And the family idiocy just keeps coming. I'm speechless at the immaturity, wastefulness and outlandish behaviour of all of them. I can't.
Weird, isn’t it?
I’m all for a bit of fun, but the optics of two incredibly privileged grown women sat in their mansion playing around with mountains of mashed potatoes and beans just for a laugh are a bit grim tbh.
Must be nice to be able to waste food like that, don’t mind the 3+ million UK residents who currently rely on food banks to survive….

For my own sanity, I refuse to believe the same person who just posted a video of herself playing with mashed potatoes like a toddler also got a distinction in a Master's thesis at Oxford

Watched her marbled paper reel and I am moments away from blocking her incompetent arse on every platform just so she never even shows up on my recommendations lmao. Not only she definitely didn't bother actually watching any kind of tutorial, she also doesn't bother using special paper and just DUNKS a regular copy paper INTO the water. Of course the paper disintegrated. The ink isn't just poured into tap water, you need to make a solution so that the ink doesn't break apart on the surface like hers did. And you don't dunk the paper in the water like you're a medieval peasant and the paper is soiled clothing that needs washing in the river. You lay it on the surface evenly and remove gently so the ink doesn't warp as you're lifting. Her entire existence is rage bait.

New video about having a bookish summer.

1. Spewing out the same information she has vlogged before, for the past decade.
2. Twirling is back.
3. More about arts and crafts than actually reading. Returning to her childhood. Regressing time.
4. Letters are "dialogical", meaning they are dialogues between people. Distinction at Oxford. Seriously?
5. Rather late to the game in recommending a book like A Midsummer Night's Dream. We are 3 weeks into July now.
6. Recommending books no one will ever read, including her.
7. I seriously wish I could see her face when she watches Ammonite. lol
8. Fingerpainting.
9. Most of the clips are old ones. Most of what she recommends, she has recommended before. The books she suggests are not new titles. Nothing fresh or challenging. She has completely run out of ideas.
10. Pretty sure she just blacked out our Bingo card.

Printed handwritten letter. So personal 🥴 I wouldn’t fancy writing 200 letters but she’s only writing 4!
Yup, the letters will be 4 variants of:

"Dear Friend,

I hope I can call you 'friend'. Your money is coarsing through my bank account, after all, which makes us like currency-siblings in a way. I've always wanted a sister.

Thankyou most very much for the monetary marrow transplant. I assure you that this money will genuinely be reinvested into a fundraising scheme to build letter-writing monuments in all orphanages nationwide.

It rained today. The kind of rain that makes you wish that rain could live inside your bedroom*.

The honeysuckle melon drops flowered budfully in the garden, the bumblebees bumbled beefully in the bramble bush and the clouds pirouetted like misty ballerinas that were fathered by sky-moisture.

But hark! What chirping through yonder window breaks? It is a lesser-spotted bald eagle which lives in my garden. My extensive research tells me these are exceedingly rare in England. One day I hope to see this bird and not just hear its call. I will share tea with this eagle to pay tribute to my most favourite tea company: Bird & Blend.

I hope you've had more than just a productive letter-opening session. I spent mine doing some work, writing a novel and enjoying a refreshing Remedy Kombucha.

Yours me-fully,

Ruby.

*P.S. Don't try to open up your radiator pipes to make bedroom rain. I tried this and mummy wasn't very happy at all.

P.P.S. This letter is NOT AN AD and honestly NOT SPONSORED AT ALL. I just happen to really like things that give me money."

As a first time user of the ruby granger planner I have so many gripes with the thing
  • The most annoying thing of all has to be that every page is aligned differently? The title banner is all over the place, to the left, to the right, a little lower, a little higher every time you flip the page. For example all of the September & January LH pages are skewed to the right (with a nice blank strip on the LH side) and considering it’s spiral bound this makes it a massive pain. Page 18 didn’t even try to stay on the page, it’s half way off the edge. How hard can it be to just centre your pages??
  • The illustrations. The fact that they’re pixilated and haven’t been cropped correctly doesn’t even bother me that much. It’s that she doesn’t even understand the basics of sketching. Why draw in 3D if you don’t understand perspective? Dickens’ Great Expectations seems to be defying the rules of a cuboid in March’s illustration.
  • I’m assuming other people would use the monthly notes page to create a habit tracker too, or at least that’s what felt like common sense to me. Well alas, for the dotted grid does not fit 30 days. Will continue to persevere with my 3 week habit tracker nonetheless.
  • There’s a page for academic goals and then a page for ’Things I want to accomplish’ - i.e. personal goals, which you would think people would want to write ‘get a 5k pb’ etc. But the prompts on the page are: Places I want to see, Things I want to try & Things I want to do at some point in my life…
  • The introductory letter written by Ruby at the beginning actually has the about me details and other things on the back, so you can’t even rip the page out. Mine has already met its fate with a layer of acrylic paint.
  • Honestly the whole planner is whack, and I didn’t even start on the random quotes… missing my moleskin :’)
I do feel a little bad, it's only been through a week of use after all. The upside is it seems to hold fountain pen ink (LAMY) fine, I haven’t noticed any bleed through. Not all is lost (just my 22 quid).

