50 year old Simon Vickers is on trial with the murder of his daughter.

I forgot this has happened but remember it now, I don't understand anyone who would play fight with knives? I don't believe that for one minute.

Neither do I. The article says he would have had to be holding the knife firmly to go in 11cm.

This is a laughable defence if it wasn't so sad. Why doesn't the mother say what actually happened? What would she have to gain by lying? Unless she wants to protect her partner who murdered their child

If you were being charitable you could believe that the mother might not have actually seen what exactly happened e.g. if she had her back turned. She's not a prosecution witness, but doesn't say if she is a defence witness or not. You'd hope not tbh.

Even if she does believe it was truly an accident, the fact that an adult man was acting so recklessly should be enough to blame him.

He's given two different versions of what happened...I wouldn't believe a word he says

I've just read about this, not heard it before but it definitely does not add up. 11pm at night, cooking tea and accidentally threw a knife which penetrated 11cm and into the heart???? I don't know what went on but it was definitely not that!

Tbh I just don't understand why you'd throw any kitchen utensils at each other.....I mean, I could understand a tea towel or something like that, cos I've done that myself...but I'd never throw tongs or spatulas or knives at anyone 🤷‍♀️ the story makes literally no sense, and I would not stand by and support my daughters dad if he had done that even if it was "an accident" as he thought he was throwing another utensil at her.
I don't even believe that's what happened though tbh, I think he's stabbed her deliberately or went to stab the mother and the girl has got in the way but they think he will get off with it if they make it seem like a play fight got wrong.

But again...WHO PLAY FIGHTS WITH ACTUAL UTENSILS?!

He claims he threw the knife by accident there's a chance that it may miss and hit her foot or whatever. The fact the knife went in deep makes it seem he was at close range to her and was aiming for that part of her. It's a really tit defence and he will get torn to pieces.

The mum was also arrested for murder at the outset but seems just the dad on trial.

Poor Scarlett. The fact the parents aren't owning up to the truth tells you exactly what type of parents they were to her. I'm sure I read that open chest surgery was performed on the kitchen floor 😥 she didn't stand a chance the poor girl.

This is a weird one, nothing seems to add up. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds as there's already massive inconsistencies in what he's saying. There's no way what he said happened would result in such horrific injuries. I'm interested in how the mother fits in to all this as well.

BIB is what I thought when I first heard about this. I don't see how the knife could go so far in if they were just mucking about.

He'd have to be the strongest person in history to throw a knife from close range (and apparently over his shoulder) that penetrated clothing and then 11 cm deep into a person. What a ridiculous defence.

When your story is bizarre and unbelievable, and changes more than once, I’d bet my last penny it’s a lie. Shame on the mother for contributing to this pisstake!

This sounds the most likely circumstance I wonder if the mother is still scared of him

There’s not a chance a blind throw over the shoulder caused an 11cm chest stab. 11pm making garlic bread?! I wouldn’t be surprised if she was getting a real bollocking over something and he’s threatened her and who knows what happened. Pregnancy/sex/drugs some teenage thing.
