No empties for this month but I did declutter some items.

ELF Blush Palette in Light - I got this as a GWP and have only ever swatched it. I have so many other blush I actually use, it just doesn't make sense to keep it.

HnB Cosmetics Soft Focus Loose Powder in Banana - Another GWP. This looks far too yellow for me to use, I'm very fair, so I'm going to pass this on brand new.

Revolution Soap Brow - Another GWP. I really don’t understand this product so will be passing it on brand new.

The Saem Mood Up Duo Eyeshadow in Mellow Pink - This eyeshadow due was in my advent calendar. It's a nice duo but the matte pink has a weird grey undertone on me that gave dead vibes and the glitter eyeshadow ended up everywhere. Will pass it on.

Etude Dear Darling Water Tint in Cherryade - Another item from my advent calendar. I've not tried it but swatches online make it look more strawberry red, which look awful on me, so will be passing it on.

All of the above items have been sent to my MIL to pick through alongside her nursing colleagues.

Barry M Waterproof Eyeliner in Gunmetal - A nice gel eyeliner pencil in a deep grey. Unfortunately I'd not used it in a little bit and the lead fell out so in the bin it went.

I had a declutter of my MAC single eyeshadows and got rid of the following shades; Brun, Coquette, Cork, Espresso, Folie, Handwritten, Mystery, Romp and Swiss Chocolate. These were all old, some the texture felt extra dry, and shades that are too dark for my tastes now. In the bin they went.

End of quarter 1 review... I have decluttered 18 products and used up 10. I have bought 3 new replacements for a total of £8.48. I've also hit pan on some makeup products so feeling like I'm making progress in the stuff I'm using up. Not too shabby!

Catrice Glam Doll Mascara - I always buy some variation of this mascara, this one is too dry now and started crumbling, so I've moved on to the next one.

Decluttered: Maybelline FitMe Concealer in 03, it's too light for my under eyes, makes them look ashy and it's also not a good colour for me to highlight with, which I've tried. I'm not sure how much is actually left, it can't be too much, but it's also over five years old

All in all, that is 18 products used up in the first quarter and two decluttered/binned. More than I thought! I don't have a new purchases list, but I am working patiently on a blush where I've hit the pan, something I've never done before. I'm hopeful to use that one up some time this year, I've bought some stuff as I'm suddenly interested in make-up again.

Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow vitamin C serum. The best one, I had the next bottle already lined up.

Alverde spray On conditioner & Heat protectant. Ought this more or less on a whim with little expectations but liked it enough to repurchase. It smells nice, the scent doesn’t linger and it makes combing my hair easy, plus it doesn’t feel sticky!

3 more empties…

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian shower cream - received in a free GWP box. It was fine, no more, no less than a standard shower product. It’s £10 for 90ml so I’d not repurchase.

Dr Dennis Gross Stress Repair face cream, travel size - another GWP. It moisturised my face well but I don’t have “stressed” skin so no need to repurchase, especially now we are through winter. It’s also £75 for a full size! 😬

Whind Marrakech Illuminating Magic Oil - received in my monthly beauty subscription box. This was nice, although I do prefer a serum rather than an oil under my make up. I kept my skin nourished. It’s £55 to buy and I don’t think it made enough of a difference for me to repurchase at the price.

I’ve uploaded photos of 2 of the items for the Cult Beauty Empty/Recycle scheme so fingers crossed they accept them. Sadly Whind is a glass bottle which they don’t accept.

Oops, I forgot one…

Malin + Goetz Grapefruit face cleanser - received this either in a beauty box or GWP purchase. It was okay but I’m not a fan of gel cleansers or grapefruit so I wouldn’t repurchase. That said, I found it isn’t as drying as other gel cleansers but I still prefer a cream cleanser. Also it comes in a metal tube so I cant’t recycle it at Cult! 🙄 😁

Another month of empties!

Pyunkang Yul Deep Clear Cleansing Balm - This is a nice cleansing balm that removed my makeup with ease and emulsified really quickly. I probably won't repurchase as I did wonder if the fragrance in it was impacting my rosecea.

Layering Lab by Superdrug Paradise Body Mist and Layering Lab by Superdrug Fresh Body Mist - I like these body sprays as they're inexpensive and I like being able to layer them for a custom scent. The scent doesn't have a massive throw but that suits me fine. Currently using a more expensive body spray and it's considerably stronger so I need less so will last longer. When it comes to repurchasing I may try something else from the more expensive brand.