Surely the point is to engage critically with literature, not run away from it. What does she think is going to happen - that she might accidentally catch racism from a novel??

In her new video she talks about her autumn TBR and one of the books she wants to read is Kafka's The Castle about which she initially says "I believe this is his only novel". Then we see her google something and "correcting" herself by affirming that Kafka only wrote two novels, The Castle and The Trial...

I was a bit bewildered hearing this from a literature student (and a self-proclaimed BOOKWARM and DARK ACADAYMIK), so much so that I (also a literature student) began doubting myself and thinking "wait, is Amerika not considered a novel but a novella?". I thought it was a longish book but I haven't read it so I googled it and... I don't know why I doubted myself instead of Ruby.

She almost certainly just read the beginning of the Wikipedia entry on Kafka and somehow, in her mind, the sentence "His best known works include the novella The Metamorphosis and novels The Trial and The Castle" meant that he only wrote two novels, one of which – arguably his most famous work (or at least on par with The Metamorphosis) – she didn't know.

Wow, such culture, much reading comprehension.

If you’re not keeping a notebook for every one of your essays with the title gold-foiled on the front cover, you’re not making the myost of your stoddies.

Has anybody consider that at this point she might be rage baiting ?
Sometimes she reminds me of that "my toddler asked for some milk so I raised a cow from scratch" woman, the way she exaggerates certain things that get brought up a lot, like mispronouncing words, the weird time skips, outfits in general, contradicting herself, whatever she's doing in the garden at night... but most of the time she seems so clueless and awkward, I just can't believe it's all caculated.

on another note - has roobs revealed anything concrete yet of her post-oxford plans? or is she just now planning to live on gifts from The Bank of Mom and Pops?
She's doing a year of Self Learning at the University of Roobs, Manor campus. Homemade modules will include Edwardian Christmas, bird types and Booktok.

Not joking, this is actually happening.

Because I get to roll around all I want today, I said what the heck and watched another old video of Rumbsters. She's getting ready for university, making lists of the lists she would need to make, because her university is in whole another magical land where not even grocery shops exist.

She says she's the vice president of the Harry Potter Society, and there is an event for the freshmen. She's supposed to write some questions and send them out? Rumbster claims she "came up with" 30 questions or so, but she just calmly copies from online quizzes lmao Harry Potter is like the one series of books she actually read, she's still can't let go of how she didn't get to be Hermione Granger, and yet she can't write down interesting and fun and tricky questions? No passion, no creativity, no effort whatsoever.

Here is a question about Dumbledore's scar on buzzfeed?

Screenshot 2024-08-16 at 17.26.00.png

And here's Rumbster's question

Screenshot 2024-08-16 at 17.26.25.png

She could have just said, I looked up some questions that we could use, and also made up some of my own ones, but nooooo. holy shit that quality is shite

And here's her "very strange looking lasagna". If someone did this to food in front of me, I'd throw them out the window.

Screenshot 2024-08-16 at 17.17.14.png

But mostly I felt bad for this oven, including its the poor door, that has obviously seen more horror than I ever will in my life.

Bonus points if you noticed the fly.

Oh here's the top comment

I don't know, it seems these "other girls" made the better choice by not having cereal with WATER for breakfast.

I hope by some miracle she grows to be 6'2" overnight so that we can finally see the end of this 'reaching for the highest shelf as the itty bitty smart girlie' schtick.

Ruby has no responsibilities beyond herself. She doesn't have a job, she doesn't have to deal with financial stress, she doesn't need to take care of her parents, she doesn't take care of her household, she doesn't have kids, she doesn't have a relationship, she doesn't need to clean or cook, and she doesn't have a social life to maintain. Her only responsibility, except for school, is her channel; as we know, she applies no effort to creating good content. Her audience is too obfuscated by her prodigy persona, blonde hair, and ridiculous accent to notice her poor editing, recycled clips, and lazy ideas. Please don't compare yourself to her. She lives in fantasy island and you seem to be an adult living in the real world. I congratulate your decision to pursue a master's degree while having a full life. I hope your wife is better. Good luck with your studies!
---

where is this from?
That's why I somehow despise her and her accomplishments. And people holding her as the supreme role model.
This girl never has to face real life, she always had someone to do it for her, to hold her hand ad guide her. She doesn't know what is it to be stressed because you don't know if you'll even have a roof for the beginning of your uni year because it's crowded. She never had to accept a room in a shady guy's house, it has a bad reputation but it's that or a hotel you can't afford. She never has to face parents not supporting you. She never has to not eat because she didn't has enough money, never has to either walk for hours or fraud to take public transportations at night after a small job after uni.

I'm tired to see that much people buying her poor stressed student persona while she never makes anything overly good, she's no better than half of the country. And the worst is that if you dare to say it, you'll have some coming from you and tell you you should be happy for the others. Yeah, I'm so glad she received free clothing after using chat GPT to make a dissertation comfortably sat in her fully paid accomodation while I'm trying to earn money to not end in the streets, I was wondering if she'll survive without her free kombucha, this was the fear of my week.
