertise their group lost 80 stone in a year on a poster so they can get MORE custom and more profit. Its not your best interests at heart.

I know theres more of you on this thread that seem to be SW member than there was before and some have mentioned considering re-joining.

Before you do ask yourself;
How many people do you know that reached target and maintained it for over 3 years purely following the SW plan? Not losing with SW then switching to CC or something else.
I bet its not many.
But I bet you do know many Debbie, Sues, Mels and Amandas that have been in and out of your group for 10+ years losing and gaining the same 2 stone or more over and over in a vicious cycle where the only thing that loses long term is your purse.

Break the cycle ladies.
Amen! Wonderful post, took me years to undo all the harm Slimming World did to my psyche.

It took me months just to wean myself off Frylight and now I am just starting to work on my relationship with food. It will be challenging for sure but I’m feeling positive.

Seen today another account I follow from back in the 2018 heyday of SW Insta has gained all her weight back…. Seems like you just can’t go from SW to trying to eat normally without piling it all back on and them some, to maintain long term without changing to calorie counting you would have to stick to plan forever and ever which is just unimaginable! Do I want to be remembered by my future grandchildren for my syn free Christmas dinners? I don’t bleeping think so 🤣🤣

I agree. Personally as someone who did SW, lost a significant amount of weight and gained it all back, I don’t agree with shaming anyone for gaining weight; and I’m certainly not saying you are just to be clear, more a general point, as I had not addressed my own relationship with food. During lockdown I struggled and being someone who can gain weight rapidly it piled on. I was hiding away from the outside world and just allowed it to happen.
I now accept that the only way I would have maintained my weight loss was if I had stuck to the plan forever and frankly that isn’t living my best life. Now I’m trying to consider how I can address my relationship with food but I would ask that we all be kind and not shame anyone for weight gain no matter who they are.
Sorry to jump into me posting on your comment it just triggered me again following my more recent posts on here about my battles.

You’re right I totally wasn’t shaming them, I should have made that more clear. I actually really like the account in question she’s very honest.

Sorry I didn’t mean to trigger you, my point was that the SW plan just isn’t sustainable long term.

I’ve piled weight back on too and I totally hear you; it’s so difficult to find the right mindset and that mindset needs to be for being healthy not just to lose weight.

No apology needed this is an open forum I get that and I genuinely didn’t think you had shamed in your comment. I totally agree the SW plan is an utter failure in truly helping those who lose the weight especially in learning how to maintain whilst living a life without stupid restrictions. It was meant as a personal suggestion / request for everyone on here to consider when wishing to comment of weight gains. I would love to see this thread being focused on highlighting the failings of SW whilst being understanding of individuals struggles. Many of us on here struggle with mental health and/or eating disorders directly or indirectly caused by heath struggles and no one should feel ashamed.
It certainly feels like SW is crumbling just a little more than it was and consultants have turned their backs on it just as members have. The idea of setting up a community group to support each other that moves away from SW and has been mentioned on this thread recently is one I hope occurs more often.

It always amuses me when you see someone get really large again after they were so bleeping rude, preachy and condescending to others. People who rammed the plan down others throats, people who had no time for anyone who didn't have 100k followers, people who clearly lied about what they were eating, but became desperate for a sw mag feature and a spice code.... I just think HA! Karma hun 😘🤣🖕not so full of yourself now are you!