Superdrug Crystal Anti-perspirant Deodorant - This was my favourite roll on but sadly it's been discontinued. Sad that this was my last back up.

ELF Liquid Poreless Putty Primer [Sample] - This was only a small sample but lasted me ages. The primer is very thin and liquidy and I felt it did smoothe my pores once I got the hang of using it. I didn't find it improved the longevity of my makeup or change the application of product on top. I'm not sure if I'll purchase the full size as I'm not convinced I need the extra step in my makeup routine.

Today's empties
Benefit Hoola bronzer lite - lovely for pale skin like mine , hasn't got an orangey tone . Would definitely repurchase.
L'Oreal Paradise le shadow stick - loved this and I will definitely try out a couple more shades, so easy to apply and blend

Geek and Gorgeous Jelly Joker cleanser. I liked this so much that I had another bottle lined up and ready. Affordable, takes makeup and sunscreen off easily for me and skin feels good.

Garnier Whole Blends Kids Oatmilk Shampoo. I had this before and generally am a fan of the adult oatmilk shampoo and remembered the kids version as also nice. Maybe they changed the formula of the kid shampoo as it seemed to dry out my hair. Will not repurchase this version.

Sorry for double posting, emptied Makeup Revolution Hyaluronic serum unexpectedly today. I’ve got another bottle of this, bought three when it was on offer for 5€ each on Amazon. It’s okay, but I don’t think I’ll repurchase when the last one is empty.

Does anyone do the Cult Beauty/Look Fantastic recycling me scheme?
If so, I have a couple of questions to ask please.

Slow month, and I am working on multiple things, but I guess the rate they are going, I'll see some at the end of the year still!

Balea Schrundensalbe (foot balm with 25% urea): glad this is gone, I don't think it actually did anything and the high urea content meant it gave you a feeling of wet feet for ages. Won't repurchase this, it was also a pain to squeeze out and by the end the plastic material of the tube had cracked

Dove Beauty Creme Bar - again 😂 think I'm roughly going through one per quarter and I got my supply lined up. Will use up a shampoo I don't like much as body wash first though.

Try the Scholl Schrundensalbe - it works miracles in a couple of hours!

I've had a few empties recently as I'm trying to work through what I have. Finished a Nexxus and Philip Kingsley shampoo and might try Kerastase next. Does anyone use Kerastase and would they recommend? My hair can get quite dry and feels thin at times so I like to try moisturising and thickening shampoos.

Also finished a Lidl shower gel which was a dupe for Lush, I liked the minty fragrance of this and might try the lavender one. I've also finished two tubes of Lidl's dupe of the L'occitane shea butter hand cream and really liked this for my dry skin.

I’ve gone through several bottles of the Lidl Lush shower gel now! I haven’t tried the minty one yet, but the Lavender and Rose ones are very similar to Lush. For the price I think they’re good dupes!

I haven't seen the Lush dupes in my Lidl store in ages. I have the honey one to try, hopefully I don't like it since it doesn't look like I'll be able to get any more 😂

Another month down and some more products decluttered and used up.

Decluttered:

MAC Powder Blush in Desert Rose and Fleur Power - I've had both of these far too long and they're far too pigmented for my skintone so they had to go.

Lacura 2% BHA Toner - Bought this in the hopes it would be a dupe for the Paula's Choice. Tried it once on my face and hated it so tried it on my feet instead and still hated it. It had to go.

Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion - I'm sure these products work for some people but I couldn't get past the smell 🤢

Used up:

ELF Youth Boosting Advanced Night Retinoid Serum [Sample] - I used this once a week so the sample lasted me ages. It was nice but I wasn't keen on the fragrance.

Torriden Cellmazing Brightening Ampoule - Nice enough Vitamin C serum, just not sure if it irritated my skin or not.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti-Dryness Super UV SPF50+ - Nice lightweight SPF that worked well under makeup. Stung like a witch if I sweated it into my eyes though 😂

Lee Stafford Activation Shampoo and Conditioner - I liked these and they really helped rescue my hair from the halo of frizz it had become. Will probably repurchase at some point.

Tally for the year so far...
Declutter: 22
Used up: 20
New products: 5
