I was typing virtually the same thing earlier but got distracted and forgot to post it! Sam Smith is in no way comparable to Boy George,despite what he might think. BG was so handsome and had the whole country in love with him in the 1980’s as he was so nice and intelligent,he had such charisma. I was 9 when it was revealed he was a heroin addict and I was heartbroken and absolute terrified at the same time

So the media are still doing the polite they/them thing, but over on twatter this morning, nobody else whatsoever is.

Read an article the other day and the journalist very cleverly avoided referring to him as a "They" throughout the interview, eg it was "when Sam sang/ The Singer wrote/the writer travelled, or Smith was happy" anything but referring to him as They. I hurrahed!

Oh wow, I had exactly the same reaction, I was about 14 and remember that sort of shocked fear at hearing about his heroin addiction. I adored him too. And he was truly ground-breaking. SS? HE is no BG.

I don't know why but in my head him and Adele seem the same. One good, now just annoying, with poor voices, dreary songs and one dimensional personalities. SS knows that video was gonna get him the attention he hasn't had for a while. He needs to walk through the car wash at the local garage cos he always looks grotty. And anyone making this into something about homophobia is being silly. Ask them how they'd feel about their neighbour wearing those outfits gyrating ...but as soon it's SS apparently its "artistic".
