I just don't see how sustainable a career this will be compared to a long term acting job on a soap. A lot of people will have paid in the first week out of curiosity, I can't see continuing growth unless she does hardcore stuff? I’m sure many will disagree but I do find it hypocritical that they wheeled her out for calendars and lads mags from quite a young age. I understand times have changed but there is just something ‘off’ about this sudden wave of publicity and speculation that she’s been sacked.

she also left hollyoaks for quite a while and never went down the reality TV route (that I’m aware of) when she could easily have ended up on CBB etc…

I'm not totally against OF. TBH, it looks like easy money for some and at least in most cases the woman can be in control.

But those pics she put up, they look very readers wives, not glamorous or sexy at all. I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people sign up for a month, see your bits and bobs and then duck off to someone else. I can't imagine those 400 subscribers will stay long term.

I'm glad she's sacked, not because of OF, because Mandy is a whiney twatt. Her story line is going no where, and she doesn't have enough personality to be a main character.

As soon as I heard the bosses wanted to speak to her I thought we'd see the swift closure of her OF account, very surprised at this turn of events, is she crazy?! She had a job for life on Hollyoaks.

Perhaps I am being a prude or ageist but I think she looks awful in the pictures posted earlier in the thread, like something from the Sunday Sport. But if there's an audience for this who am I to judge

Also, how is what she is doing now any more empowering than the lads' mags she did 20 years ago1? She is getting paid for showing off her body now, just as she did then.

I saw an interview with one of the actors and she said everyone gets paid the same on Hollyoaks. So although I'm sure it's a nice wage, they're unable to pull in the big bucks like some of the big characters on EastEnders can.

So it may be that £7k a month from OF, is much more than what Hollyoaks pay. She's obviously too short sighted to realise those subs won't stay around long.

I've heard the top earners on OF are litrially doing private chats , live stream sex shows, personalised vids the lot and it is 24/7. The subs are really demanding and if the girl isnt providing they just go elsewhere. Its not as easy as post a few grimey pics a month and earn 7k.

I actually despair looking at some of the fb/ Twitter reactions to this, what planet do people live on? Saying it’s her body her choice- yes of course it is and of course she can do it if she wants but there’s always a consequence to any action. I have so many bloody clauses in my contract it’s insane but they pay me and keep a roof over my head so I gladly abide. For example I can’t declare bankruptcy or lose my driving license. She’s not immune to contract law because she’s on tv.

I don't think it is hypocritical.

We live in a different world now. Hollyoaks consciously moved away from the calendars a few years ago now. The days of them coercing cast members into the shoots which they may not have been comfortable with (Jamie Lomas, Kieran Richardson and Laila Rouass have all spoken out about them and that's just off the top of my head), are thankfully behind them. It is good that they are showing a duty of care to their young viewers.

The issue isn't even necessarily the content Sarah Jayne has posted (if it is as tame as those posted in the thread) it's the connotations of what comes to mind whenever someone mentions Only Fans. Even if Sarah isn't doing anything seedy this is immediately what the mind jumps to and Hollyoaks do not want to be associated with that.

It was also …. 20 years ago! Only fans isn’t just people posting in their knickers its online prostitution to some. In this day and age they need to be seen as being responsible . Same as our employers would likely fire us for signing up to it.

I think she's quite egotistic and probably thought Hollyoaks wouldn't sack her. Her character definitely has had its time. Though I think losing a well paying Job for OF is stupid.

She's high profile pictures leak easily once you post to OF you're not in control of what happens to the images which is exactly what She's trying to eliminate. There's also a High sub rate in the beginning for curiosity but it wouldn't stay like that forever. Also the picture on here was so plan she won't be able to sustain it

I did think at first it was a bit hypocritical because Hollyoaks had her in calenders when she was younger.

But as other posters have said, that was a long time ago and Hollyoaks have really moved away from the cast of "scantally clad totty" image. It was a different time and we didn't think it was weird that any woman in the public eye was pretty much expected to do "lads magz" shoots. We obviously now realise how wrong that culture was. Letting her do OF is sorta going back to that culture, and it could lead to a situation where female actors feel pressure/compelled to do OF to increase they're popularity on the soap, which is just how it uses to be in the lads magz days.

Mandy doing online porn is not the right image for the soap and not the right influence to their young viewers. And it's not a healthy culture to cultivate, so Hollyoaks rightly don't want to be associated with it.

The thing is we can’t keep reverting to what was acceptable 10 years ago especially when we live in an age as we are. When does it stop? It does bring to question whether the whole show should have been wound down.

She will probably get a few more subs based on today’s newspaper reporting but I doubt she’ll be getting a playboy centrefold from it. Let’s be honest she’s a small time actress , I doubt she will be any great loss. The next lot of pics will be her in a £12.99 Amazon wish list dress up, she hasn’t got an Agent Provocateur budget.
